- The 2014 Cadillac ELR Was the First all Electric Cadillac of its kind. With stunning styling and Cadillac Luxury we take you on a tour and review the 2014 Cadillac ELR! #cadillac #lyriq #ELR #ev #volt #charging #electric #hybrid
the 2014 ELR is NOT an "all electric" vehicle. it is a plug-in gas-electric hybrid vehicle (PHEV)...that was classified as an EV at that time. at 26:33 in this video - the reviewer has opened the hood - there is a gas engine & a drive control module (2 big black plastic covers). the ELR has the T-shaped tall battery which runs between the driver & passenger seats & then behind the rear passenger seats.
also, both the gas engine & motors BOTH run the wheels depending on power demand & battery availability.
I have an ELR and love it!!! Great driving car and have gotten many compliments. Smooth and quiet operation. Rear seats fold down separately.
Yes it is an Amazing car! Love the look of the body style! What Color is yours? a 2014? or 2016?
2014 black with Kona interior. Timeless styling for sure.
@@thejourney7395 Very Nice!
I agree, best looking Cadillac design as we speak.
Excellent video. Just what I needed. Thanks.
Great to hear!
2022 update what's new with your ELR I also have a 2014 elr we need a meet up of only ELR Private Club
In 2024 these are becoming a really neat used car option in the $ teens. There is an outfit in Dallas that can recondition the traction battery for way less than Cadillac wants. And I bet other 3rd party shops will offer their own battery solution with more modern battery chemistry as well.
Where at?
How is the adaptive cruise on these ?
Cars are like women, a good looking once catches your eye ever time; this car does that. IMO Cadillac should be bring this car back but with ALL Electric with today's batteries it would be awesome. Question Can the generator charge the battery while you are driving? Seems like if it does that would really extend your range as you can go on and off battery/generator.
Yes it can..When the battery is depleted the generator provides electric to drive the vehicle..
When in mountain mode the batteries recharge fully at 87 miles also there is a 9.8 gal gas tank that when u put the ELR in hold mode the car runs totally on gas.
I can see why this didn't sell well. $80k and you don't even get power folding mirrors, a power trunk, or a sunroof. Still, I think it's a great looking car and a very interesting one, and I'm planning to buy one very soon.
Yep, those are big detractions aside from the fact the battery life is only about 10 years. I own a 2014. Love the design, but I'm down half of the range I started with.
@@OperationsMgr mine still gets about 37 miles on suburban streets, and about 33 miles on the highway. It has 64k miles. How much energy can you get out of the battery? Mine shows 12.2 KWh per charge.
You really need to read up on what constitutes a; ICE, Hybrid, PHEV, and BEV.
I would love to have an all electric version. Chevy could put one on the Bolt skateboard.
I miss 2 door cars.
Wheels. Polished aluminum.
Lower the off set and stagger the wheel set up flush fitment
Dude is this really your car? two and a half minutes in and you already stated multiple incorrect facts.
Not “all electric,” as you repeatedly say. An “ all electric” car does not contain an internal combustion engine, gas tank and and exhaust. The car is a serial hybrid. The Lyriq is the first genuine al electric Cadillac.
The drive train is an all electric drive train. If it had a larger battery pack it wouldn't need the generator, you can't say that the other way around therfore it's an electric car. I own a 2016.
@@TimeHomicide Your use of terminology wasn’t shared by GM and is misleading in this context. It is a series hybrid - or “electric vehicle with range extender as GM would sometimes describe. It probably has a less than 30 mile range on battery alone. Similar tech was used in a CT6 hybrid made in China. “All electric” means no gas in the car at all. The ELR was well styled, but a disaster in the marketplace. Other than your fundamental error, the video was good in other respects and shows promise.
You are almost there.
The fuel source is a hybrid model- but once again the vehicle is not propelled down the road by a gas engine.
Marketing is whole other conversation. GM has to market to people that don't understand the tech (even today we are still debating it) and still make their ICE vehicles seem desirable. That is very hard to do and a big reason why their is some much confusion. The ELR came out when range anxiety was big which is why the Extended Long Range is in the name. The generator extended the range of the battery pack.
Its almsot like saying your phone isnt eclectic because you change if from a gas fuel source, that wouldn't make much sense now would it?
👍👍👍
Not fully electric! Hybrid

It's not all electric (-;
Not all electric.
It is..the engine is just a generator it never drives the wheels
It only makes electricity
