- This week, Sailjuice’s Andy Rice calls up from Turkey to update PlanetSail’s Matt Sheahan on the world of wingfoil racing. One of the big topics is lowest possible take-off windspeed for foiling, a common design challenge for all forms of foiling craft including the AC75s aiming at the next America’s Cup.
Matt reports that the Kiwis have done some digital mapping of all the challengers’ new designs and... surprise, surprise! The Kiwi analysis reveals that it’s none other than their own boat that is looking fastest for the Cup! Real news, or smoke and mirrors? Who knows...
Meanwhile the venerable old J Class yacht, Shamrock V, has been beautifully restored while the IMOCA fleet is ready for a rematch back across the Atlantic in the New York Vendée...

With everything going on in the world , watching, hearing about sailing is wonderful
Matt, I think you may want to concider changing the name of these episods to "Matt and Andy Chat" (for more than 5 mins). 😁
Cheers
Hopefully we see a century ago style fast sailing and new foiling styling fast boats. ...
Sailing history its human history thousands of years!
4 or 5 thosands years sailing we know?
Or further. ..
The womens trophy was revealed the other day. Why is the youth and womens trophy not returned each america's cup cycle and passed to the new winner, like the auld mug itself? I think this would make the trophys more exciting, they will be on public display again, instead of getting dust in a club house.
Maybe pacicans was first sailing to explore?
Love this series! Thanks guys keep it going!
