Years back, I thought Aaron was annoying. Now, looking back at his old skate clips, I realized how sick he was and never realized it was him. I found myself wishing he would become more active in the channel again. This video made that happen and I'm so glad. He did so much for skateboarding on YT and we are all so appreciative 🤙

5:34 diamond used to be, but now it's graphene. Metals don't tend to be all that hard comparitively, but can be very *tough* because they can handle impacts without breaking (but they can also yield which leaves the permanent deformation seen in the metal wheels). Those wheels need to be tough and hard without plastically deforming and leaving lumps
Kinda, Graphene has a higher strength (and so technically, it is harder) but it has a much lower fracture point than diamond, or even steel, so it would break much much more easily...

I love you and the work you do, brother! I did the reverse of you. grew up in Nor cal and moved to Montana. I've loss almost 150 pounds since I've started watching you... I was just under 500lbs the "First Try" i've seen your videos. I still dream of kick flipping someday... I'm still on my health journey, 340 currently... and might have to try and find you when ya'll go on tour and hit montana! Always a fan. Much love! Ive never been a skater, i ride longboards and thats really it for boards, but i was a bmx biker and a scooter kid for a long time and aaron was just a massive influence for me, kept me going for so long and im really glad hes back. I dont do that stuff much anymore these days but i might get back into it now

After watching this, I was inspired to pick up my board that I only ever used once and forgot about. Went to my local skatepark started rolling around and getting comfortable. The first step in SMS. Started rolling up and down some banked quarters and going to fakie then pivoting. Then I slammed. Was fun and glad I got over the initial fear of falling. Got back on. Thanks for the inspiration AK

Theyre is scales in hardness for urethane
Everyone knows A scale like 78a is softest and then 99a hard is standard and 101a is harder
But there is a B scale
And 81b is hard and 84b is harder
Then C scale, no one in skateboarding makes C scale wheels.
They would be harder than B scale wheels
Then D scale that is insanely hard surface,
No skateboard anything exists in this level of hardness. Because theyre not strong or able to have abrasion resistance
Is it correct that A scale only really goes up to 100 and the 101 is kinda just an overstatement saying "look we made it even harder"? So 101A should actually belong in the B scale instead?
@@lxfguits the scales all overlap in some places, but you would find a 101A equivalent on another scale.

The metal wheels were aluminum, a very soft metal I’m making stainless steel wheels next, way harder but diamond is the hardest substance. Can anybody make diamond wheels?

Metal is actually very soft. It bends beneath you. That's why it is used on wooden skate ramps. So the ride up and down is a lot softer.
Way harder is ice. You cannot bend it. It just shatters with too much force.

I think Diamond is the worlds hardest substance , but I could be wrong . Find some place that can cut industrial grade diamonds like for tools like diamond cutters & use them on your board . They would be the most expensive skateboard wheels in the world .

Shore A scale is what normal skateboards wheels are measured from. Shore D is for harder materials and starts at about 65 on the Shore A scale. So, the Shore D 77 is approximately at 110-115 on the Shore A scale.

9:47 I have been waiting for one of these!
Roller skating brand Suregrip and Sk8Fanatics make 32mm and 39mm fiberglass wheels. They’re incredibly slippery on a coated wood floor like a skating rink or I imagine a sk8lite skate ramp. Very difficult to push (or do anything) unless you’re pro. They’re so small you need a modified Suregrip LoRide plate and trucks with 1/2 of a bushing to use them. Would be super cool to see you bring Cali-Slide skaters on a channel to show off how to use these ultra slippery wheels and have the Braille team try.

Skater here, roller skater/blader you had it backwards Aaron the higher the number the harder the hardness, so if you have a 101 durameter wheel expect there to be lots of slide on concrete surfaces, while something like a longboard wheel that’s between 57-67 durameter is gonna be a bit softer. Works the same with inline skate wheels. Mm is the actual size. Of the wheel duro is the wheel softness
