Great update Kev finally finished my foundations now the digging has commenced can’t wait to start my bog filter I’m sure I will re-watch all your videos on them again 👍
Thank you soo much for these valuable information through your videos.I was watching most of your videos today and i looked on the day of your posts, brother if this informations have been here few years before i could have saved a lot of money spended on different filters, pumps and uv ( not only me, may be many of those who are watching this).I am going to setup bog filter system for my medium koi pond as per these valuable information and i already shared your channel link to my pond lovers friends to save their time and money. Great work man, great information.
Wow, I didn't know that you had a blog, that's awesome. You should put a link to it on each footer of your video descriptions, I'm sure that I was not the only fan that didn't know about your blog.
The day after I added a waterfall box and lots of bio balls, my water cleared up. I clean the foam filter about every 5 - 7 days and rinse the balls off in a bucket filled with pond water. This cleans the crap off them but leaves the bacteria. In my 2nd pond I run water through a smaller filter box and clean the foam filter and replace polyester quilt lining. Then water runs from the box through gravel and back into the main water.
Hi Kev , can you surgest set ups for apartment patio filters ? I really don’t have an option for electricity other than suspending mains cable across the top ! Thanks for some informative videos .
Hi Kev. I've watched several of your bog filter videos and read articles on your blog. I'm building my own and hope to make it work this week. Do I need to do anything to start the beneficial bacteria in the bucket? Or they'll start to grow themselves?
Sorry about this. Hopefully you will take some advice. I'm an open match angler. What causes blue green algae is bread settling duck shit. No oxygen. Fished in France/South Africa/Kenya etc. As a gent I use whisker barb hook's. Disgorge hook. Catch and release.
Yesterday, my bog filter overflowed and drained 3/4 of the water from the pond onto the garden. I replaced some of the lost water from my water butt. Today, the heavens opened and refilled the pond with rainwater. My pond is now crystal clear.
Do you have a readit group at all? I've been watching your videos for a while and I have started building a pond with your tips :). I'm in South East Queensland
When you were in the pond cleaning it, isn’t all the dirty stirred up muck in the water bad for the fish? I would’ve thought that it couldn’t be healthy for them.
I did. Anoxic Pond Filter ruclips.net/video/19m3OPvzpBQ/видео.html it’s no longer in operation I’ve since converted it back to a bog filter. There’s a few update videos before I gave up.
Sometimes if I’m about to get a lot of rain I will open up the valve and give it a mini flush. But if I’m doing a full drain then yes I’ll turn the pump off so it doesn’t run dry.

Thanks mate. You’re right I should add that in. Not many people go to the blog.

If you’re happy with the amount of maintenance and getting good results that’s all that matters. Well done Bob 👍
Good Video as always! keep it up Kev
Thanks Chris I appreciate the support 😊👍
Good info. Thanks again.

G’day Thuy. They will grow themselves 👍

😂 that’ll do it Ray. Hopefully you’ve fixed the overflow issue 👍
@@Ozponds I have a valve between the pump and the filter, I need to be more careful in matching the flow in and out of the filter

That’s awesome Ben. No readit group just the blog and RUclips.👍
When you were in the pond cleaning it, isn’t all the dirty stirred up muck in the water bad for the fish? I would’ve thought that it couldn’t be healthy for them.
G’day Cher. It doesn’t seem to bother them at all.
My pumps being pulled into and cleaned off stringy algae every day and I'm having to spin my filter.
That sounds like a pain. 😬
Anoxic filters? I am intrigued did you build one yet?
I did. Anoxic Pond Filter

You mentioned that you cant keep Kio in your pond, and was curious on why this is?
Illegal in the most of Australia to keep koi. I believe only NSW and WA allow koi.
Do you turn off the pumps when you drain from the bottom of the bog filter?
Sometimes if I’m about to get a lot of rain I will open up the valve and give it a mini flush. But if I’m doing a full drain then yes I’ll turn the pump off so it doesn’t run dry.
For a non-english speaker, can you tell me the name of the plants you recommend to plant on top of your filters?
G’day Omar. The one you’ll see in all the videos is called bacopa monnerieri. Hope that helps 👍
mine i used all plants filter no maintenance at all
Great stuff 👍
What's your dog's name?
Coco
@@Ozponds Cool.. be ironic if your didn't like Coco as a hot beverage to sit by the ponds with. I like Coco.☕
