Talgo is a technical marvel. I still don't understand how can it mantain stability with pairs of single wheels between the coaches (no bogies!) at the speeds up to 300 km/h (and probably beyond). And considering that the invention of this concept goes back to the early 1960s I'm even more amazed. Not to mention that some of the version include a quick gauge change mechanism, a twin propulsion version and there's (been) also a tilting version (Talgo pendular) which makes Talgo the most versatile train ever build. Imagine all this features in one set: it could travel all the way from Lisboa to Vladivostok.

@@NonstopEurotrip The overall Spanish high speed rail system is not well known about sadly, especially considering how efficient and punctual the trains are (and the great interiors) but this goes down to Spain’s geography and population count. It only carries a fraction of the amount of passengers seen in let’s say, Germany with a less developed high speed system. Also the network is too radial, it’s mostly concentrated on Madrid whenever you must go somewhere. The liberalization may help this a bit. New HSR lines in Spain are being built left right and center. In my opinion I’d focus on upgrading connections to other hubs as this mass spending on new infrastructure and prominently neglecting your classic lines isn’t a good idea and then everything is so clean like the tracks mainly due to adifs dedications as they do reballasting fairly often.

The service is great, food is delicious and the entertainment program it's very interesting. Did you know they are planning to introduce a new kind of AVE train to the existing rolling stock? Hi!
I am spanish, specifically from Murcia, but in the 90s I did my military service in Córdoba, specifically in the first half of the 90s. I traveled for the first time on the high-speed train in 1994, the year the new Córdoba station was inaugurated, so I somehow I premiered it. How nostalgic, as can see in the video, I have always remembered that you had to go down to a lower level on an escalator to access the trains. I also remember something from the old station, but not much
I traveled from Córdoba to Madrid. It was the first high-speed line that had been built in Spain, the Madrid-Seville line (which passed through Córdoba), premiered in 1992, and it was 2 hours in which we did not notice anything, that trip was very gratifying
The tractor unit was the old 101 series, but were very fast and efficient. We travel in tourist class, and there was a reduction in the prices of tickets with the military discount
I want to say that in Spain we have very fast trains, which are not the AVE, and that we know how to make trains, and above all and something very important, maintain our rail lines. In the 80s I traveled in a Talgo III, which is from the 60s, and even so it was a very fast train (I think we would travel at least 160 km / h) and I didn't notice the curves, it was incredible
I want to clarify that Talgo has participated in the construction of class 112
By the way, where are you from?
    Good video

    • @ESMengu
      @ESMengu 4 года назад +9

They're actually not bogies, but something unique Talgo calls a "rodal". The wheels on each rodal don't share an axle, instead it's two semi-axles, and the whole structure goes up and supports the cars from the roof, which are left hanging down between the rodales so to speak. When trains take a curve, bogies exert an outward force on the cars, while rodales push towards the interior of the curve, making pendulation happen naturally.

Nice to reden through Europe with your channel. It makes fun, it shows the landscape and you can enjoy your virtual voyage. Btw. in Germany you have to pay a lot of money to travel similar to the Renfe service. Due to the pandemic restrictions I take my car. It's much cheaper, I have my seat, I can listen to music I like, all in all it's cheaper and more practical and I don't waste so much time with changings. Greetings from Germany

When you plan your trip and book in advance fares are ridiculously low in Germany. Frequent travelers can get a “Bahncard” to cut prices 25% or 50%. All a matter of planning. Last minute tickets are costly though.

Very good video! Just one detail; you didn't translate well Preferente; in Spanish travel lingo Preferente means Business Class, not First.
There are some AVEs (Siemens 103 series?) that have or had 3 classes: 1ª (Primera - First), Preferente (Business) and Turista. This also applies to airlines.

Talgo AVE S 112 Not a Bombardier model, It is a design entirely by P. Talgo. The electric motors are from the German ABB in 102 and 112.
Patentes Talgo, S.A. the serie 112 is the last collaboration with the Canadian multinational Bombardier Transportation.
After ordering the mechanical part of the 102 and 112 series heads.
For the new Avril 106 series, the Spanish Basque company IngeTeam took care of all this.
And less so now that Bombardier has spun off its railway division and sold it to the French multinational company Alstom Transport.
    www.talgo.com/
It is very simple to find out first-hand and just by searching the official website of the company.

Hi! As a Spaniard, I got this video recommended to me and wanted to say: though the AVE's prices can seem high, you have to remember two important things: first, it competes (or it did before... y'know, virus, stuff, happened) with airports, because they make very similar connections, so the price is mostly around the same. Second, and probably most important, Renfe is going to launch the AVLO, which is literally short for Ave Low cost, whose tickets will range from 60€ to, get ready, 10€, and the minister of transportation said that everyone should be able to buy at least once a ticket for 10€, meaning that that price won't be uncommon and the 60€ will only be in low demand last hour bookings, so maybe you'll want to check it out as if I remember correctly it will use the same Talgo trains at the same speeds, and in fact Renfe has ordered an entire new fleet of them for that service so they will be mostly brand new.
    Edit: grammar

A journey of 320 km’s in a high speed 250 - 300 kmh train should be much quicker then almost 2 hours. Even Dutch local trains (almost) cover that at 140 kmh; there must be long stops or long parts of low speed sections along the route ...

I took a similar train from Madrid to Sevilla .. ticket cost me 149 euro's as my flight to sevilla was cancelled the previous day from Schipol thanks to transavia so had to fly to Madrid the following morning and KLM Employee had the gaul to force me to buy another bag to put my rucksack in , when flying from Glasgow not an issue but the chap at Madrid a dobber . And at Schipol .. KLM/Transavia // KLM Employeee said we would get our money back . to this day I never got a fucking penny from the Airline . even though i kept all the recipts as proof . The taxi's in Madrid from the Airport to the train station 30 euro .. i was charged .. what a rip off arrived just in time to buy my ticket and catch the 11.30 am train to Sevilla . took around 2 hrs 30mins all tickets have specific seat numbers , Trains are spotless compared to trains that travel on the Ayr/Addrossan/Largs lines .. View from the train was quality .. .
