Great video. Just one quick TTL tip for you, kind sir: fire the flash in TTL and if it's perfect first shot, hold the TCM button on the pro trigger for about 2 seconds and it transfers the last shot output to Manual flash mode, locking it in. Your trigger's LCD screen will now show Manual mode and the settings it has locked in. Therefore, it 'saves' you time rather than costing you time. When you do the TTL initial shot - zoom in on your main subject's face before firing, so the camera meters for that and not other parts of the scene, such as your bride's white dress/groom's dark suit. When you get used to it, it's literally one shot in TTL, convert to manual, fire away getting identical exposures every shot until you repeat the process for a different scene or change in lighting position/direction.
For Canon shooters, follow what I said above, but instead of even taking the first shot you can simply press the exposure lock button, which will fire the flash without taking a shot and store the flash output. Then press the TCM button on the trigger for 2 secs, etc.
You're awesome Taylor. So many photographers are unwilling to share knowledge or charge for it. The amount of knowledge you give back the wedding community is amazing and at no cost. Thank you.
Finally a simple one flash BTS that makes sense!
I'm glad you mention subtle. I know everyone starts off very excited to blast the ocf. It takes a little while for most people to turn it down.
I really like the way you explain things! Short, to the point, very practical! This is great information for anyone getting started with off camera flash!
That rain shot....marvelous
Thank you so much for your videos! They’re so helpful but also the way you teach is not overwhelming and makes ocf seem lot less scary.
Great vid taylor. I've done around 20 weddings and only used off camera flash in a few, with varying degrees of success and confidence. This was helpful for sure.
I'm more of an ambient light Photographer but I'm always looking for ways to improve and make my work standout over the competition. Flash Photography is something I would wanna incorporate to my arsenal especially now that places are reopening and clients are starting to pile up schedules. Thanks so much for this you inspire me!
Who else has been waiting for this ? 👏🏽
Me :-) And well explained... as allways.
Me. I have a shoot in 3 hours. I am excited to blow their minds away.
The “bye” when you walked out of the frame at the beginning has me dying 😂😂😂😂👌🏽
You're amazing at teaching. I'm trying to gain the confidence to start shooting my own weddings. I've been second shooting for 4+ years. Thank you so much!
Just do it, im onto my 4th wedding, still feel like i know nothing but im loving it. Just do a couple really cheap, especially small relaxed ones.
Very nice to see this technique still be used today. I was doing this 35 years ago using the Lumedyne system and Hasselblads. The advancement in technology has made this a nice super light and compact system to work with. Nice work and an enjoyable video.
I can just say thank you, this is content is so valuable, i learn so much with your videos. love the way you explain everything.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Taylor, I appreciate your time and knowledge.

Such tangible advice! Thanks for all you put out for us
Yay! Great timing! I needed this.....
GREAT Video Taylor ..awesome tutorial
Taylor - i really enjoy your videos and this one especially! I have been trying to master the flash and this really helps, please do more!
You’re awesome, simple set up and 1 flash. I’m all about light travel
Great tutorial, thank you Taylor!
Thank you Taylor - that has completely demystified a problem for me. Bring on the next wedding!
Great tips, Mr. Jackson. I last shot weddings in 2010 and wish I had some of this info back then. I did use off-camera flash using PocketWizards but your strategies are much better. At one wedding outdoors, there was a videographer team using their annoying lighting but I managed to get one image using their light to silhouette the bride and groom. Just luck.
I want MORE!! love your videos, I'd like to see more tutorial styled videos!
really appreciate the effort and the sharing. glad to know so much can be done with a V1 on a stick. also very much appreciate your positivity. super impressive. thumbs up.
This has saved me. I’m shooting a wedding in September and had no flash 😢 but now it have
Minimal yet effective! Thank you for sharing this, Taylor!
Thanks!
You’re a freaking genius my man
Cheers Taylor, great vid!
This is so good as a tutorial and the way you do things is very similar to the way I currently do things, so I feel like a pro! ;D
2 minutes in and I already love it! haha

2:55 “BYE” 😂😂😂
This was so helpful Taylor! Always love your vids!!
Love the backlit shot x
The best Tutorial!
Those shots are wonderful
Watched an ad so I could support your channel even in a small way. Thank you for a quality channel
Great video. Very informative yet concise and I like your sense of humour!
