- This is a game that brings me (and a whole lot of other folks) an unreasonable amount of joy. The aesthetics and the intention are cohesive throughout, and there's something really special about Relicblade! I've spent the last couple of years painting these minis in-between some of my larger project, and I'm finally ready to talk about them. For a good time, check out the Relicblade hashtag on Instagram.

*Disclosure- I have received free samples of Relicblade products directly from Metal King Studios. Since then, I have bought most of the model line for myself at MSRP. This video is not sponsored.
BRENT! THIS VIDEO WAS INCREDIBLE! I can't possibly express my gratitude. You've communicated things I've been struggling to say about Relicblade for years. I feel so seen and loved!
Hey Sean! Thanks for bringing Relicblade to the world, it brings joy to a lot of people :-)
Thank you for the doodles!!!
Hey Sean! Love the minis and just added the starter set to my Christmas list. Thanks!
Im excited to check it out with my friends on TTS
Sean, thank you so much for such a wonderful game that I have enjoyed playing immensely with my son. The models are some of my most prized miniatures!
Wow, those paintjobs look so good. It is like relicblade was made for your painting style.
Thanks! and right??? It's a great match :-) I love painting these little buddies.
My man, I know that you have been trying to crack the code on how exactly to present this game, and you have done such a good job I could cry!! What a great comprehensive overview of the game and what makes it special and fun. GOSH. Big love!! And that was how I felt before you even mentioned my name or contributions. Amazing, thank you for mentioning Demon Ship and Witty too! haha so rad. Thanks so much my man!
Thanks buddy! I owe ya big for introducing me to this world. I'm so glad that stuff like this exists in our hobby :-)
Relicblade is great, Sean seems great, and all the love they get is 100% deserved.
absolutely!
RelicBlade is a ton of fun! The miniatures basically rehabilitated my relationship with metal as a material to work with (there was a lot of trauma in there, too many nights trying to get giant metal wings onto a plastic body X.X) and the game is a lot of fun! I think it works as both a fantastic introduction to mini wargaming, especially for younger folk, because the game is so intuitive and fast-paced. But it also has a ton of strategy and variety. Plus I love the lil gnomes :D
Oh yeah, gnomes are great :-)
"And whatever these are." The Stone Kin is just that - A Stone person. And the Cleric model is a female Handrak. They're dragon people. The Handraks nearly brought the world to it's doom. They're more rare these days.
Ya learn something new every day! TY Malev :-)
Could not be happier to see this video! Relicblade rocketed to the top of my list when I realized I could teach it to almost anyone. It's also an incredible palate cleanser from Games Workshop products because of how different the vibe is.
Agreed! I'm really glad Relicblade exists :-)
Also, as a big Apostles of the Deep fan, I wanted to politely say, "Gill-Blin". It's a little cuter name for a fish themed goblin.
Hehehe, yeah... I read it / said it wrong for like a year and now it's too late to change :-)@@chadkittleson5447
Excellent choice starting with the gilblins. Those fish hooked me when I first saw them
They're so simple, and sooo gooood! :-)
Love the look of Relic Blade. The imagery shouts 'fun' and the small table requirements are perfect for me too.
100% :-)
Relicblade is so fuuuun. And it's so clear what a labor of love it is for Sean. As always, l love to see the amazing indie games you highlight and so such a lovely job painting for! (Also hey! That's me!)
Right? Relicblade is so good! I love this world of indie games, and I'm excited to see what you do with Night Thirst too :-)
Thank you so much!!!@@GoobertownHobbies 🦇
@@wittlegoblin This is like the coming together of the Wholesome Creator Cinematic Universe! :)
Oh I love that haha, this hobby is such a positive one and it makes me so happy!@@Ainar86
I’d never even heard of Relicblade before this video, but one minute in and I’m already sold. You do a great job of communicating the nuances of stuff like this.
hehehehe, those gilblins will getcha every time :-)
Great video Goobs! As always I appreciate you highlighting indie games/models on your channel!!
hey thanks! I'm glad you like this stuff :-)
After Miniac talked about Relicblade, I looked at their website. And I immediately got the two player starter set. Unfortunatly I didn't paint a lot since orctober. But I'm really looking forward to painting those Relicblade miniatures.
Thank you for this video. It got me all hyped up again.
Brent's videos have a style of presentation that make them stand out above the rest - nicely done!
Relicblade is so much fun. And it being a small game makes it so it doesn't feel like a chore to set it up, even on a kitchen table AND you can play a few games back to back.
yupyup!
In this house we stand Hilda Mildew (currently unemployed)… I have never feel so identify with a mini, thank you very much
Hehehehe, Oh yeah, Hilda Mildew has strong energy :-)
I keep wanting to get into Relicblade, and it keeps getting put off. It's Christmas, and I'm not putting it off anymore. Thank you! And thank you for showing how much you love and care for this hobby with every video.
