Much obliged - great review! Looks ideal for rough measuring loft space dimensions, especially when in confined spaces with precarious footing. Cheers 🙂
No problem at all ! I actually reviewed a much better device recently, check out my most recent video on my channel if interested ! 👍🏻
Ordered one today for the pure purpose of measuring rooms for sqm to price up jobs. Sounds like a good buy for this from your review 👍🏼
Will do the job perfectly for that purpose mate ! You’ll have no probs at all with it ! Thanks for the comment buddy 👍🏻
Thanks for the review. This is one I'm looking at. I'm also considering the QM1626 20m one. I've noticed some list their range as 0.05m (5cm) to 20m. Any idea what that may mean? For example, if you have a room 3.00m high does that mean it would show it as 2.95m?
You got a new subscriber from the middle earth map alone but great to find a fellow english carpenter!
Well then you’ll love the tattoo on the back of my leg… see if you can spot it in some of my videos ! Cheers for the sub fella ! Really appreciated ! You on any socials that I can follow you ?
Thanks mate for the review. I just bought mine today for $45 AUD and love it. When I was playing with all the settings, I thought I was missing how to set it to measure from the front instead of the rear of the device but I think it only measured from the rear - which is fine with me anyway, no need to measure from the front I guess.
No problem at all ! Glad I could help ! You can measure from the front or back but I haven’t worked out how to set it between, I just randomly notice that I’ve changed it 😂
How do you change the setting from back of device to front of device and back cheers
As a commercial gas engineer I have to calculate pipe volumes when testing for leaks. Rather than using a conventional tape through false ceilings, or measuring at high level using a step ladder, I use a Bosch laser measurer. My Bosch is on the blink, I’ve had it for nearly 10 years so this looks to be a cheap but good replacement for it.
I would say this one or the Huepar one that I reviewed on my channel, both good but the Huepar has more functions 👍🏻
I keep it in pocket for quick estimates and rough ideas. Pretty handy.
Yes mate, same here, very handy little tool 👍🏻
I feel stupid, I cant figure out how to make it change from measuring from the back of the unit to the front. Can you tell me how please?
I checked with dewalt, they say it's not possible to change it to measure from the front
great vid! just what I was looking for. Going toolstation tomoz!👍
Wicked Matthew, did you buy one ? 🍻
Good vid mate. Just subbed 👍
Cheers mate and welcome !
I’ve used a laser measuring device for years. I’m a commercial gas engineer and I use it for measuring pipework. When I have to do a pressure test, I need to know the length of all diameter pipes to enable me to calculate the amount of gas in the pipes. I don’t need to be millimetre perfect, so these are ideal, the alternative in a measuring tape, but these are way quicker, plus I can measure pipes from the ground, I don’t need to be getting a ladder/scaffold etc.
I currently use a Bosch one ( it’s been a great unit, but now it’s 15 years old ) but am going to buy this one, as it’s only just over £29 in Toolstation today, still a bargain.
I still carry mine about for quoting due to its small size, I have a Bosch with I use for measuring up when I want a few more features but this little thing still comes in handy
Personally, I really love the Bosch GLM165-40 BLAZE. It reaches 165 feet with great accuracy. It can add or subtract multiple measurements as well as calculate square footage and the volume of a space. There is also a memory bank which can hold the previous measurements between power cycles.
The BLAZE 165 holds a good charge, is robust (impressive fall, water, and dust resistance), and it comes with a Velcro pouch and loop for wearing on a belt. It’s not as cheap as the DeWalt, but for the added features, the price point of $85 felt very fair after a few months use. Anyways, that’s just my two cents on an alternative option like you asked for. Hope you get a chance to check it out. Keep up the content mate. Cheers!
Thanks for that info. I was between the blaze 100 and this dewalt. Wondering if the blaze would’ve been better. Went with dewalt because of the size and I’m using to measure grease hood lengths. But when measuring room volume, sounds like blaze would’ve been better.
i do wooden studwork on modular buildings at the moment. would this be any good for me or should I go for the more expensive one at £49.99
I have done a review recently of one that I would recommend over this one, it’s the Huepar one on my channel buddy
@@LTWCarpentry ooo ill check it out now thanks.
@@Samboy666 wicked mate 👍🏻
Would it be good enough and accurate for skirting boards ?
Yes it would but I would encourage you too but the Huepar one that I have done a video on, it’s a much better device and cost the same.
How do you change it from the front or the back?
I’ll be honest buddy, I have no idea, I’ve been looking at it for an hour now trying everything ! Even search online
would you trust it for measuring wall to wall for skirting?
would it be accurate enough for not needing tape measure for the longer lengths
Yes I would for skirtings as I wouldn’t be worried if they was a mm or so out, I wouldn’t trust it for doing anything that’s had to be bang on though, but in saying that I wouldn’t trust any of these in that instance.
Does it remember the units after it turns itself off? Or do you have to toggle through each time
It’s dose indeed buddy 👍🏻
Mine was 30mm out so I just chucked it and bought a proper tape measure
Really ? Bloody hell ! I would have taken it back. I don’t really see this as a replacement for a tape measure, they work alongside one
Wicked video babe xxxx
Thank you babes xxxx
Can this laser tape measure be calibrated
I don’t think they can be if I’m honest mate
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 xxxx
Goo review like that
Thank you very much !
Thank you for this, sadly the fact that i have to charge it makes it a no buy for me
Can I ask why buddy ? Just out of interest more then anything.
@@LTWCarpentry I'm a tradie working on sites so it means that a) for sure i am gonna need it and will be dead at some point b) charging it will be a difficult task
You’d rather have batteries? Lol
I’ve got one of these and i think it’s absolutely shite! It’s 4-5mm out on everything!
Ohh really ! That interesting ! Maybe I should get another an compare the results of the pair !
Is there a chance you have it set to measure from the front or the back, and you were expecting the opposite of what it was set to?
@@chilecayenne this is also very possible !! Well worth a double check !
@@LTWCarpentry lol maybe he is making his cuts on the wrong side of his measurements that would account for 5mm out on everything
@@shadowbanned5164 this could be the case but 5mm out would be a bloody big pencil mark 😂😂