Good info - I shoot with flash probably 90% of the time - but sometimes ambient light works just fine - diffuser one one side, reflector on the other side
Great vid. Fast straight to the point info.
Great information and examples, looking to learn alot more
Excellent hands off nice video i have learned some useful this as I am beginner of off camera flash thank u
I love your videos!!! Thank you for everything.
Well explained. Thank mate.
U r giving NYC ideas and Information about photography
Recently been using the Godox V1 as off-camera flash as my very first flash unit, but not strong enough here in the Las Vegas desert especially if it is before sunrise outdoor, so just returned it for Godox AD200, looking forward to incorporating with Magmod too
I really enjoy your videos.
Great documentation haha! The go pro setup is amazing!
thank you sir. got nice information regarding off camera flash tutorials
Go with the Flashpoint r2 pro mark ii if you are looking for a trigger. Same cost, has more options to use and the buttons are back lit. Flashpoint/godox work together.
I used my flashpoint v860ii speed light as my trigger. It was more useful that way for me because if I was walking around the reception and someone wanted a photo quick, I could still take it and keep my iso down. My other two lights would stay around the dance floor or wherever you have them setup.
i needed this knowledge thanks
A tutorial in real life situation. WoW.
these are awesome
Really nice video and work!
This is just awesome.
Thank you for this video.
Great video, thank you!
Great video. thank you so much. learned a lot with the positioning of the V1. As i am still learning, wish to see some settings from the camera that you used, and the flash. Thank you. Subscribed :)
Best photo graphi ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Taylor!
Thanks for watching/commenting!
Great video. I tend to over analyze too much with the ocf stuff. And their are too many videos out their who advocate it. It's good to hear someone who keeps it grounded and for good reasons.
I know that I leave some potential quality not captured by bringing in modifiers, but I feel like it gets me 90% of the way there without making the wedding day all about the photographer and his gear rather than the couple haha.
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I know what you mean. It's about following them, not vice versa. It doesn't take much as far as flash units, to spoil creativity though and actually LOOKING for things to capture.
its astonishing to see what you do with a single speedlight
Cool, great tutorial👌👌👌
Keep sharing and loving guys
You are the best mate 👍🏻👍🏻
omg my new favorite photographer channel! definitely subscribed!
Man your so good at this. I'm trying to diverse into photography. I normally do videography. But these videos are so helpful. I actually want to use the HSS mode .... The way photos come out with higher shutter are so dope
Fantastic sir.
Helo from Brazil...thanks for sharing your experiences...
Productive tips 👏
Great video 👌🏻
Love Godox for what they have done, on that note the main issue(s) are
if you're using non Godox strobes you can not control the lights even
with the firmware updates. All you have is a trigger it's looking like
Yongnuo is the only flash controller that will work with your mix of lights.
Thank you bro for this video...
Take love...
Thank u for this tutorial
Thanks...lot of knowledge …Great
Please do more sooner that was really helpful
Not f*ckin bad, just found you and just subscribed, keep em coming, man im lovin it.
I have been shooting angry 😤 thx for the cheat code bro 😎 love it
Great tips
Thanks for all the tips Taylor! I appreciate it. A challenge I had this past summer was in a dark wood room. It was very dark and very orange. What would be your idea to solve for that?
I used to think the same in not overdoing certain photos like this but to each bride or bride and groom this photo is unique to them. I always ask if they want this shot the day of if it’s dark and rainy. I have to remind myself that I’m not shooting for myself but for my couples often.
Extreme talented guy 👌
i've been using the V1 and XproC with my Canon R5 and have been having some incredible shoots with it. Im loving the combo. Decided to go with the V1 over the profoto, mainly because of the price but I havent had any negatives yet so thats good. The one issue I run into is bouncing the light in a difficult situation, like different elevation ceilings or dark rooms etc. But been working around lol.
How do you handle rooms where you can’t bounce light.
Thank you!
Amazing
Cool video
Thanks sudah berikan teknik pose wedding... Sangat menginsfirasi sekali... So thanks again... 🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊
Thanks!
Quite explanatory and detailed you have put into this tutorial. I wanna order exact set up for my Sony.( Godox V1 and xpro trigger) but wanna know what light stands fit with it. Wanna make sure that I order right light stand with V1 S. Thanks in advance 🙂
