- Think of a popular mid-sized SUV and it won’t take you too long to mutter the ‘Q’ word - Qashqai. However, the car in this video IS a popular SUV, which ISN'T a Nissan Qashqai. It is in fact the latest version of the Kia Sportage, the South Korean brand’s best selling model in Europe. Is it an SUV you should put on your shortlist? Let’s find out.
The model reviewed here is the '2' trim level, which is one up from the base model, with a starting price of £22,405. It's fitted with the naturally aspirated 1.6 litre petrol engine, which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Great Video Review..
Review is bang on here, I have a Sportage 1.6gdi in infra red identical to the one in video and it's a great car,nice to drive and plenty room for everything,I get great fuel economy 40mpg in town and going ten miles to work on A roads and ten miles back get between 45mpg and 52 mpg which is great for a petrol, not the most powerful engine though it's quick enough for what it is and I never have problems overtaking just need use gears more but great car ,so happy with mine ,the new 2022 Sportage looks even better so can't wait see them out on roads soon 👌🏴

Best car, very practical, cheaper than other car, this will beat corolla as best buy! Good job sportage! More model like this, small and not too tall suv for on road driving..

Hi - nice review -thanks. I'm weighing up getting the new 1.6 petrol turbo or a previous shape Santa Fe - 2018 model - which one do you reckon is best? Santa Fe is more luxurious but seems a much bigger wallowy car, this kia seems more sprightly, easier to park, though perhaps less luxurious.
Hi Simon, thanks for watching. I have driven a Santa Fe, but it was a very short drive, so it's difficult to give you an informed answer.
I've the edition 25 . Much better inside no handbrake and trim around the screen as well as led lights.
Put the manual in the boot, who actually reads that anyway 😉

@@alrado4803 Iskreno, malo je konja i auto je podosta trom. Kretanje s mjesta OK, ali ubrzanje loše. Odlična je zvučna izloacija.
E sad, meni je u odvozenih cca 2tis km otišao kuplung (izlilo se ulje, kao prethodan servis tj. zamjena nekog dijela nije bila dobro odradena) i sad mi lupka lonac i zamjenit će mi ga u tvornickoj garanciji. Ima servisa, ali sve u garanciji.

Stvarno jako auto, brinem se za potrosnja I motor koj je stvarno trom, I ja mislim da uzmem 2020 model za 20k eura so 16 tisuce km. Dali¿

Hi Just bought LA18 YFV and I notice the Parking sensors and Lane Assist are not working. Can you remember if they were working when you reviewed this car ? Thank you Colin
It's rare that something isn't working on a press car, and I think I demonstrated them working in the video as well. The car is still under warranty so just take it to KIA 👍🏽.

Hey is the naturally aspirated 1.6 petrol available with an automatic gearbox? Or will I have to switch to the better engines to get an auto?

@@CarObsession thanks just watched it.. You didn't seem to like it that much :) but i agree with your conclusion my take on the sportage while i do like it more but the 1.6 engine is bit weak i may never be able to make any overtake on the highway
I have the gt 1.6tgdi 174 bhp and 2018 model it's a powerful car but the fuel economy is dire as it's the auto I have but I do love to drive it albeit like a grandmother. Lol

Hi kindlet1145, thanks for watching. This was the model that KIA gave me to test - unfortunately I don't always get the chance to choose which trim level I want, or it may be the case that the trim level I want isn't available for the time that I want it for. Hope that helps.

@@charnwoodmoto2496 Grille and headlights are down to the fact it's a lower spec model. It's an 18 plate as it was one of the first facelifts registered by Kia. Pre facelift doesn't have the chrome strip running across the front bumper. I can see where you're coming from Gordon, but it's definitely a facelift 👍🏽

The Qashqai is a horrible car to drive compared to the Sportage. It's bouncy as fuck going over speedbumps, the 1.5dci has no power and would rather stall than go forwards, the window switches feel like they are going to snap and the satnav is badly laid out.
Lol qashqai is horrible an boring looking to, i get my kia sportage in red its 1.6 gdi on tues 18th may an cant wait, the kia looks gorgeous such a nice looking car an perfect for family an camping trips 👍👍
