The pinnacle of supreme intelligence of a people whose shortsightedness led them to utter destruction. I like Hans Zimmer; but, John Williams makes iconic themes. Thirty-five years later and people can instantly recognize William's Superman themes. Just as they can instantly recognize Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Recognizing that does not make us "nostalgia dorks".

It Makes me feel massive in this world, Like the Galaxies and stars are in my bound and at every mans Reach. It makes the universe and Life seem that little bit more Gigantic and beautifully wonderful and mysterious if you know what I mean. John Williams is defiantly one of the best musical composer for films of are generation I think. I believe. And the beginning of this score Makes superman and john William seem Like There GODS!! The next part is Superman’s theme, the glorious, nobile, last son of Krypton who sets a prime example that all of Krypton would be proud of Kal El whilst inspiring billions of Earthlings to emulate the best version of themselves for truth & justice.

Its balances the light playful side of the comic book character, & the larger than life performance of Christopher Reeve (RIP). yeah, usually as he grows up he absorbs more energy from the Sun and gets stronger. That's really why general Zod shouldn't be a problem, Superman has a huge head start on the solar energy. This rendition is far better than when Mr. Wiiliams conducted it with the London Philharmonic in that the rhythmic texture is treated in a far more marcato vein; henceforth giving the listening experience more cohesion to the musically uneducated populous of movie goers. In addition, please notice that "Krypton" is treated with far more metronomic precision and less of a "quasi" feel making the phrase easier to detect; the work is in quadruple/simple with the trumpet solo entering on beat 3 of the phrase, not beat 1. This sets the rest of the brass to also enter on beat 3 of the phrase as well. Great craft in writing on Mr. Williams behalf.

lol- I just meant his suit doesn't have to be armor- Superman's skin is tougher than any armor. Of course he needs a suit. Actually, I think I understand your question. In the older comic books (40s and 50s) Superman's costume was made by Martha Kent from his baby blankets in the spaceship, so they were as indestructible as he was. In the newer (80s to now)comics, he has an "aura" that protects his clothes, and whomever he carries.

Since when the hell did power inherently equal a good or bad character? A great writer will take a character's power and build a story that utilized that power yet STILL made it a challenge. Heck, great writers have done that for decades already. I don't see them holding back Silver Surfer's or Thor's or the Hulk's power, yet they still get good stories where they have to sweat a little.

the superman march is the most iconic theme of all time
I also like the new man of steel theme it won't be as great as the original but its still cool

Bruce quit because he was hunted down more viciously than ever, I assume he was wounded very badly during that fall at the end of TDK too. After the Dent Act there was no more organized crime. When Daggett brought Bane (the first legimitate threat in 8 years) to Gotham Bruce was ready for action The Nolan Batman trilogy was a critical and box office success part of it was because of the casting, more specifically Michael Caine.

I'll admit, the answer is 'no' to those first 3 items.
however i'm in total agreement to your last sentence. I'm going to see the new movie anyway, I just hope not to be disappointed

I hope they have a little bit of these themes in the new film- I know it's a relaunch, but I grew up with this, if I could just hear a little, I'd love it.

oh, I'm sure those suits are better made today.Michael Chiklis said that his suit for the "Thing" was very different for the second movie (Fantastic Four).

Wait, why would you put a Man of Steel Superman picture onto a soundtrack from the original Superman? They have nothing in common. I'm not even convinced the main character of Man of Steel even WAS Superman... >.>

I agree. The Man of Steel theme (An Ideal of Hope) is pretty good in it's own right.

While I do agree that it is epic, he does have a point. They didn't use this theme in the new one because its a totally different movie then the Christopher Reeve (RIP) movies. This one fit the Donner movies because they were lighthearted and fun. The new one is a complete reboot with a more serious and dark undertone (or overtone, however you look at it.) I like both. I think they convey the tone of each movie right. This one is awe-inspiring while the new one is hope inspiring. My 2 cents lol

They're always called "snobs" when they don't like something popular. Truth is, critics like movies just as much as anyone else. They have studied elements that are not noticed by general audiences, so their distaste for something might be more founded on technical details than superficial ones.
And, don't think all critics are snobs that don't like popular movies. Mark Kermode likes the Twilight Saga, Roger Ebert thought The Mummy 3 was the best in the franchise.

Rick, couldn't agree more -not having the John Williams theme leaves a huge part of any Superman film out. Still, 'Man of Steel' was meant to be a reboot for the character, sort of what Nolan's 'Batman Begins' did for the Caped Crusader. So can you blame Zac Synder for leaving the theme out?

Keep in mind that Superman has to put up with villains who are comparable with him in terms of strength on a regular basis (Darkseid and Mongul, for example) and many of them are armed with more powerful weapons than those found on Earth. I'd imagine that Jar-El considered the possibility that his son might come into conflict with other aliens, even on our oblivious little planet. General Zod in particular was one of his main concerns.
