    Just a heads up with the spare, the advantage of working it into tire rotations is AWD platforms need even tread depth across all 4 tires. So if you rotate all 5, if you ever needed to put the spare on, you could continue driving it normally

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Год назад +1

      You’re right, that is a good advantage to including it into regular rotations! Thanks for watching. 🙂

    I was in my Subie the other day and went through a construction zone. The road was down to the dirt and had some potholes in it. The car in front of me was another Subaru and they were going about 3-5 mph. I was thinking, Dude, you’re in a Subaru, go faster ! Geez, I’ve taken it the day before at 25mph. Dang it, I’m in a Subaru, it’s designed for this type of terrain.

    That's my exact car. I tow a boat, so I will be a good test of the CVT. It's a little boat. 14ft aluminum with a 10hp outboard. But I fish a lot, so I tow it a lot. I told my dealer guy I was gonna tow a boat, and he was a tad nervous for me.

    I did a search for for my car (identical to yours and a 2022) because I've had so many issues with mine. Major oil leak at 3000 miles, the computer is super glitchy, it will suddenly lose power at times, jerks, and the transmission randomly does weird things. It's my 4th Subaru and I've never had an issue before...but it appears I got a lemon this time. Still only has 4100 miles on it. I'm thinking of selling it.

    things I never expected to use in my wilderness.
    front camera (came in handy when trying to find a place to fish going over huge off road humps, (18° incline)
    That's about it. literally everything else is useless.
    but I do love the vehicle. it's been very good to me. but for the love of God, I wish all the extra crap was not needed. had to get used to the CVT, man I wish I had a six-speed.
    also rotate the spare, It's not compromised. it's a full-size tire and the tire it replaces will now become the spare so you're still have a spare.

    I've owned my 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness for about 2 weeks and in the first week of ownership I was driving 65 mph on the highway, plenty of distance between the cars around. A pebble or rock (didn't see anything) hit my windshield and placed a quarter sized chip and spiderweb crack.
    I was on the fence about buying one because of consumer reports of easily crackable windshields compared to other brands. I don't know what to make of this. This seems pretty problematic and Subaru should have resolved this by now. I had 390 miles on my Forester when this happened.
    I've driven 28 years and several hundred thousand miles between other vehicles and have probably only had a windshield replaced twice in all that time. This is my only gripe about Subaru. Otherwise, the rest of the build quality is solid and it's fun to drive.
    I'm getting the windshield replaced and coated with a diamon fusion protection tomorrow. We'll see if that helps in the long run? It's reapplied every 6 months for the length of my loan. But I have to say, Subaru really needs to figure this issue out. It's TOO common of a complaint and has soured my enjoyment as a new owner.
    Aside from this issue, I would definitely recommend one. But as it stands, buyer beware.
    Thank you for your Subaru videos. I've enjoyed them.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Год назад

      Oh no, I’m sorry that happened to you so quickly, and on a Forester! I don’t think I was aware that they had as susceptible of windshields to damage as the legacy/outback platform. The issue that I had almost seems due to poor alignment causing a random stress crack that appears at the location on my photo. I can say I definitely keep my distance behind trucks and semi’s when on the interstate, lol. I really appreciate you sharing your experiences for others to benefit from and I’m glad you’ve enjoyed my videos! 🙂

      Thank you! Yes, your videos were helpful in influencing me into buying a Subaru. I am happy with everything but the windshield issue. I was given warranty options with 100% drivetrain coverage for as long as I own the vehicle (faulty engine and transmission issues are repaired with no milage cap) and 15 years on electronics replacement. So the infotainment center and such. That is peace of mind. It's just the whole windshield thing that is bothersome and I hope most owners don't have to experience this headache.
      But thank you for sharing your thoughts and stories as well. I mostly have positive things to say about Subaru. They are impressive pieces of machinery and feel pretty solid.

    I'm almost at 2 years ownership of my '22 OBW... also in Ice Silver. After those 20+ months, I still like it, but I don't *love* it. It's a car that is so close to perfect, but let down by the CVT. I've not had a CVT failure on it (though my wife's '20 Crosstrek had a failed CVT at 6K miles), but it is the "wet blanket" on an otherwise great car. If I were to get something else, it'd probably be a Bronco (not the Sport), or one of the new Land Cruisers (though I shudder at the thought of the dealer markups on them). I'll be in a rental car this next week (pretty close to you, funnily enough), which generally makes me miss my OBW.

      You picked the best color. 😉 I’m sorry to hear about the Crosstrek! I’ve driven a couple Bronco’s, they’re definitely cool but the back seat and cargo area is fairly small from what I remember. Do you think the Ford reliability with those complex Ecoboosts would be any more reliable than the Subaru? I’m not sure what’s reliable AND capable these days, lol. The new LC does look potentially very cool, but you’re right, not at any markup. That is very cool! 😎

      That’s true! I use to own a supercharged FJ cruiser, very similar to the 4Runner chassis. But sub 20mpg and worse safety ratings do come with that increased capability and dead reliability the 4R offers.

      Not that I can distinctly recall, were you by chance taking those corners at some speed? 😉 I will say, the OBW seems to handle good or fair for a CUV like vehicle, but it does not handle or change directions well at all compared to a more sporty ride. Just put some weight in the trunk and it will behave much better. Like couple of 36 pack water bottle cases from Costco. My forester's back end slides out a lot, but the weight in the trunk mitigates that. Also you can get the CrossClimate2 tires, which help a lot on wet surfaces.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Год назад +7

      That’s your opinion, and it’s valid. The vast majority of people never end up using their spare tire. I’d rather not compromise its integrity in anyway. If I’m in a position where it’s desperately needed, the risk of very brief unequal wheel rotation is not greater than the immediate need for a suitable spare that can be used as a front steering/braking wheel. That’s my opinion, equally valid. 🙂

      @AutomotiveAnonymous208 I commented before on using the spare tire in the tire rotation. Doing that set off the TPMS light, so I won't use spare again til needed. Got almost 12k on my '22 OBW and no complaints so far. On its 3rd oil change.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Год назад +2

      No, that’s a good question. There’s a sequence to how to rotate Subaru tires due to its AWD system and multidirectional wheels. When someone chooses to have their spare included in the mix there’s a similar but different 5 tire rotation schedule to include it, and each rotation swap a different wheel out as the new spare tire. That way all the tires stay within rotation mileage interval of each other. It’s a person choice whether you do a 4 or 4 tire rotation, as can be read on the original comment thread, lol. 😉
