Mount Athos - Sounds and images

Here is a collection of photos from different places on the Holy Mountain I have taken. Athos is a peninsula in the north of Greece where monks have lived for more than 1200 years. It is a place where the authentic Orthodox Christian faith and tradition is preserved through an ascetical life in accordance with the Holy Father's teachings on the purification of the heart to achieve holiness by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Many monks striving for their salvation in this place became Saints. In modern times we have Saints such as St. Paisios and St. Joseph the Hesychast to name a few.
