Awesome video, I’m using my iPad with a powered hub adapter to transfer images from a SD card that is used in my DSLR camera to a SSD, the iPads or iPhones are only able to detect external drives if they are configured ( formatted ) as exFAT or FAT, the problem is that you can not encrypt it when is formatted FAT or exFAT, the SSD is always open ( no password ). with your video information I might be able to lock my SSD or files . Thank you again.
That is correct, as the volume would stay encrypted even after unlocking your drive. The caveat, as with any form of encryption, is that the volume has to be decrypted whenever you want to access or edit the contents inside the volume. Meaning if you go to edit a document, it has to be decrypted, and the contents will stay decrypted until you lock that virtual volume again.

That’s a really interesting use case! Glad to hear this was helpful.
Can this be used for specific files you want always encrypted when your filevault decrypts your drive ? Good vid.