Woo!! Merry Christmas! :-)
I do love me some Relicblade minis, BATTLEPIGS FOR LIFE!
You do love u some battle Pigs 🐖 :-)
Great video. Thanks for putting the spotlight on a small, Indy company. You’ve got me interested in Relic Blade now. Thanks for all you do for the hobby of mini painting, ttrpg’s and ttwg’s.
I really enjoy the art style of this game system
hehehe, me too!! :-)
Such a fun game, with a fantastic theme and style.
Also Sean is such a great person, and the sketches he adds to each book is really great. Such a nice personal touch.
100% 🙂
I do love smaller companies 🥺. Deffinetly gonna check this out at some point. And shrimp: pink basecoat, alternating orange and white drybrush, 50/50 water and red ink or contrast to tie together
Hehehehe, thanks for the clutch shrimp-tips! :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies I can't help myself. I just want to see you paint shrimp. Gaming needs more silly lil guys armed with food.
This is awesome, think I will look into this a bit deeper. This Relicblade looks like a very interesting game.
thanks for checkin it out hehehehe
Played my first game of Relicblade yesterday thanks to your video. Loved it and will definitely keep on playing. It's such a fun system.
That's great to hear!! :-)
I love these minis so much. I'm going to have to start saving up to get some.
I've never played Relicblade, but I found out about them a couple months ago because they had precisely what I needed for a Pathfinder character of mine. Nowhere else could I find a gnome with a musket-like gun and the all-important pointy hat.
And there's the boy at 7:30! I kitbashed him up a tiny bit to act as my character.
that's our boy! :-)
The model line is so good :-)
Sean needs to add a Rabid Fanbase to Relicblade. 😄
Indeed! I'm experimenting with video titles on this one, but the fanbase IS rabid :-)
So I was not hallucinating when I thought I had seen a different title. Try adding the keyword “viral” ;-)
What an amazing love letter to this game
Me too! I had the pleasure of meeting Sean at LVO in 2018. Total pleasure to meet and talk with. His forward in the Seekers Handbook hand me hooked on what he is doing and why. I try to back each of his kickstarters and show my appreciation. Sadly I've only played less than a dozen games; but someday, someday.
I've only played 2 games myself, but that's alright! I'm having a great time painting and collecting :-) I'm pumped for that upcoming kickstarter!
I'm going to definitely look into Relicblade now. Thanks, Brent.
that's the spirit :-)
A Newbertown Goobertown? It’s a blessing! A blessing from the gods!
gooooooob mornin!!!
Goobertown makes me happy.
I love the art style so much, its my 2024 goal to get the hang of the stylized anime like art
I knew you would :-)
😢
RELICBLADE HAS SHRIMP MEN. Little Shrimp Harpooners 🥺. They're adorable.
don't mess with the shrimps! :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies I can't wait to finish my current big project and then move on to all my little fish men
Relicblade got the charming miniatures
Thank you Brent. Your videos always make me smile. Keep well. 🖖
have a great day! :-)
Im a very simple man, i hear Undead faction and im sold immediately. 😂
Hehehe, I haven't even gotten to that one yet! :-)
Models that don't fall off the desk from a strong breeze always get my vote!
Oh, they've got some weight to them! :-)
Relicblade is my favourite game. Sean has put so much love into it and it shows, and Malev's painting is insane. I'm so glad I randomly stumbled on it all those years ago.
It really is something special :-)
Relicblade is genius. 2x2 is a great size, and the small model count BUT with upgrades still feels like you have a lot of choices to make, both before and during play. I can't recommend it enough.
It really is pretty special :-)
Thanks for the great video about my favorite game. For me, best way to start was the Storms of Kural bundle with the Seekers Handbook. Also, Sean is planning a kickstarter in January for new factions. Jump into the Relicblade pool; the water is fine.
I've gotta paint faster if I'm gonna be ready for that kickstarter! That crone model that is being teased looks niceeee :-)
Very cool! It's not what I usually play, but if I'm ever wanting to play a miniatures skirmish game, I'll be going for Relicblade for sure! Maybe I'll even pick up some of those minis, there are some I might want to add to my general minis collection for use in my RPGs. ;)
Very much enjoy watching videos on smaller games above standard Warhammer stuff that everyone does. So much more fun to explore! :D
Great video, Brent!
Oh yeah, there are some great possibilities for RPG minis in here, I'm glad I could share these with ya! :-)
Appreciate it, always! :D
My absolute favorite game ...and fanbase! 😆
yupyup! :-)
Sean is great and my favorite thing is about him is his depth of creativity. Want something darker? Go look at Sludge.
