  • Here's a review and comparison of a wide variety of stubby and small screwdrivers. These are different from Precision screwdrivers as all of these are just standard acetate handle screwdrivers that are either short or very compact.

    I love the aesthetic of the Craftsman red/blue/clear handles. Not sure why but I like it.

      Pratt & Reed are like the Kleins but you can pull off the rubber handle if you don't like it and I agree I like the black and yellow drivers they have a really good look.

      @@CatusMaximus I like that one with the smoke on the backend of the yellow acetate handle in your video.
      I ordered a complete set of the Duralast 36T ratchets from Autozone.com and they shipped 72T models instead. Which is disappointing. Im looking at Carlyle now.

    Hi
    About the 14:00 minute mark, you refer to a Rosco vl210 screwdriver.
    I'm nearing the completion of collecting all of the pieces of that particular line. The vl210 would complete it.
    Would you be interested in selling that particular screwdriver?
    Thank you.

    I like the newer handle design with the triple sides (or even the square sides), which give much greater grip for improved torque...especially with oily or wet hands. The hexagon or octogon classic style acetate handled screwdrivers leave something to be desired in the grip and torque department.

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  5 лет назад

      I also like the try cited drivers although depending on the specific handle design some do work much better than others

    I have some of those! ,, like the little Husky precision and the Picquic precision. You might want to check out the Picquic "Multique" for a small tweeker terminal driver. And the Picquic "Dash" is just awesome and falls into this range for sure.

    the USA Husky screwdrivers are made by Western forge and are the same as you can get from Craftsman.
    These don't always say USA on them, if they say WF or WFII...ect it was made in the USA by Western Forge.
    I do believe however that if you get a craftsman or husky screwdriver set they're either all US made or none, I'm not sure why WF sometimes doesn't put USA on the little ones.
    BTW of those two unmarked ones, the one with the reddish black paint on the end of the handle is a FULLER, I've got a few of them around from a set my grandmother had.

      No problem.
      The tips seem decent, but I don't really like the handles so I rarely use them.

      My little set of the Husky's were fully US made, also have a matching set of Craftsman's that are marked WF. Some of the Husky sets that might get marked US with global materials of whatever they wrote, said so because they were also packaged with offset drivers or the little keychain drivers that were made in Taiwan; the actual screwdrivers themselves were still 100% US made. Unfortunately not gonna find them so easy anymore, Western Forge being dead means husky is Taiwan built now with slightly different handles (again)

      And ideal just shut down America's oldest screwdriver manufacturer Pratt-Read too, a real shame.
      That pretty much means nobody who doesn't manufacturer screwdrivers in house will likely be offering any domestically made.

    • @marioman971
      @marioman971 2 года назад

      @@TylerSnyder305 I think Ideal moved the factory when they bought them. The US plant won't be shut down; however they're stopping contract manufacturing and focusing solely on the Ideal brand. Basically, USA Pratt-Read drivers are to *only* be sold under the Ideal name from now on. Weird to hear but at least they can technically still be bought.

    Outstanding!!! My fav right now is the HF/Pittsburgh 3-in-1 Multi Bit Stubby #65062 $2.99; paired with the HF/Warrior 3 pc Hex Drill Socket Driver Set (in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2) #63909 $0.99-$3.99. The driver just fits/feels right in my hand. However, I do mod the driver slightly by adding a 3/8” long piece of heat shrink over the black metal retaining clip. Just in case the clip decides it wants to get up and leave one day.

    ..Hey, man...that stubby yellow one with the red on the end of the handle is a Fuller, U.S.A., circa late 1970's-1980's. I have a few I bought new-they are good screwdrivers, but the "FULLER" name was stamped lightly on them and tended to become hard to read/unreadable after some use, the red coloring on the end of the handle tended to wear off, too...not sure about the other yellow-handled one, maybe an old Irwin, I have some older Irwins with handles similar to it.....

    I'm always on the hunt for the unusual smaller screwdrivers! I always feel a man can never have to many of these screwdrivers...that picquic multi-bit screwdriver has been tremendously handy I must say. I believe Western Forge was the o.e.m. for the Craftsman and Husky screwdriver lineup before they decided to outsource from China.

      Tyler Snyder Last Christmas season I decided to pickup a a few of the Craftsman screwdriver sets as gifts. Unfortunately all the screwdriver sets were made in China! I was able to find two new-old stock sets on the back of the shelf. I encountered the same deal with the Husky sets...only the huge screwdriver sets were the only ones made in the USA.
