Hi all just an FYI went thru a high idle issue on my 1999 ford f150---smoked it for vac leaks(yes, i made my own smoker lol) cleaned throttle body and Idle control valve--cleared computer and tried to let it find it's new base idle---no help--grrrr finally i remembered to clean (I mean really clean!!) the pcv valve--Freaking truck calmed down and is purring like a kitty!! PCV valve was sticking!! Hope this helps all!!
Did you ever get it fixed? My car is an SVT ford focus and does the exact same thing. I think it's weird since it idles back to normal ONLY AFTER I stop. Did you get your problem fixed?
I have a 2003 Pontiac Montana, and it has that "High Idle problem! I replace the Air Idle motor"! It'll last for some over a week and half, but It'll come down to the same High Idle! Any suggestions?
in my 99 saturn sl1, when im driving and i disengage my clutch the rpm's go up to about 1700 rpm and stays that way until im at a complete stop, do you think this is from the tps?
I have that problem driving on highway , take foot off gas , and it seems the idle gets stuck ,and increases , not all the time ,but often, I tested it w multimeter with it hooked up to tb. It's a digital one and I manually moved the throttle up and down and watched the numbers, they increased and decreased nice and evenly, so should I look at iacv? Would problems w that be indicative of that high stuck idle like you mentioned?? Thanks
sry for late response. i have not fixed the issue. i just gave up on trying to fix it.sry for not having an answer for you, i wish i did its super annoying
I have a 3.8 1982 buick regal. Has high idel at start then comes down but wehen I put it in drive or reverse it wants to stall. also if driving and i give it some gas it wants to stall at first then gos. Is this a bad TPS? I have new oil, plugs, wires, fuel filter, egr valve.
I had the high idle problem on my 99 ford ranger, and sure enough it was the tps sensor.
Good video well explained 👏
Glad you got it fixed.
Nice old analog Micronita meter. I bought mine at Radio shack in the 70s and it still works great today..made in Japan of course.

Thanks, I've replaced Iac, maf and tps, no change. I'll check pvc.
@VMATT500C Yes it would, i was using the most sensitive setting on the meter i had.
@RvLanee The red one i have is a Craftsman 82082
With a carburetor it could be the idle screw or the fast idle which is connecter to the choke or possible a vacuum leak.
Hi Rich, can this TPS be cleaned out so that the bad connections make contact? perhaps using electrical connector cleaner?
Replaced the TPS and everything was back to normal.

@1991darkmage It could be the tps but i would try cleaning the throttle body and idle air control valve first.
The TPS can not be cleaned that i know of.
My issue was the mass flow air sensor
I need help....can you assist me please

Had a problem with my Toyota Toyoace 2007. It was just a sticky excellerator pedal.

I think i would first do a check for a vacuum leak then go to the idle air control.

How many volts are you getting at the TPS.
New TPS is now at 3.5 old one was at 2.7
vibe , high idling replaced tps still idling high?
clean the throttle body. high idle also can be a sign a a bad intake manifold or gasket
CTS will cause higher or high idle too. $15 on eBay.
Man you are sweet
