The entire moment can be summed up as... STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAL YOUR THUNDER !! Steal your thunder, step in time Steal your thunder, step in time Never need a reason, never need a rhyme Steal your thunder, step in time
When this happened my whole family stood up and screamed. My sister and I cried, and my parents were in shock. Every time I watch this, I get chills, and I get so overwhelmingly happy that I tear up.
I love how he Willy Wonka-d the audience. At first he seemed like he needed assistance walking and then to dance with that much energy...Dick will forever be my celebrity crush
Show 'em how it's done, Dick! I got tears in my eyes by the crowd's reaction, standing up and cheering at the sight of him. It's the exact reaction he deserved. What a GIFT he is. Thank you for posting this.
Saw this live there, lucky audience we were they had to re-shoot this whole sequence for whatever reason so we saw it all happen 2x, but omg when he first popped out I absolutely lost it. Talk about a dancer and performer I've looked up to my whole life. Met him the year before this as an extra on set of one of his films, such a nice man. Wish I said more and wasn't so shy 😂
Dan McKechnie it was a free ticketed event through a company that finds audiences for tapings, age wasn't a requirement to my knowledge though, probably just that was the age group using the company's services.
This made me smile so much. I love his energy, he’s still as incredible as he was in his prime. Even happier the audience got all revved up by his appearance.
Can any one of us imagine being that beloved by that many people just by showing up? It's not like my friends are not happy to see me, but if my arrival got anything close to that kind of reaction from anyone (no, I don't have kids -- those of you who do, know something of what it is like), I think I would just be emotionally overwhelmed with gratitude and start sobbing. Wonderful clip.
I just watched this wonderful dance scene for the first time last night. I don't know why it was not screened a year ago in Australia but nevertheless I was totally thrilled and awed to see Dick Van Dyke still looking amazing and fit at his age. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole dance routine. Well done to everyone.
I want him to do Dancing with the Stars so bad! I know he says he's too old he's not to be able to keep up, honestly that wouldn't matter to me if he even was the first one to get eliminated.
I would love to see him on Dancing With the Stars as well, but I'm not sure it's feasible. While he can almost certainly dance any contestant right off the stage, he probably doesn't have the endurance for the long and often grueling practices anymore.
Dick Van Dyke might be 94 years old but he can she still got the groove for Mary Poppins and other ones is well. I’m so surprised that he is still acting. Have any of you met him before.
Well he is now 95 and having a grand time when he finally was awarded a Kennedy center honor. It aired last night, And Derek Hough performed this (and another) number. I haven't realized he had done it previously with Dick!
I love how the audience just went berserk - and got even louder when he started dancing!!!
Dawn Welch I didn't!
Because it was rehearsed that way.
He’s a living legend. He truly deserved it.
1rewd1 maybe but honestly that’s an audience of huge Disney fans and an unexpected legend walked in, their reaction is accurate
The entire moment can be summed up as...
STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAL YOUR THUNDER !!
Steal your thunder, step in time
Steal your thunder, step in time
Never need a reason, never need a rhyme
Steal your thunder, step in time
the entire audience turned into kids again and I loved it
I don't believe that hardly anyone in the audience was alive in 1964 when Mary Poppins first came out
Even at 90 years old, he's still got it!
When this happened my whole family stood up and screamed. My sister and I cried, and my parents were in shock. Every time I watch this, I get chills, and I get so overwhelmingly happy that I tear up.
Megan Lane Same here!
He is still that amazing at 96.
Case in point: ruclips.net/video/uMjI2cRRzH0/видео.html
My smile was large, the happiness when I saw this actor. That is all my childhood.
Dick started dancin' before he entered the stage, could see his silhouette moving from behind the door can't say I blame him
awww that’s so cute
@@user-fo6kp6nt5b Don't blame him, that song is catchy n can get ya dancing
How come a 90 year old man can still dance better than me
Bottom line experience
Because he's Dick Van Dyke
I know right
He is a living legend!
Because he’s had 80+ years of practice.
The actor of the ages!
The one to outlive fate!
A dancer till the end!!!
Amen!
Amen Rev!
The loveliest thing about this performance is, all the dancers on the stage probably grew up with the original Mary Poppins movie!!
skynie09 It must have been a huge honor to be able to dance with him.
skynie09 So did the cast and crew of Mary Poppins Returns
I don't believe that any one of them were yet born when the original "Mary Poppins" was first released.
