My favourite piece from the whole soundtrack, it really let's you feel the majesty of space. Could totally imagine it as part of Gustav Holst's "The Planets".
This has to be the best "hero theme" piece of music ever written. The basic riff is so simple it almost seems corny, but it's elaborated into something majestic and magnificent.
We could have been born at any time. What a privilege to have lived during the time when John Williams created all these magnificent scores. There’s no one like him! A legend in every sense of the word.
It will never cease to amaze me. In the span of a few years, John Williams gave us the theme from Superman, Indiana Jones, Jaws, Star Wars. He wrote the soundtrack to my childhood, and this one might be my favorite.
Yeah his eyes rolled up in the back of his head in a zone, and he did the Lost In Space music which was my childhood, amazing how I loved the them but didn't know he made that
Same here, also don't forget Jurassic Park, the man is such a legend and one of the most humble people that has ever existed, he once said in an interview "I got home from dinner and came up with the Hedwig theme, which ended up the main Harry Potter theme, that kind of talent is unmeasurable.
I was the manager of a movie theater in Atlanta when this was released. Big screen plus Dolby Sound was amazing! I always had the projectionist crank up the volume for the viewers. Never received a complaint.
I will NEVER forget the hype surrounding this movie when it first came out at the theaters. I was about 20 years old and one of the first to burst into the theater on opening evening. HUGE movie theater (sat 1200) , and when those opening title sequences in lights appeared, the overwhelming sound, and the S finally appearing, chills ran up and down everybody's spine for what was to come. Just incredible.
The majesty of this performance can not be overstated. Bravo to the men and women of this orchestra who flawlessly brought Williams' soundtrack to life yet again.
Krypton is one of my favorite bits of composition ever written. The crescendo triggers frisson for me, I get goosebumps and tear up every time. I was just a 7 year old kid when Superman came to theaters so nostalgia plays a big role in it, but it just stirs something in me. Hell I grew up in the early Jurassic Park times, late ET fan, watched Jaws but after its time, Star wars was my fathers passion, etc but I love all these Iconic pieces, but I still think above all them that "The Planet Kryptom" is the most epic score of any theme of all time, so many emotions when that piece comes on, the most being "epic" even though I know that word has been outplayed.

Planet Krypton in my opinion holds up quite well. I think Composer John Williams can give a lot of competition music-wise to Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, (especially) Wagner, and Haydn. I believe and this is my humble opinion but I believe that Composer John Williams will come up with new music that will surpass the Superman and the Star Wars themes. My high school marching band (in the early '80s) played the Superman theme with the Krypton opening during a football game halftime show. Remembering the sound of the solo trumpet, on the field, playing the Krypton theme on a crisp fall evening with perfect acoustics for outdoors still gives me goosebumps. I've heard this theme so many times, it's not funny -- but IMO, the conductor's directing the official march like he's rushing to a blazing fire.
