I really appreciate how genuine an your reviews feel; you present in a relaxed and affable way. I think it’s fantastic you chose to give JD a serious and favourable review. JD will always hold a special place in my heart and I always have a bottle on my shelf, and still enjoy it to this day. Might have to have some tonight ☺️
The 1st whiskey ever entered my palate in1969 was Jack #7 Black label. Still my favorite today. Jack could call it Bourbon but they chose to stay with Tennessee whiskey. It meets all the Bourbon standards. But Jack knows you think of Bourbon you think of Kentucky. If you want a great whiskey drink Jack, if you want a great Bourbon whiskey drink Jack...
I like it. My wife and drove down to Birmingham, Alabama to play some golf and on the way south on the highway, there are a set of signs encouraging one to get off the road and come to the distillery for JD. So we did, and we did a tour that was free and lots of fun. No sampling as JD is made in Lynchburg which is a dry county (ironically). But I have fond memories of that visit and that golf trip and so I like it for that extra reason, in addition to the fact that I don't have a super sophisticated palate and it is a reasonable neat sipper for me. Glad you liked it too!
I agree completely, Jack Daniels was the first whiskey that I ever drank, about 50 some odd years ago, and I liked it! However, since then, have graduated over time to Scotch Whiskeys, and can't go back! Well, not completely, I do like a sip of Jack and the bourbons now and then ;-) Hennessy White is pretty good as well! Oh, I might mention, it was Frank Sinatra's favorite "Nectar of the Gods" as he called it, and was even buried with a bottle!
Such a cute cat!! 😁 I think it is a good overview of Jack Old No. 7. I do seem to find similar flavors in it. It is not a bad whisky for sure. The only thing I don't like about it is I tend to find it a bit too alcoholic / ethanoly even at 40%. For me the rubber/ethanol is in the nose and in the taste as well, sadly. That ruins the experience a bit for me especially considering that here where I live for the same price I can buy Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey 81 which imho are both much better whiskies. Those don't have this strong alcohol note in my opinion. I'd compare this to the Jim Beam White actually.
Bravo. Intelligent review, and I agree. Good stuff, I too am proud to drink and display JD, legions of naysayers notwithstanding. Keep up the great work
I remember giving JD to my friends when I was in 8th. grade and they all fell like dominoes and puked their guts out. I really appreciate that you try different bottles from across the Spirits spectrum from entry-level to higher end and you are perfectly honest about them. Give Rex a dram ! He looks thirsty !
Dug through the cabinet before watching this and found enough for a solid stiff drink on the rocks. Nothing wrong here. Tends to be on the watery side. I would say it tastes like a light bourbon. Great introduction into the bourbon profile. And yeah technically it’s not a bourbon but whatever. I keep it around for when I’m hosting and make a signature 3 Wisemen.
To each his own... I don't like blonds.. If you want to drink #7 it is cool with me... To me it is just a cheap bar pour with coke.... I would take 101 any day over it.
I tried this whiskey recently precisely because of it's polarized reviews. I only got a half pint for in case I hated it. While I don't hate it, I don't particularly like it. The nose was better than the palette for me. Smelling mainly of vanilla and that big oaky smell that he noted, also a bit of spicy black pepper or something. The taste had this burnt rubber finish that I just don't like and that taste becomes stronger as you sip it
I could never warm up to Jack. My buddy and I would listen to Rolling Stones record albums in his basement. We went for Jim Beam instead, which we liked. So no Keith Richards-like guzzling of the Jack. Classic label though. I was just a young man then, maybe I'd like Jack Daniel's better now.
1:19 he wants whiskey.😅 I get all the classic bourbon flavors brown sugar vanilla honey butter scotc caramel. just basic. nose for me is brown sugar vanilla citrus that's all.
Thanks for keeping it real. Most of the people who hate on Jack are just whiskey snobs.
I don't give those types the satisfaction of calling them snobs - its pretentious pure and simple
Some people, like me, get a "lighter fluid" taste from it, and others don't. That's why all the dislikers say the same thing about the taste.
Jack Daniels. Down and dirty. One point of clarification, Jason. Michael Anthony is the bass player for Van Halen.

Just ordered my first bottle as I always enjoy a spirit of some kind over the Xmas holidays. Thanks for the informed review.
It will not disappoint! Happy holidays!

When was it made that has a metal case? 10/06/1906 Est. 1799 tin Hudson-Scott and Sons Ltd
I personally cannot drink Jack Daniels but to each their own.
Thanks for commenting!

Any Man who drinks Jack Daniel's Old No. #7 doesn't have to prove himself to me in any other way.
Absolutely nothing wrong with J.D. Their honey version is an excellent liqueur over ice, and their barrel proof stuff is really outstanding.
Do you not get a 25% sweet 75% nail varnish taste?

Well, I guess it's not for everyone. Thanks for weighing in though.
I tend to be favorable towards Jack Daniel's.
😻
Not a fan, but the sweetness works well with Coke.
Great with coke. When it's neat I find it to be 25% sweet, but 75% nail varnish remover. I guess some people don't taste that?
Yes, I forgot to mention it is popular when mixed also.
@@JasonDebly Yeah very nice mixed. Do you notice any "lighter fluid" taste to it when neat?
@@thememaster7 can’t say that I do.

Give it a try now. You might be surprised.
The stories this whiskey would tell…….
Lol!

You should try Jack Daniels Sinatra. Much better than this one.
Nectar of the Gods.
Alex van Halen is the drummer, not the bassplayer. nice review otherwise
That’s correct! My mistake
Oat and a boat whiskey review…. Almost as bad as black velvet