@@OldsVistaCruiser well of course they weren’t born yet, but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t watch it growing up
He's still got that chimney sweep groove in him.
Saw this live there, lucky audience we were they had to re-shoot this whole sequence for whatever reason so we saw it all happen 2x, but omg when he first popped out I absolutely lost it. Talk about a dancer and performer I've looked up to my whole life.

I have to stop watching this in public. I cry EVERY TIME
So do I.
This made me smile so much. I love his energy, he’s still as incredible as he was in his prime. Even happier the audience got all revved up by his appearance.
one of my favorite movies and actors, 90 years young in this video, he's now 95 and still going strong. step in time Mr Van Dyke.
This shows that even though we get older on the outside, inside we may feel as young as ever.
Alex tepe Youth is something we can all learn from Mary Poppins
90 years old and he is still as AMAZING as he was in ‘62!
The audience just LEAPS up when he emerges. 😆❤️
i seriously cried when he came walking out! so much joy coming from his face!
Can any one of us imagine being that beloved by that many people just by showing up? Am I the only one that just started crying when he came out??
Kaylen Elkins No. I think that we all cried at this point. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Absolutely not. I adore this man to pieces and I think I gave a bit of a squeal then cried lol.
Not by a long shot, we all did I think ! And a well deserved cry & showing of emotions at that !!!
Definitely not! 😭❤
God bless that wonderful old man, what a DOLL, to step out and have the audience SCREAM, I cried with sheer joy.
I love that even when he’s in he’s his nineties he’s still remembers the move and can still do them perfectly 😂
90 years old is the new 50s!! (A least to him) ;)
Beautiful!!! I got emotional at seeing how the audience went crazy when he appeared! ❤️❤️❤️ Such a heartwarming clip. Thanks for sharing!
i can't stop watching this
its so amazing
How can you NOT like Dick Van Dyke?
Try not to cry.. CRY A LOT!!!
I know! I was doing my best to hold back tears of joy when I first saw it on TV!!!!
leticia x imagine him and Julie Andrews both came out.. ohh I'll be drowning in tears of joy lol
Oh my goodness! When the dude just came out, I started crying and laughing at the same time. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
They don't make 'em like that any more!
Susan A. Or do they?
one of the best disney movies that I have ever seen in live action and will have a special place in my heart.
Stefan Gingrich Mary Poppins was the first live action movie musical I ever enjoyed.
That was Awesome!! I’m 52 and he just took me back to a simpler time👍🏽
Yeah, sweet childhood memories. Dick Van Dyke will always be cherished, a fantastic actor.
OMG! How old is Dick Van Dyke but yet he STILL can STEP IN TIME!
Worth watching. Again. And again.
I completely lost my marbles when Dick Van Dyke made an entrance and started busting those moves. How can you NOT like Dick Van Dyke?
I know whats coming a year later, and I still get so excited to see him. Amazing
Marty Pottebaum And seeing Dick in Mary Poppins Returns should be exciting
No words.
This is simply wonderful.
90 years old never complains or moans still keeps going. O and not a bad word u can say about this guy. To me hes a perfect inspiration.
I am admittedly jealous for not being there for this moment!! Thanks for posting this!!
When my older friends say their too old for shit I show them this haha. Just simply amazing!
As someone had a do a bunch of choreography for the Guys and Dolls I was in, this is still way over my head how they could be this perfect and on time
Basement Dweller Cosplay 6 months ago I saw a production of Guys and Dolls
I met this AWESOME guy last year an he is just an incredible man
I just watched this wonderful dance scene for the first time last night. I don't know why it was not screened a year ago in Australia but nevertheless I was totally thrilled and awed to see Dick Van Dyke still looking amazing and fit at his age. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole dance routine. Well done to everyone.
This is seriously the coolest thing!
Thank you, Walt Disney
Man, he got quite an ovation.
He's still got it. A legend.
Humanoidfreak You should see him dance in his cameo in MP Returns
Oh dear God! Dick you beautiful man! You've still got it! Aaaccckkk! Now I'm crying! 😭
Still got it 52 years later.
Now at 96 he can still move, but this is amazing at 90.
I want him to do Dancing with the Stars so bad! I know he says he's too old he's not to be able to keep up, honestly that wouldn't matter to me if he even was the first one to get eliminated.
