I would argue that instead of fixed OB/OS lines you could potentially use multiplied ATR or standard deviation to get dynamic levels from the zero-line.

This is very clever, by only taking the signals that are far away from the mean, you increase your odds of winning. It's basic mean reversion trading and very sound advice. This works well for other indicators as well as the MACD, as long as you can measure the standard deviations, you can trade this strategy.

Thank you for sharing this interesting new indicator: impulse MACD. In regards of the breakout signal, I think it is delayed too much. Any way to make it more sensitive and gives the signal earlier?
Change the MACD parameters and reduce their average values. But this also adds up in reducing the overall efficiency as more number of false signals would be generated. So do some trial and error in order to get the best results for your customized needs.
@@kaejolie It's better to simply observe the chart and see how MACD marks the moments of reversals. :) The best if you learn Pine Script so you can make your own specific MACD indicator that even can mark/label specific cases for you. I have mine. 🤘🏼

Who say MACD(12,26,9) must be the standard one, Can you use contrarian MACD (21,12,3) from higher time frame say 3months to monthly or from weekly. Study them, you will know when is the righ time to buy etc. See the lens from opposite view.
If it is so simple, then why would I advocate reverse MACD. USe this and add 12EMA. When Macd above zero, you can't buy. When MACd turn down, look to buy becase the 12 EMA is sloping up. When MACD below zero and sloping up, you can buy becase the 12 EMA is down
How do you screen for stocks that work well with this strategy. It seems effective but this is kinda of like going panning for gold and you're telling us to pick up the gold nugget when you we it. Question is, where do you find this gold to begin with?

Indicators will work after the trend and not before the trend. So it's better to go with the trend. Indicators can only used for safe exits.

Wow! Never thought many traders don't understand MACD. MACD is the best in case of sideways market. Key is the Histogram, not the crosses. :)

it works on any timeframe. But, you would need to constantlv adiust the levels every time you switch timeframes, depending on what you choose

It’s literally the same🤔. I stand to be corrected but it’s just the histogram turned upside down but the buy and sell positions/signals are same.
