Damn as a hardcore Namor fan I am embarrassed I never knew about this. His 90s run by Bryne is pretty good for Namor. I also enjoy the character in the Invaders series in the last decade. Its been nice that the character has been featured as a guest spot in quite a few stories these last few years, but yeah I wish the character was used more, the character to most is seen as a dick, but he always interested me because he walks a fine line as a king. Like Dr. Doom, Namor has been one of those anti-hero characters I enjoyed. Zdarsky's "Always an Invader" is a great current Namor story, its an Invaders story, but its really a Namor story. Id also recommend as I mentioned before Byrnes 90s run of the character, it has an interesting premise and I enjoyed it.
You're totally right about this easily becoming a longer series. I mean, there's gotta be some baddies for him to fight in the 1800's, right? Plus the emotional core of this story is very compelling. Definitely a Mignola hidden gem.
Having just read Namor issue #16 in which the Sea of Sargasso, where the People of the Mist reside, they are essentially men who have refused to die, and their ships, its not really time travel. Its interesting that Mignola took this thing from the Silver Age and used it in this. Issue #16 actually is a really interesting story that involves this setting.
