Looks great I use 10 gauge stereo wire shoved under the rubber to hold it out so the paint can go underneath then when dry just remove it way cheaper than trim tape
The 3 stage pearl looks amazing Pharraway, I've always said you should be a full time painter as you are very skilled in what you do, you always get some really clean jobs out of your booth👏🙏👍John UK
You are one of THE BEST "at home" painters that shows us how a guy/gal CAN paint at home in the garage/car port with proper setup and achieve professional results. You have been MY inspiration to paint my Goldwing in candy, although my technique could use improvement. I've received nothing but praises on my job, although I can see all the flaws😅 "Problem" with pearl is that they're very difficult to see on video but, there is a sign of it if you look close enough with that slight hint of yellowish/pinkish hue as most white with pearl does. Keep up the great instructional work you do for the rest of us "wannabee" painters😁😎 I'm planning to repaint my Goldwing with black with pearl this coming fall/winter, to match my wife's 2021 Camry SE...🫣🤫
This is great video showing that consistently slow & steady works! I am not saying slow gun movement during the spray, but flash time, the spray pattern the starting point, that muscle memory you build, the overlap coverage and as said many times, think like a robot. Question; To estimate paint in gallons or liters, how much other than clear was needed? I have a 67 C10 W/Wood bed, but a complete. 2 gallons of each color as jambs, (Top is white) inside bed & Cabin? You have some of the best paint videos on RUclips and I subscribed a number of years back. It is just folks are outside to do maintenance, neighbors mow every two days, building new porch or heaven forbid having fun in a pool, sea or camping. I frequently watch a few at 6AM or late after 10PM, but hate to see viewing numbers drop. Some years worse than others but the price of everything is up, so fixing cars, babysitting and one is night security at building site. Second jobs are needed for retired people sad to say. I am dodging high heat, rain and humidity to sand rust on roof valleys & fireplace chimney to prime, cold galvanize and paint. No one else will do it! Things get better. God bless those who help themselves right? DK.
You did a great job but i prefer a little bit if a tinted pearl over white then just a pearl white. Maybe a gold, blue tint... Just a touch of another colored pearl but that's beautiful 😍
@@Cultofpersonality09129 STFU.... I'm not talking about his work or the customers preference. I'm saying I personally like to see it different for my personal projects. That's why it's custom paint. Great job Chris, wanted to ask you a question, when you tack rag between coats, first what tack rags do you use and second have you ever had a reaction from the tacking between coats??
So nice! Love that you tell us what psi you run your different stages at as well as what the overlap is!!! What compressor do you use? How many gallons?
I don’t know what part of the country you are but it’s super hot here. 95 in the shade and super humid. I’m in south Florida. I have a cover can I still paint. I want to finish my truck. The panel will be in the shade but the air temps are screaming.
Look awesome. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos. Very helpful. Do you remember what the name of the pearl white color you use was? UREChem has several pearl whites. I just got color samples for most of them. Do you have a good experience with the UREChem paint? Thanks!
Sweet job dude!!! Did you epoxy primer,2kprimer, wet sanded then used sealer? Question is why seal it after sanding initial primer, was the primer outside of recoat window or just better practice to seal and straight to paint?
I noticed that you changed the air pressures on the spray gun when you went from a sealer to a base coat to clear why do you have to do that can you just set the gun to one pressure and that’s it please explain
Clear coat needs more air to break it down for better finish , sealer and base coat has almost similar viscocity lower viscosity requires less air to atomize that well
@@junhao1269 next? Do you block sand first with guide coat then wet sand what type of of sanding blocks you use so when you wet sand is there any type of order you use like when you use guide coat
@@larrygriffin7024 most of the time we first dry sand the guide coat first and finish it up with wet sanding for better finish, then pressure wash it , wax and grease remove and tack it up with tack cloth For the sanding block, it depends on our needs, many professionals use durablock or 3M block , type of block may differ depends on the panel contour, for cheaper options we can use woods for straight panel or rubber slippers and cut it accordingly to the size of the sandpaper that we want
@@larrygriffin7024 for primer use you can use block or DA sander for large area, for hard to reach area just scuff it down by hand to avoid sanding thru the primer, for blocking is better to use diagonal motion for better sanding mark

You should be an instructor. You're awesome with that paint gun!

Thanks man ! I gotta do a 3 stage pearl this week and it's my first attempt at a tri coat. Just in time !
When i watch your vids i use the point your compressor kicks on to judge air consumption of the gun

I was going to paint my truck in pieces from the main body
Fenders and hood separate
Did you do the jambs.
Not yet will show that on the next video
