    Wow, I didn't know that you had a blog, that's awesome. You should put a link to it on each footer of your video descriptions, I'm sure that I was not the only fan that didn't know about your blog.

    The day after I added a waterfall box and lots of bio balls, my water cleared up. I clean the foam filter about every 5 - 7 days and rinse the balls off in a bucket filled with pond water. This cleans the crap off them but leaves the bacteria. In my 2nd pond I run water through a smaller filter box and clean the foam filter and replace polyester quilt lining. Then water runs from the box through gravel and back into the main water.

      If you’re happy with the amount of maintenance and getting good results that’s all that matters. Well done Bob 👍

    Yesterday, my bog filter overflowed and drained 3/4 of the water from the pond onto the garden. I replaced some of the lost water from my water butt. Today, the heavens opened and refilled the pond with rainwater. My pond is now crystal clear.

      😂 that’ll do it Ray. Hopefully you’ve fixed the overflow issue 👍

      @@Ozponds I have a valve between the pump and the filter, I need to be more careful in matching the flow in and out of the filter

    Hi Kev. I've watched several of your bog filter videos and read articles on your blog. I'm building my own and hope to make it work this week. Do I need to do anything to start the beneficial bacteria in the bucket? Or they'll start to grow themselves?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 года назад +1

      G’day Thuy. They will grow themselves 👍

      Sorry about this. Hopefully you will take some advice. I'm an open match angler. What causes blue green algae is bread settling duck shit. No oxygen.
      Fished in France/South Africa/Kenya etc.
      As a gent I use whisker barb hook's. Disgorge hook. Catch and release.

    When you were in the pond cleaning it, isn’t all the dirty stirred up muck in the water bad for the fish? I would’ve thought that it couldn’t be healthy for them.

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 года назад

      G’day Cher. It doesn’t seem to bother them at all.

    Do you turn off the pumps when you drain from the bottom of the bog filter?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  2 года назад

      Sometimes if I’m about to get a lot of rain I will open up the valve and give it a mini flush. But if I’m doing a full drain then yes I’ll turn the pump off so it doesn’t run dry.

    You mentioned that you cant keep Kio in your pond, and was curious on why this is?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 года назад +1

      Illegal in the most of Australia to keep koi. I believe only NSW and WA allow koi.
