Diana Ankudinova is such a perfect storm! She was born with a body that can make sounds unachievable by virtually anyone else. And she very early on became very determined to master music and vocal technique. And she has a natural talent which has allowed her to learn these things very well and very quickly. And she has a commitment to living the emotions of the songs she sings as she sings them. And she has the actor's insight that allows her to do this effectively. She is a tremendous gift to the world, and there will never be another like her!

Pelageya canta esta música lindamente, mas esta apresentação de Diana me fez sentir muito mais imersa e emocional.
I love both Diana and Pelageya singing this. I think someone who is a master of the art could create a version of this so we could have a duet. I have mentioned this before and people have dismissed it as being too much of a difference between a Contralto and a Mezzo Soprano .. me .. I think Tuomas Hoilopainen of Nightwish could do this as an example.

The song is about a Cossack soldier who dreams about an ill wind from the east rousing his stallion and causing him to lose his hat. His captain unravels the dream to be a bad omen that he will lose his head in battle (as Cossacks often did).
