Such a light bulb moment for me. This whole video I needed. New to homeschooling, worried I’m f*cking my kids up by following my intuition. But you are so right we are homeschooling because we don’t want the same results as a traditional school. Something about that just made it easier to swallow and think about what I want the kids end goal to be with homeschool.

Thank you thank you thank you! A lot of my local homeschool moms have different thoughts and this is exactly what I’ve been needing to hear. Saving this for future encouragement!

This is our 4th year homeschooling and we’ve evolved into just what you’re saying here. So great to hear you put it so eloquently!

Im looking forward to playing with my kids as we learn! Its going to be my first year hm my boy in 1st and my daughter in 3rd. My boy is super energetic and was able to sit still and excel in public school but i believe he will still learn without having to do tons of worksheets. He loves to be outside and play sports and my daughter is very independent and she loves art! Im excited that they eill be able to learn by playing and making things

I would love to know the title of the book about the American revolution you spoke about!

Oh thank you for saying this, I meant to put it in the description! It’s called Guts and Glory: the American Revolution by Ben Thompson. Highly recommend it!

I personally find interest lead creates more lasting memories. Sure I can choose a topic, but I can allow a lot of flexibility within that topic. As we have all experience in our own lives, just because information is presented doesn’t mean one retains it.
I also feel like those that lean on traditional instruction, feel a sense of security, as if that boxed curriculum is going to give them a better outcome but as we know, there are no guarantees, and there is no special perfect formula.
I am enjoying your videos 👍
BTW your eyes are very pretty.
I don’t see the link to the book, who is the author?

Thank you for your kind words! I totally agree with you, there is definitely a false sense of security that comes from following a curriculum. And sorry I forgot to add the book to the description! It’s called Guts and Glory: the American Revolution by Ben Thompson. Highly recommend it!

Any way of Homeschooling/unschooling can be successful or a disaster. I have a child who loves me teaching them and one who loves learning on their own. Neither would be successful without an immense amount of work on my part. Most kids can’t be just set 100% free I’ve seen too many kids fail this way and it’s devastating to see.

Same can be said about some students in the traditional school system..🤷🏽‍♀️
