Another good vid! Not doubt Yeti still the king of soft coolers. I dig the magnets as well, but if I could only own 1 soft day cooler I'd still go with the Yeti Backflip. Haven't had any issues with the zipper (knock on wood). I do try to chap stick it from time to time. I like the look of the Hopper M30, but carrying a thousand pound purse over one shoulder no matter the distance is pretty high up on my list of no thanks. The backpack design combined with the flat top that doubles as a little workstation are game changers. I've beat the hell out of it, cam strapped to all the handles, sand snow mud you name it - 3 years still going strong!
They did the same thing for me. I bought the original 30 with the top zipper. It broke. They warrantied and sent me the updated style with the side zipper. Loved the cooler and did not have issue with the zipper, however, my son kind of put food in it and did not tell anyone, Sat there for a couple of weeks and smelled like a rotting corpse upons opening. No traditional cleaning methods could get this rotting smell out. I tried putting one of those Pool Chlorine tabs in there as a last resort. BAD IDEA. It screwed up the inside and had a chemical reaction with the side creating some thick, yellow paste that covered the inside of the cooler. Nothing Is able to get it off so we contacted Yeti again ... NO QUESTIONS ASKED, they sent us a new m30 2.0 - I am never buying another brand cooler again since Yeti stands by their products for life it appears. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!
You can fit a lot more than you think you can based on its shape . I can stretch and stuff this thing out horizontally and it still closes. I have quite a few high performance soft coolers the closest one that comes to yetis standard that I own or owned is the Otterbox LT30. Even then I concluded the yeti is the absolute best. Its not over designed like the otterbox L30 ,no intricate latches or zippers to brake . which is the common problem with high performance soft coolers , even yeti has that zipper problem. Its so good that I ordered a 2nd m30. The m30 is well thought out ,they have multiple handles that are in exactly the right places. And I absolutely love the magnetic enclosure compared to zippers of any kind in a high performance soft cooler.
Thank you for the review, I am trying to make a decision between the M15 and M30 for a lunch bag I can put in my CanAm. I think I will be going with the bigger one now!
So glad they recalled this cooler. I will be much happier using the Hopper 18 they are replacing it with. That magnetic closure was a pain to use one handed.
I kayak the Chetco & the Smith rivers every summer. I bought all the soft shell coolers and I love them! My buddies and I have ice cold beers throughout our whole trip and our food stays dry. Best coolers I ever bought
I have one of these too. Works great. Holds ice incredibly long for a soft side cooler. We transfer daily items to it in the morning so we aren't opening the big coolers more than necessary. The only problem with the magnets is they make it a pain to fill/empty and to dry out after use. I end up sticking a chunk of wood between the lips to keep it propped open when not in use. Would be nice if they had a way to keep it open.
Yeti customer service was top notch. They also replaced our M30 twice with no receipt. They stood 100% behind their product. RTIC did not stand behind their product like Yeti when our zippers failed. Our M30 stays so cold that sometimes chilled bottled water will freeze when loaded with super cold ice.
I have the M30. It's a great soft cooler. The only issue with the magnet is keeping it open to put things in the cooler. It helps to brace one end of the opening against something and a leg on the other end to keep the magnets apart.
We used an older zipper in the middle top one on the Canyon in June, as our ice dwindled in a larger ice chest, to keep drinks cold. It was a champ in 115 degree heat.
If I may, I like to suggest a topic for a video. Thankfully I've never wrapped my boat, but as any boater should I practice z drags. My question is, how would one go about safely getting to a wrapped boat to set up a self equalizing anchor in the event everyone goes for a swim? I've searched and searched but haven't found this topic discussed. Any ideas? Thanks Zach! I find your channel extremely informative and entertaining! Keep it up!
100% yes. On the river this weekend, I came across my buddy wrapped mid river and we barely got to an eddy next to him. I was wondering how we’d get to his boat to attach a rope if he got separated from his boat. Luckily the boat came off when his crew climbed up the rock and everyone was ok. I spent the rest of the trip thinking about how we’d get back to his boat safely in the middle of the current if needed.
There is no easy answer for getting on the boat when it wraps. It completely depends on the situation and what other boats you have with you. Typically there is someone on the boat that wrapped.
@@scottleggejr the m20 did I love it and it's a backpack as well. The magnetic piece is what did it for me. I got tired of buying coolers with zippers because they would eventually rip. The m20 has lots of space as well for your drinks.
Canyon soft coolers are like the exact same as Engel hd series. That only tells us that brands like that come from the same manufacturer in China just rebranded. Im not a fan of that shiny tpu coated exterior that almost all cheaper brands have. I owned an rtic 40 and it felt cheap, definitely not worth for the materials and build. Because mine failed in under a year. If you are going with value ozark trails are built very well. But for pure Quality yeti is king
You're not wrong, but our zipper broke on my hopper and yeti sent me a brand new cooler this same m30 he reviewed here. We love em for coolers and cups but not enough to spend $300 on a camp chair lol
I have quite a few high performance soft of different brand coolers including the m30 and backflip24. I concluded that yetis build are superior to any soft cooler out there. For example I had an rtic 40 and the trim on the lid began to peel off. The adhesive that held it together started to fail. I kid you not ozark trail is better built that rtic and a better value. With that said you get what you pay for and yeti is pure Quality!

This may be something to think about. I saw this a few weeks ago.

@@willbain8812 Great idea! Thanks so much for the tip!
A love of magnets, shiny things, glow in the dark stuff, and stickers... we are separated at birth.
Check out yeti load ring. Some guy cut the top of a home depot bucket. It works perfect.

I use a tall smart water brand bottle to prop it open. They also sell after market tools to keep and prop the open. They are all over eBay and etsy.
The 2.0 stays open

I'm looking at the M20 backpack and so torn... that price tag is rough. 🤨
Set aside a few bucks a month and it might not seem so much after a year. You are right, it's not cheap.
What about ice/cold retention, I am guessing no comparison to a rotomolded?
Greetings from Arizona. :) No. Hard vs Soft isn't a competition. Hard wins 100% of the time, but heavy.
They didn’t back up my hard cooler. Bear proof yes but not squirrel proof. Squirrels chewed chunks off the top of the yeti 45
Ahh but it’s not advertised as squirrel proof
What's the cost!?!
Would this fit in a golf cart basket?
It depends on how big the golf cart basket is

They should have done the zip and magnets
Funny stuff I love magnets 🧲 too. You make me laugh
I hate the magnets, it’s like a Venus fly trap every time you want a drink. You need 3 hands
That said, thanks for video, I was wondering why they switched from the zipper model
Canyon Coolers are way better hard or soft.

Everything with the name Yeti on it is extremely overpriced. Nothing like a five gallon bucket for 40 bucks.

I guess they can back it up because they make 300% profit on it, glad they back it up but no way it’s worth the price
Then don't buy it
