Thank you Mr De Miranda, I am learning a lot with all your lessons. I am 62 years young I've been playing the saxo and the guitar and now I'm in a batucada group in the south of France playing the caixa. lot of fun with music! Thank you again.
Continued: I then took up Irish fiddle and then learned pipe band snare drum and developed a love of African music with Sunny Ade, Youssou N'Dour, Fela Kuti. I now teach fiddle full time here in Australia and admire good teachers like yourself. Best wishes Mr Miranda!
Thank you so much for your great lessons, you are the best samba/batucada teacher on the web, you are patience, discriptive and really teach well, since I found your lessons, you are the only one I'm learning from, thanks so much again. Oh and by the way, when you show the notes/notations, it's the easiest. Tal.
Wonderful instruction Mr Miranda, the friendly Dutchman. I want to learn your method, relaxed and groove that has solid foundation in tradition and experience. My land is Australia and my instrument violin and snare drum! I love the udu or pot drum as well.
Thank you for your compliments! What a nice combination, violin and snare drum! How did you come to this combination? BTW 30 years ago I played the violin as well for about 4 years!
There are two things I would add here: 1) If you’re counting out loud, then it’s easier to practice first in the natural groups of 3+5 or 3+3+2 instead of 4+4. I would explain it that way, too 2) the last two patterns are identical except for the one stroke that is done by the right hand instead of the left on the 2nd eighth in the pattern. This could be better illustrated on ttwo different drums (toms, e.g.)
As a child I found a ten pound note and went to a Toy shop and bought a snare drum. My father was horrified and the drum was returned to the shop. I lived near a Highland Pipe band rehearsal hall and loved the sound of snare drum and pipes. My father was horrified and tried many times to shut down the Pipe band.

Mas em relação á "caixa da Mangueira"...
A acentuação está correta, mas "não" tem notas rimshot(pele + aro)!!!
Muito obrigado pra esse information!