Agreed! I'll get to sludge one of these days :-)
Apostles of the Deep are "Adversary" by definition, but I play them like a neutral team in my head cannon that has them like a too aggressive Green Peace.
They really do have a great art style.
right???? :-) It's joyous!
Liked this video more than I thought I would. Nice feel good vibes.
It was a video tutorial by Sean Sutter that initially got me into miniature painting. Really happy to see his work getting some love!
That's a great video! Sean is a good egg :-)
Relicblade makes me happy too! Awesome video. I love all of my Relic Blade minis and the game is fantastic. Thanks for spotlighting this wonderful game!
right on! It's always nice to meet another fan of relicblade :-)
Great video as usual. Let’s see if Santa brings me any of these this year.
Fingers crossed! :-)
Gilblin. Like goblins but with gills! Amazing stuff.
Hehehehe, I know, but I read it wrong a few years ago and it got stuck in my head. both are pretty funny :-)
I had looked into Relicblade before and so it was on my radar but this video just catapulted it to the top of my buy next list. Keep up the great work!
hehehe, that's what I like to hear! Have fun with relicblade :-)
Great game with amazing minis. I have Akhad realm gnomes and they are both amazing and fun!
that's awesome! :-)
Loads of fun, as always.
It's so refreshing to interact with Sean and the Relicblade ecosystem. This game puts your enjoyment first, instead of squeezing you at every turn for more money, and compromising the creative vision in favour of sales and marketing demands.
I'm saving my hobby bucks for the upcoming Kickstarter. Can't wait to see what new stuff Sean and Malev have cooked up.
P.S. Brent, your paint jobs look epic!
right? I'm getting ready for that kickstarter too!
Are there any details on this Kickstarter anywhere? I'm interested.
This is the most current information available :-) ruclips.net/video/IuwAkOPQaDk/видео.html Sean does a kickstarter about once a year to expand the game with new models and new game modes. It's sounding like MAYBE next month!@@dwarrenmsp
@@GoobertownHobbies Awesome! I'll look into it. I've been hearing about Relicblade all over the place and the size and "simplicity" of it is really appealing to me. This video may have pushed me over the edge.
RelicBlade is a charming game! Fantastic video!
I recently purchased a massive kickstarter game set called Drakerys. Drakerys is a tabletop skirmish game where Dwarves, Elves, Orcs and Humans fight for supremacy in ancient kingdoms. Each of these factions use elementals to aid them in battle. I got the top tier lot and I purchased it dirt cheap. I paid $220 AU for a $1016 lot. Really happy with it. Only downside is I’ll be painting for a year to complete it.
oh hey that looks pretty neat!!! nice haul, have fun painting :-)
The way you said, “Hilda Mildew (currently unemployed)” for some reason hit my funny bone and brought a big smile to my face.
I have been loving the models from when you first started to use them in videos. Very interested in getting my hands on some!
Hehehe, I hope you pick some cuties! :-)
Ooh, those minis look really nice! I've been working on a few conversion-projects where these would fit perfectly. :)
Nice! Yeah it's a fun range :-)
Easy to sit in the WH cheerleading squad, thx for championing other quality creators in the hobby.
I'm tryin! :-)
So good to see the appreciation shared in this video
Great Video! This video wholeheartedly captures Relicblade in its purest form! Im gonna share the hell out of this!
hehehehe, that's what I like to hear! :-)
I’m a simple man, I see Relicblade I press like and share.
that's the spirit! You're a true Relicbud :-)
Relicblade makes me happy too! So did this video. Sean deserves all the love.
This was wonderful. Thanks for this video!!
Very enjoyable! Shrimp look great. But, I think they need more highlights and a gloss varnish to make them shiny and wet looking like shrimp are. Also, I think a lot of shrimp aren't pink until they are cooked, so go wild with the colours.
Happy to see the game on here, I haven't done much yet, but I did get some battle pigs a while back simply because there aren't nearly enough pig species in things! Though now I'm rather tempted to grab a giblin at some point. Wow, I hadn't seen the botanist, really want that one now too. Plus the color scheme is basically my default in a lot of games, so that might have had to do with me being so drawn to that one. It's also inevitable that I will eventually get Verminmouth; even in games where I'm not playing rats, I'm playing rats.
I definitely prefer plastic, but the metal did make me kind of nostalgic to the few 40k metal models I bought long ago.
I like the way your mind works! I'm glad to hear you're liking some of the same elements that I do :-)
Love this game so much. I show it to friends every chance i get!
that's what I like to hear!!! 🙂
I bought into the game after seeing this video. Thanks alot! He drew a wild elf witch in my book.
