A great comparison and I agree with your conclusion on choosing Chemical Guys. It’s more versatile, cheaper and most importantly does a decent job. Just a couple of things or three: 1) I know it’s a pain in the neck but safety first, please use protective gear, especially when the manufacturers recommend so, like nitril gloves and eye wear. Experience shows the cumulative effect of these chemicals get to you eventually as the Auto Fetish Detailer attests; 2) counter-intuitive but, please avoid rinsing the dirt before using the cleaner so the cleaners are operating at full strength and not diluted. Like the Forensic Detailer suggests more dirt gets removed from snow-foam when the dirt is not rinsed before-hand, you’re effectively using the cleaner at near full strength; 3) please use softer brushes not scrubbing brushes, just like we’re meant to use extra soft tooth brushes for cleaner teeth. You just might get an ever so slightly better results from it if you do.
Hi jagayong9333. Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words and great tips. We really appreciate that. We agree with the tips on PPE if you plan to use the cleaners a lot or in windy situations where it can get everywhere. Not a bad idea on not rinsing first. Gives me an idea for a test the next time we clean ours (which will be at the end of month after our offroading trip). Will have to see which approach works better. :-). Take care and stay safe out there!
@@SpiritedWrenchers Oh, if soft brush isn’t your scene, try those brushes fitted to a cordless drill, like the Detail Geek uses, it’s effective and much more easier on your elbow grease.
Thank you Geoff for watching and sharing the kind words. We really appreciate it. Even if a product had been given to us at no cost, our reviews will be honest and unbiased as we want to help others make the best choice for their situation. We're glad it came across as such in this episode. Cheers!
As a Professional Automotive Detailer, I can attest that Chemical Guys is hands down the winner. Our business uses almost exclusively, Chemical Guys detailing products. Though we certainly are happy with both of these great companies....I personally like Simple Green and Instant Shine on my personal vehicles.
Hi Albert, Thanks for watching and sharing with the community. We certainly appreciate it. CG make good affordable products from our experience for the most part. We couldn't say they're the best for all applications, but they have done well from a cost standpoint for what we do. We wish you continued success with your detailing biz. Cheers!
This is very interesting since I work at a car shop and the chemical guys cleaner cleans my rubber mats. Then again I use pressure washer and a drill brush. Also, you can coat the mats one last time and it will shine them up without making them shiny without slippery
Hi Joel, thanks for watching and letting us know your experience with the Chemical Guys cleaner! A drill brush would absolutely work wonders on the textured WeatherTech floor liners, but I still do wonder if consistent use of the Chemical Guys would make them sticky over time. I'll be using the Chemical Guys cleaner and protectant on our new Lasfit floor liners in the Santa Fe, which are made from TPE, to keep them clean and shiny. The texture of them is different, which makes cleaning is a less laborious for us. Thanks again for your input; we absolutely value it. Take care and stay safe!
I used a home cleaner and degreaser which is awesome It cost $5.00 and cleaned the mate really well. But I would like to try Weathertech Protect and on the mat to see what that does. Thank you for the outstanding show. God Bless you both. I am from Lakewood Ohio
Hi Robert. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words as well as your own experiences. We really appreciate that. There are tons of different options out there for cleaning these and yours is certainly one of them and not a bad one at all. Had we not done this test, we would have done something similar or used Simple Green. Always like hearing from a fellow Ohio resident as well. 🙂Cheers!
Hi John, thanks for watching and letting us know how much you appreciated the ingredients list! I always wonder what goes into all these products we use on the regular, especially if it's a proprietary secret. Not that we would recreate them, but awareness is always a good idea. Take care and stay safe!
Hi Uptone, thanks for watching and this most excellent observation! We are definitely going to dive in and see how the WeatherTech cleaner and protectant stack up to Chemical Guys on our Lasfit floorliners, which are still in the Santa Fe and going strong! We will have to reply back regarding the longevity. Take care and stay safe!
Great review! I would definitely say my plastic mats have been cleaned dozens of times and they get harder and harder to clean every time. I probably should use one of these chemicals. As a mailman, I get in and out of the car all day long and I have to constantly clean my floor mats
Thank you for watching and sharing. We appreciate you. I agree, that the more they age with mess on them, they get tougher. The 4Runner, I have never seen this clean since I got them and I've scrubbed the heck out them with regular car soap. They only stay brown so I'm really impressed with these two. I'd say give the Chemical Guys a shot to see how they work for you.
