I would think if LEGO doesn't do a School as a building, they could have a learning center for the dozen children minifigures that are part of Modular Buildings.
This modular school shows the massive advantages of Moc building, as well as the smaller downsides. A simply clear upside is scale, but also having realistic architecture. Those designs can get you some very good baseline stuff accessible on Moc sites such as rebrickable that you can improve and build upon yourself. The downsides are clear too, it takes tens of thousands of pieces, making it very expensive overall. Also Moc designers, often building this in the digital Lego design program, do not build for sturdyness often enough. That said, there are always things that you can improve on. Those trees indeed look pretty rough. I have designed better trees myself and I'm not a very advanced builder, there are also tons much better designs to be found on youtube, rebrickable and other sources. Thanks for showing us this project. It is absolutely a banger of a Moc, with so much detail in the classrooms and an overall very satisfying architectural profile that fits with modulars quite well.
The chronometer from insider rewards also has a clock piece you could use for the clock piece. If it isn’t available from insiders, you should be able to pick it up on secondary market at a decent price.
This looks great! Maybe you could display it along the back wall so you can see it head on? If it’s towards the front it might block the view of what’s behind it. Regardless though having a school for the city is a great idea, I need to get on that!
@@ChrisBricks02 yes, along the back wall is a good shout! I’ll definitely try it there. You should definitely look into it, it would look great in your city! 😁
Wow! This school looks almost like Reading High School in Reading, PA. Look it up! lol. It would be easy to modify out the four columns to look more like the “castle on the hill”! Thanks for this video. Subscribed!
Great building. For me I would downsize the music room and squeeze in a head teachers office or maybe a janitor’s closet. Or completely remove the music room and have the office and some toilets. Another option would be to add another section at the back. Make the building T shaped.
I've followed your construction of this school videos and it is absolutely stunning! Good job getting all the bricks. Where to put it? Well, I think it deserves a courtyard, where will the children play during breaks? A bit of grass, a football pitch?
Nice could probably color swap the building too. We need a post office too could probably do it as a half building and combine it with another shop or town house.
Absolutely beautiful, but it takes a lot of real-estate and in most Lego room set ups, that’s 2-3 other types of buildings, so not too practical in a lot of situations.😊
In the case of a school, I personally wouldn't mind building a bit higher up with more floors, so the footprint of the building can be a bit smaller and you have some leftover space for a schoolyard, with bikestands and maybe some greenery right next to it. This building has a massive footprint, which isn't great if display space is at a premium.
After the years of modular buildings, I still can't stand them having detailed interiors. They have been consistently shrinking in overall size to accommodate the interior.
I was hoping to see a headmaster's office and maybe a nurse's office. That's what I thought was going to be on the top level. Now you're also going to need a school bus, playground, and maybe track & field out back or nearby!
@@stubusby7818 I suppose I could add an extra floor to the 2 side buildings, I really like the sound of a headmasters office! 😁 Great suggestions, thanks a lot!
This is so cool. I love all the little details within. I used a rebrickable model to turn a friends set into the art school. I have all my students in the same uniform. Between us we probably have bought out all the torsos in the uk on bricklink
Incredible details! No wonder it has so many pieces (and that's without any of your additions). Perhaps the only thing I'd change is in the music room - I'd go for an upright piano as it takes up less space, then add in a keyboard (synthesisers we called them in school 🤣) and then definitely look for some guitars etc
@@preston_builds Those are quite expensive instructions compared to what I've seen so far on Rebrickable. It is definitely worth it though, the detail is amazing.
I’ve got the pieces for loads of retired sets - Brick Bank, Town Hall, Ghostbusters HQ, Ninjago City. It’s not as hard as it seems. You can use bricklink and even LEGO.com is getting a lot easier to use to buy parts.
@@preston_builds really appreciate the reply. I need to start doing this. I want the imperial shuttle, and Ghostbusters, simpsons and some other modulars. Maybe i'll give it a shot!
I've never seen an actual medical room in any school I've been to, but I hear this is pretty common in other countries. We just have a few teachers and maybe a janitor with first aid training and a medkit with some basic stuff. Kids don't break easily and accidents are rare.
As I bought the instructions for the whole school, I feel it’s not my place to share them - however I have a vending machine tutorial you might want to check out: ruclips.net/video/xVWMYec6gvY/видео.htmlsi=cIvw9QQjkDC5DFMj
@@preston_builds A 14k piece MOC isn't exactly cheap either. You're probably looking at $1,000+. You can get 3 X-Mansions for that amount and still have money left. It's not going to be anywhere near as awesome as this MOC though.
@preston_builds Seriously though, u did a great job on this. I struggle with building in the scale that Lego builds their modulars and so most of my builds will not fit in the normal city layout but u can't hold back creativity and so I too build big like u did here. I would love to have every building like this but then I run into the problem of not having enough space for every kind of building u need in order to have a city. Ur build makes me not care about those rules and just build. I can always assemble the city elsewhere in the house, I mean, do we really need a living room or dining room?😂🤣🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@hoarder66 What Lego needs to do as a company is give you extra rooms in your own home with every 10 sets, so we don't run out of display space. For most people I know, it is display space that is the limiting factor on their collection.
