Small lore detail from v1.2 as well that we learn about the Phaethon siblings: When we first crash into a Hollow with Billy on our way into the Outer Ring to meet the Sons of Calydon, it's mentioned by Billy that both of the siblings "have a special condition that means [they] can't be in the Hollows for too long." This means that using the HDD system to sync with Eous is the only way that Phaethon can really do Proxy work, because they can't physically stay within Hollows for extended periods of time.
Yea i was gonna say, if one of the phaethon siblings really will become a hollow investigator they would either have to be in the hollows for a short amount of time (like a time gating mechanic?) or cure their condition
It may also mean something may happen if they stay in Hollow for too long, like causing Hollow to change or attracted powerful Hollow. Remember that they were rescued from the Hollow Zero meaning they were in Hollow for prolong length of time. They seem to be doing fine.

I just rewatched that scene at the end of 1.2 and realized something: There were already Hollows at the time, during Eridu's era. Because, no matter who caused the uncontrolled expansion of Hollow Zero, it was only stopped with the formation of the Chasm. Which happened by detonating fourteen of the Shiyu Pillars. Whose role, as we all know, is to safely siphon the Etheric energy from Hollows. Also, iirc Bangboos were robots made to assist people in navigating the Hollows, especially in helping people out of them. And that they were the invention of the Sunbringer. So there were Hollows then, before the fall of the old capital. And Miyabi herself said Eous was a special Bangboo. We know now why because Carole Arna was probably the leading researcher on the Hollows, given she's made the HDD that works in tandem with Eous, who's probably a next-generation Hollow exploration Bangboo. Maybe that's why the Phaeton Siblings have Eous. If Carole Arna was responsible for saving them after Hollow Zero went amok, maybe it was because of Eous. Who probably also had the plans for the HDD in him. And the early work of Phaeton was probably involved in (re)assembling the HDD system. So... yeah. That single ending scene had so much information, it seems.
rina's story mentions a hollow 41 years ago iirc, and the MCs are like 20 max (does someone have their actual ages?), meaning hollow zero is at most 15 or so years ago (probably more like 5-10). So yeah.
I love how that scene at least gave players an idea for what our Half way point would be. Basically. One Deep dive into the Hollow to find Clues about Carole Arna. A deep dive that will require an Agent to help them with. Makes me wonder who our End game Agents for hollow Exploration in the story will be.
Thanks for these summaries. I missed so much of the story in ZZZ and I'm not skipping cutscenes; I just think it's told in a super-obtuse/confusing way and all the cliff-hangers don't help at all. My hunch is (and has been since chapter 2 of 1.0) that Hollows are either man-made or can be manipulated by people. That's what had me hooked on the story at all. Because if they're just natural disasters, that's cool, but it goes nowhere. If Hollows can be pushed back by killing lots of ethereals, they maybe they can be made bigger too by ... I don't know... pumping in Ether or setting off an ether bomb. I think this is sort of an open secret for anyone who cares to look for it or has enough data. What really tipped me off was the monster in chapter 2.0 and Khors Belobog's disappearance coupled with the hollow disasters having spanned decades. Why cover up the monster? Ethereals are nothing special or new... unless the monster is man-made, perhaps meant to be able to control hollows, ether or something like that. See? That's the cool hook that made me like the story (and why chapter 3 of 1.0 pissed me off so much because it had nothing to do with that). New Eridu is so clearly a world where things are not what they seem, in a good way, and I cannot wait to get more substantive story on this main plot... come on, Hoyo! Enough with the filler stuff.
Hoyo style is: tell 1 story with different element thus different outcome. I have a hypothesis: the fall of old capital are similar to the fall of Pompey. But this time, there are no evident and "Lucius" successful blame and destroy the "Son of Calydon" and became the new "Mayor".
my current theory is arche was mad to be the perfect hollow raider someone partially corrupted but stays sane and is able to stay in hollows indefinitely add in the hdd and you can have a perfect proxy able to get all the information they find in real time and the AI would complete the puzzle allowing perfect calculations for any and all data needs Billie makes a comment that the proxies have a special condition making it so they cant stay in hallows too long which implies its now low ether resistance or they would have said so maybe the siblings are both the perfect proxy and the perfect raider but if they stay in a hallow too long they would become half ethereal which would have a bunch of risks most importantly the real culprits behind hallow zero could find them i think it will be a mix of good and bad people in the government as we have seen both a mix government corruption and evil corporations as well as good from both with the playable characters we have
It was shown that either both twins or just the Twin you play as has a condition that makes them faint if the stay in a hollow for too long. I think this is probably a Side effect of how the H.D.D in some way, whatever way it lets them connect with Eous makes them unable to stay in a hollow normally without losing conciousness
that's just their low ether resistance, characters need a certain level of ether resistance to legally operate and survive hollows, our mcs dont have that
@MGS-lore-enthusiast False, If they had low Ether Aptitude, they would've been corrupted like Silver Fang or The New Weekly Boss (not saying name for anyone who hasn't seen the 1.2 story). To our knowledge, people don't faint when they stay in hollows past their recommended time. They start to corrupt and turn into an Ethereal