Great catch! Some companies that make cleaners are pretty shady about what they list on their products. You'd think the CA based company would be the most transparent about their cleaners! Great review and reminder that I need to clean my truck!
Good review, I'm probably not paying the extra for the weathertech cleaner either. I had weathertech liners in my last Vette and didn't repeat for the fact I couldn't get them clean enough for shows and had to pull them out for that.
Thank you for watching. Just like you, I pulled the OEM Subaru mats out at each show. Two reasons, one they never got as clean as they are now and 2, the new carpet ones I have always looked better. I am very happy though with how both of these worked.
LOL. Thank you for watching and sharing. We appreciate you. Yes, that is a major part of the task...having the mats first. LOL. BTW...shirts were delayed so hoping to have them in the next week or two.
hahaha, this whole video just seemed like a way to get Dana to scrub all the floor mats! I probably won't splurge on either of these cleaners. I have 3D Maxpider floor mats, and they have kind of a dimpled pattern to them and the dirt doesn't show up as obviously on them. I just wash them with the same soap I use on the outside of my car. I didn't even know they made separate cleaners for floor mats.
LOL. Thank you for watching and sharing. Funny thing is that the video was all Dana's idea. My part was only to record although I now have 1 dirty mat in 2 cars that I have clean myself now. LOL. We haven't see the Maxpider mats up close to see if they would work but so far on our other 3 they are great. To your point, I also didn't know there was separate cleaners out there for these. 🙂
Lol. Simple Green isn't bad at all. That's what we cleaned everything with in the Army. Can't say that it always worked though. Thanks for watching Outdoor Frenzy. We appreciate it.
@@SpiritedWrenchers it’s what I used in the AF as well. The only thing we found that it couldn’t remove is stripes from an idiot sergeant’s uniform or the brass from a butter bars rank.
@@outdoorfrenzy ROFL. Thank you for your service. It's all we used in the motor pool after coming back from the field. I grew to hate the smell of it and how I practically bathed in it while cleaning the undercarriages. LOL
Great review. A unique way to get Dana to clean your floor mats. Since I almost always opt for the cheapest route, I would have pulled out the Dawn dish washing liquid. See you next time.
LOL. Than you for watching. I have to admit this was all Dana's idea. My part was only recording. Now I'm stuck with 2 mats in 2 different cars that I have to clean myself. Bahahaha. I can't deny how good the products work though.
Hi realphenom. Thank you for watching and sharing with the community. That's a great tip and we can certainly see how that would help for the real nasty jobs. Thanks again and stay safe out there!
Hi Peter, thanks for this awesome money-saving tip! We were hoping the branded cleaners didn't require scrubbing, but alas scrubbing still works best even with these cleaners. I would only caution against using too much soap, which can result in the breakdown of the WeatherTech floorliners causing them to get sticky. While it hasn't happened to us personally, we have seen (and felt) the results and wish to avoid that for ourselves and all our wonderful viewers. A touch of mild soap and some good scrubbing with a thorough rinse and dry would probably do the trick. Thanks for watching, and as always, take care and stay safe!
The whole video makes the point that both these commercial cleaners are better than “a bit of dish soap.” WeatherTech mats tend to embed dirt over time to the point that professional detailers have trouble getting them back to original black. Although this review concentrated on getting the mats “clean,” only the WT protectant gets close to returning the mat to black AND (unlike many tire black products) does not make it slippery. So there’s a real difference between “cleaning” the mat and getting it back to its original clean, black, non-slippery condition. So if you want to just get it sort of clean and don’t care how it looks, keep using “a bit of dish soap” and you’ll be fine… Or even cheaper, just dump out the mat every once in awhile-that should be fine for some, too. I personally can’t deal with cleaning a mat and having it look bad. Just my two cents! 😅
Hi Sally. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. It means a lot to us. We're very happy this episode was helpful for you. Stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated. We actually care what goes into the ground on our property, thus the interest into what goes into these cleaners. Since you are also concerned about the grass on our property, you'd be happy to know that the grass grows amazingly. So well, we have to cut it every 5 days and this episode did ZERO damage to any of it.✌ 🙂
