To think, I waited 56 years to hear this for the first time. I like the well known Spanky and Our Gang hits. This performance however reeks (lol) of the sixties. Thank you.
Thank You Spanky and Hang for the precious time together. Not forgotten EVER. The sound of our youth
Loved them. And their phenomenal producers, Bob Dorough and Stuart Scharf.
GROOVY-! best word to describe it.
It's should be a CRIME that this group never received the "6-disc box-set" treatment!
I LOVE THEMM!!!!!🎉
Intresting how time passes.I saw them at a be in at fairmont park,Thank you!
I love these guys!!
This aired 2 days after Malcolm died
I forgot that! How sad in so many ways.
Underrated band - always slightly overshadowed by the Mammas & Papas
Probably because of John Phillips song writing. And as good as Spanky was, Cass's pipes were more impressive. Plus Denny Dougherty was an incredible singer as well.
So unfortunately for Spanky, they were a terrific band competing against an all star team of great musicians. Unlike the Beatles vs Beach Boys which was an even on talent.
@@rman52I second that - Their songs were just weaker and there was no need for a second Mamma’s & the Pappa’s.
@@GaelDT I wouldn't go that far. That's like saying there were the Beatles, so no other bands should be around in their time period. Spanky was really good. Their biggest issue was their musical director Hall died so young. They were finished after that.
@@rman52 Agreed. Spanky was the equal of any female vocalist of the era - such a shame she never got the acclaim others did. Also wasnt the band put on some FBI blacklist because of their support for radical causes? Cost them airplay on radio stations etc
Spanky filled in for Cass later down the line funnily enough
There's definitely a Jefferson Airplane feel to Yesterday's Rain.
I hear a mamma's the papa's not to Mention association not to mention the carpenters and the beach boys
...and maybe the SEEKERS...❤🎉
There are a lot of electric guitars for a group that's predominantly vocally harmonic.
I forgot to mention: they're not even patched in.
They should play this song at the 2024 political conventions.
Comparing the beach boys to the Beatles lol, is that the best you got.
I’m a 74 year old hippie and never knew one person that had a Spanky and Out Gang album. This video reminded me of why. This is music for squares.
Dig!
Crazy you said that
I'm a 76 year old hippie and I've got this album. I'll take this over Stairway to Heaven any day of the week.
@@CharlesStClair-tb9iy I'm a 75 year old Slippy and I always loved this band because of the great harmonies. Give A Damn has a great msg.
Crummy video-- good song.
Those groovy outfits are killing me with envy