He looks like he can keep up just fine! :) He's a better dancer than most on that show.
+Regina Brown He can keep up and unlike most people on that show these days he is actually a star. Lol
I would love to see him on Dancing With the Stars as well, but I'm not sure it's feasible. While he can almost certainly dance any contestant right off the stage, he probably doesn't have the endurance for the long and often grueling practices anymore.
Eliminated? Who who vote against him? The other contestants wouldn't have a chance
@@LB-gz3ke THAT IS TRUE!! lol I just feel like the judges would have a say and he'd be kicked off...fans however lol he'd have all the votes lol
He still got it! Love that man.
What an awesome moment.
Bert's still got it!
He Still Looks Good. I Bet He Loved This So Much
That smile gets me everytime
I literally jumped out of my seat when I saw Dick! GOD, I LOVE THAT MAN!!
Why does this make me cry everytime?
the day this man dies will be a tragedy across the world
Preach man, preach!
One more comment. The original Bert the chimney sweep. Legendary performance from a man who was robbed of an Oscar in a travesty.
Also kudos to Derek Hough for choreo that paid homage to this wonderful treasure and icon!
Wonderful talent he has.
I love this song!!
He's still got it!!!!
I am 15 years old and he’s my all time favorite actor.
So wonderful!
He's still got it!😍
At first i was like “jesus christ he’s so old they have to hold him up as he walks” and then I was like “wow”.
"Link Your Elbows"....from the song...how it was in the original movie.
I could feel the low end from this in my earphones!
I watched the full show on RUclips the other week and this is my favourite part 😃😃😃
Dude is in his 90’s and still dances like a pro.
Dick Van Dyke might be 94 years old but he can she still got the groove for Mary Poppins and other ones is well. I’m so surprised that he is still acting. Have any of you met him before.
just wow....Mr Van Dyke, you never fail to make us all happy...and you never will, u always make me feel like im 8 yrs old again...thank you
Thank you SO much for posting!!!! Adore this!!❤❤
At first I was like 'dude you lied to me how dare you' and when he came out of the window I SCREEAAAMMEDDD
This is amazing!!
That man is a true force of nature.
Thank you so much for sticking to the original movie ideas.... unlike the broadway version.
Ryan Snider I still haven’t seen the Broadway version
I love how excited the audience got for Dick. He's so talented, and my favorite movies that he's done are Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Olivia Mantero Those are my favorites too. I've also seen Dick in Night at the Museum 1+3 and Bye Bye Birdie
Dick Van Dyke and Dame Angela Lansbury are 2 still living legends at 92 and 94, both sharp and lively as ever. This was a great surprise!
Voyagersguidebook That should be exciting to see in Mary Poppins Returns
Yes! Can't wait. :D
Voyagersguidebook And I’m surprised they’ve lived that long but still maintain a true sense of appearance
I'm impressed he can still dance like that at his age, kudos! Not that the younger guys did bad, they were great too!
Amazing! No wonder he lived to be 90!
God bless her! Some people have good genetics that allow them to keep going well past 90, and some, even past 100.
No, I mean your grandmother, unless you grandmother was a GUY!
mightymeatmonsta My grandma grew up to be 90 before she died from leukemia five years ago.
Why have I never seen this before? Amazing.
He still has it OMGod!♡
Omg if Dick can do that he will live to over a hundred
Original MZ Maybe maybe not
Well he is now 95 and having a grand time when he finally was awarded a Kennedy center honor. It aired last night, And Derek Hough performed this (and another) number. I haven't realized he had done it previously with Dick!
Man and I thought so much energy. These people beat me 20x’s
This has always been my favorite song in Mary Poppins
Mee too
Ravenseal Same.
That man commands that batshit audience reaction. Well executed cameo
What a legend!!
The man is timeless.
Aw I love him
That is so cool!
Derek is an incredible dancer and was really good with this performance, but the part where Dick Van Dyke comes out is probably next level!
Am I the only one that now wants Derek Hough to play Burt in Mary Poppins on Broadway? Because he'd be amazing!
Vanessa Jimenez Well that would be cool if ABC does Mary Poppins Live
Teach those young blokes how it's done "Bert"! ;-D
Incomparable.
He's still got it
Derek totally mastered the dancing! And Dick has still got it to my utter surprise.
That was really cool
what a rush! good for him.
Kennedy Center Honors... well deserved
He still got it
Reginald Frempong Amen
