Hi Rob, I met you yesterday at Play Expo during Jonathan Dunn and Roland Perry's talks (I was the bald, Asian chap). I thought that I had recognised you. Yup, I'm already subscribed to you ! It was nice to meet you in person and I'll enjoy your videos even more. Cheers, Shell
Hi, Shell! It was nice talking to you too! Thanks for the sub! 👍🏻 Later that evening, a load of us went for a curry in Bispham & Roland and his Mrs tagged along too!
@@RetroOrBust Wow ! Roland in the Curry House is surely due now 🙂(wish I was there too - me and my missus went for a curry later, so we must have had the same vibe)
I’ve been in there a few times. There’s allot to get through. Unfortunately it’s such a small area that it’s really challenging especially when other people are in there. It wasn’t so bad two years ago but when I went a few months ago the area where there are stairs…you can’t even see the stairs anymore. I think he needs some help in its organisation, sorting, displaying and reduction to allow people to better view the shop and what he offers. I kinda puts me off when I have to pull mountains of games down because they are stacked ontop of each other or having to move a crazy amount of figures around to see what’s behind them
Exactly. I gave up after a few minutes when looking through the Master System games. I saw the photos from a few years ago when the shop looked spotless! I wish I'd rescued that Amstrad CPC now, even though I already own one!
With wonderful shops like this being so rare, you would think the community would be full of encouragement and praise - not have a debate about how tidy it is!

Yeah, as I was editing the video I zoomed in on the windows upstairs & could see stuff piled up against them! Makes me wonder what's hidden amongst that lot!
A lot of it looked like he'd raided a car boot. The SNES games he had weren't in the best shape & the Master System games were either sun faded or had some other damage. I hope they were that way when he acquired them! 🤔
Not only that but for disabled people like me who love old games (had a electronic then c64 back in the days when they came out) the shop is virtually inaccessible. Not only that when I asked if he had a amigo 1200 he just grumbled no then proceeded to ignore me again.
I remember many years ago. Could be close to 15 years now. There was a good retro game shop in the market vaults, which also had DVD's and VHS viseos
Yeah, I heard about that. We went to those vaults about 3 years ago but I don't think it was still there 😞
@@RetroOrBust no it isn't there anymore, many like this shop shut during pandemic as council wouldn't reduce rates at all.
😔

Good video and from Scarborough love that shop
Thanks! 👍🏻

It was a wonderful shop, a gold mine, if you will. I just wish it was well looked after 😞

Beautifully put @gamesbloke ! 👍🏻

Great vid ! Look forward to you r Play vid
Thanks, Mikey! 👍🏻
Ron the owner is a fantastic guy
He is indeed. It was nice chatting with him.
I *think* Switch Blade uses its enhanced palette for a more colourful sky than the CPC.
Yeah, I believe so. I only found out after I'd uploaded the video 😂
I counted 5 copies of Monopoly on the PS1!
😂
Im going there tomorrow after seeing this video. Should only be a couple of hours away
Take a hazmat suit! 😂
I've bought and visited the Games Pad a few times. Last time I spoke to the owner he said the upstairs is just as bad if not worse!!

Doesn’t fill you with confidence that any of it is in good condition. This day is to me “doesn’t take care of the stock”

It's a shame it's like that. How many things are just hidden away.
Is love to just close the shop for a day and have a good rummage, and tidy.
I know! There's probably some really rare stuff at the bottom of those piles of stuff! 😭
If you ever get to visit Peterborough, check out the game stall in the main highstreet, it's just as bad 😂
"Googles where Peterborough is... 😉
Its a shame he's let the shop get in that state , must be affecting sales when half the stuff isn't accessible to look at !
I know, it was heartbreaking to see! 😭
