- I think it would be pretty tricky to find a single paleontologist that isn’t a nerd. I’m sure we’ve all collected certain things we’re interested in. Since the majority of the fossils on display at any given museum are direct cast replicas of real fossils, many people wonder how to get a hold of stuff like that for their own private collections. The answer lies in some of the same companies that make those giant skeleton casts you see at the museum.

I just Received T-Rex Maxillary Tooth, Velociraptor & Deinonychus Killing claws as well as Troodon (because TROODON.) foot claw. Love them. Wish the killing claws were bigger, but Jurassic Park is faaaaaaaaake. can't wait for a Utahraptor killing claw.

That mini Rex skull just amazing. Love to see full skeleton replicas from them in the future. I would throw out a cupboard to make a place for a downscaled Baryonyx..

Looks amazing! Mesozoic mammals or non-mammalian synapsid casts would be pretty interesting to compare with modern mammal skulls and dentition.

What happened?
So, for context I live in an area that's pretty close to sea level, I went to the museum on a trip and throughout the whole time I was in/near the mountains, I felt really odd, but chalked it off to a lack of water, I head into the museum and my excitement overcame that feeling, until we reached the room with I believe a few Dromaeosaurids attacking some pachycephalosaur, then my world started turning and I was quickly dazed and out of commission, I was alright it's just my body not being ready for mountain level oxygen.

Heh. Our head paleontologist has such a love hate relationship with Xiphactinus. I don't know that we could do a scale free-floating model of one since fish bones are so tiny and fiddly, but we might be able to do a scale panel mount! I'll ask.

Yep! All the claws and teeth are 1:1. Only the skulls are scaled down, and their scale varies between each skull.

The apatosaurus will be back soon! They have some tricky aspects that resulted in us needing to remold them, but it shouldn't be too much longer hopefully.

So, these aren't Real fossils, but exact casts of them, correct?

They’re quite durable. A real fossil will be more fragile then even the flimsiest cast.

Our casts are very durable. They're a solid, sturdy plastic and painted with high quality, durable paints. We've done drop tests with the skulls as well, and dropped from shoulder height they hold up just fine.