That's awesome!!! :-)
Currently painting and playing Moonstone, but I might have to give this a try sometime down the line! Great video
Awesome! I've got my eye on moonstone, it seems like it might scratch the same kind of itch for an indie game with a ton of character :-)
I'm so glad you found this indie war game and brought it to a huge audience! I've been admiring Relic Blade for a long time and wanting someone to bring it into a lime light!
heck yeah! relicblade is good stuff! sean's had a dedicated fandom for a while, but it's sloowwwlly getting bigger! :-)
Awesome video, I love seeing smaller companies or less known ones given some hype! If definitely helps find new adventures!
heck yeah! keep hunting for these gems! :-)
Ive seen that Destroyer pig model floating around but never knew what it was from. But now i need a shrimp army
Oh yeah, the 2-player starter set has 8 models from 8 different factions in the game, and the destroyer pig is the battle pig from that 2-player starter box :-) The shrimp are sold separately hehehe
The colours you use remind me of the old Confrontation paint set colours, very vivid and also those paint's were supposed to be designed for use on metal, drying them on a radiator or with a hair dryer was supposed to aid bonding to the metal (not sure if this was true). It is a game I have been considering so may pick up some minis in the near future.
oh yeah, confrontation was great! :-) Thanks for checkin this out!
Heard about Sean through his latest work, SLUDGE. Love the look of Relicblade
It's really cool :-)
What a terrific video... Just full of joy.. With the painting to match. The bright punchy style is perfection. Brent's enthusiasm is infectious. I guess I'll be learning Relic Blade in 2024. How cool.
thanks Jim! These are a lot of fun to paint... you definitely should give it a look! :-)
OKAY OKAY I'll paint my relicblade minis in 2024!!! but only because they look so damn awesome and the game looks so damn fun!!!!
That's the spirit! :-)
yay Dana !
I wanna paint your games eventually too Malev!!!! Very cool stuff you've been working on lately!!! @@SPACENOMADMALEV
It really is a breath of fresh air
thanks from Brazil!!
Relicblade looks cool, but the REAL headline of this video is Brent's sweet-looking burgeoning beard!
the cheeks don't come in strong enough :-( The only viable options are combinations of mustache, goatee, or soul patch... :-( but at least relicblade makes me happy! :-)
Gonna buy the skeletons. I really love Ossiarch and I think I'll buy some Ossiarch as well as the Relicblade skeleton minis! They share a cool lineage to me and the styles will compliment each other super well
I painted up two warbands for this game and have been dying to play. If you ever find yourself free and in Maine I'd be down for a game lol. Glad to see it getting some love
That looks really neat, love the minis. It would be neat if they offered like an STL and app option at some point for those not interested in metal minis and physical cards, would very much be into that sort of option if they offered it at some point. Probably too much to expect a single creator to take on but seems like something that would work well for an indie like this that uses a low model count.
I totally understand- I think Sean guards his sculpt files to protect against piracy (and to have quality control over how his models look in the wild) Maybe someday a limited taster set or something will be available!
Awesome stuff! Indie games are awesome, and Relicblade is the best fantasy skirmisher I've come across. Such a great game. Love seeing you get the word out about stuff like this, it deserves it!
Heck yeah! Tell your friends and family about Relicblade! :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies haha, friends have already been dragged in. Family though... That's gonna be a tougher sell. Still, can't know until you try, right? :p
great video thank you for introducing me to this fun looking game
My pleasure :-)
Hullo Brent, As I watched this video I kept feeling like I had seen this before as it just felt so familiar to me! Now perhaps I had played this or something similar before? Well I believe that it just came down to being so much like the Final Fantasy games! Now that is not good nor bad, but I am glad you have put this video out where more of us can see this game and get more involved should we desire to do so!
Well done Sir! Thanks!!
Hullo! Interesting, I actually haven't spent much time with the final fantasy series, but I'd totally believe there was some inspiration there. They're cool models, I'm glad people are getting a chance to see them, thanks for watchin! :-)
Brent... Dangit... I don't need another miniatures game... Wait.. that's not right...
i DIDN'T need another miniatures game but now I definitely do.
gotcha!!! enjoy your new relicbuds :-)
You are not alone
Wow! Indie & Metal? I need to look into this game.
yes indeed! :-)

Love me some relic blade! Though I'm more of a gamer then a painter so it's been a hard sell for me to buy my own minis. Not having anyone to play with. Maybe one day when I get done with all my other projects...
It's a slow process, but we'll try to find some more players for ya :-)
If you decide to get into relic blade and painting, I cannot highly enough recommend relic blade minis for their ease of painting. Sean must hate painting eyes as much as I do because most of the characters have eyes that fall into one of three categories:
1. Big enough to actually do detail with only small frustration,
2. Hidden behind some other feature (bushy eyebrows, helmet visors etc.)
Or
3. Some sort of creature where I can just paint them black with a pip of white in the corner as a glint of reflection.
