If only Pharoah had listened he could've spared both himself and his people so much suffering. But when a man's ego, his pride rules him, then nothing else and nobody else truly matters to him.

@thecowboy9698 According to the Bible, it was God who hardened Pharaoh's heart. I like the way this film had Nefretiri do the dirty work, so you're not quite sure if someone is pulling her strings. Is it God, or is she just a bitter, unhappy, and manipulative wife? 😆
Nefertiri: "You would not let Him do this to me. I saved your son!" Moses: "I CAN NOT SAVE YOURS." I don't know why but, Heston's delivery of that line always cracks me up. 😆
Honestly I don't think the Egyptians or any other civilization in that time period had any of the luscious fabrics they used for costumes in this movie but no matter, the costuming was magnificent just the same! They pulled out all the stops for this one!
I met Yvonne Dicarlo when my husband did time with HER son m. Morgan (his name Earl Lawson) she was just as beautiful in 80's than when she was young. We remembered her from "The Munsters!" Cindy Fox-Lawson.
What exactly did she expect? That Moses was so grateful that she had saved his family that he would forget them and remember his love for her? I’m sorry but it seems as though Nefretiri entered into this course of action with very unrealistic expectations. She plays both sides and therefore is not worthy of Moses, but ironically the man that she had married more than she cares to admit. She is as treacherous and as cruel as arrogant as Rammesses. And because they are so alike they repel each other. But you do see that Moses does still care for her as he pleads to God for mercy.
From the time Sephora and her son left till Moses returned home must have been hours, in that time Nefretiri left alone in that house most have snooped around since it's probably the first time she had been anywhere where poor people lived. She'd probably just been in her father's palace, Ramses' palace and maybe the homes of the rich. I also have to wonder what it felt like to her being in a poor person's home.
"In the hardness of his heart Pharaoh has mocked God and brings death to his own son." The misery suffered by Egypt was all Pharaoh's fault. His stubbornness and pride offended God Almighty, who will not tolerate mockery.
I'd wish that she would take her son out of Egypt like she did with Moses' son but that wouldn't have been enough to let the Hebrews go. I've always felt sad for Nefiteri and her son. Both were tragic characters.
I don't think Nefertiti is very bright here. She think Mose is doing all the Plagues but it really God behind it all. I also think she had other motive behind saving Mose's Son by send him & his mother away. Meaning she wants Mose all to herself at all cost. Even at the expense of killing a servant like Memnet or removing Mose's wife Sephora. I feel also that Sephora is nice and would prefer Mose to be married to her. She is both loyal and kind, while Nefertiri isn't nice. All Nefertiri's thoughts are on her own needs and no one else!
Zipporah tells Nefertiri that she "is indeed beautiful." But I believe that Zipporah is the more beautiful of the two, there is physical beauty and an inner beauty. Nefertiri plays the role of a proud, arrogant and selfish woman, not a God fearing woman (Yes I know its only a movie but it reflects much of today's world.)
@@Moses-x4r Sorry no, Zipporah was a Midian. The Midians were not a black people. Neither was Cleopatra black which is what some are trying to tell us today. Nefertiti may have saved Moses's son and wife, but make no mistakes. Her goal came from a place of selfishness not love or loyalty. Nefertiti did not truly love Moses, Sephora, or his family. Moses was the object of her obsession and lust, which was confused for love. She thought that if she saved Moses's family, she would be rewarded with his love. She wanted the power she thought Moses possessed, not understanding that it came from Heaven, not him. She might have been doing the right thing, but it was for the wrong reasons. You can see that Nefertiri is jealous to find out that Moses wife is beautiful as well even without the fancy clothes and glamour, not to mention having a son.
essentially no one tells god what to do, he does whatever the f he wants, up till now he's just been using moses as a conduit to deliver his commands and the pharoah didn't listen each time and so the pharoah decides to do something really stupid and kill all the first born, of course god knows about this and decides it's time to get serious. felt sorry for nefreteri though, all she ever wanted was moses but i don't think she would have given up her status and power for him if offered the choice unlike sephora, also she's manipulative and jealous and caused this situation because of those traits.

This is one of my favorite movies , but it is not correct according to the Bible . Moses was 80 and Aaron was 83 when he returned to Egypt to confront Pharaoh .
I wonder if Moses asked God to Spare Nefreteri's son, would he have, perhaps's Moses could convince God that sparing her son was the right thing to do to honor her for going to save Mose's son, in return let her son be spared as well, I think God would have spared her son because she was working through her heart and true love from her spirit for Moses, but ah last Moses never made an audience with God about the matter, if it were me, I would have spoken to God about her and asked that her son be spared, of course the final decision is of the most high.
Why should Pharaoh and Nefretiri be spared what afflicted the rest of Egypt? Pharaoh was mostly sheltered from every previous plague; tragic as it may be, the loss of Pharaoh's son (or a similar personal loss) was the only way for Pharaoh to accept defeat (though he then sent his armies on a suicide mission to kill Moses.., at Nefretiri's urging). As for Nefretiri herself, she "saved" Moses' son, not purely out of the goodness of her heart, but because of her desire for Moses. In sending away Sephora and Moses' son, she tried to get them both out of the way in order to have Moses for herself. That also was the reason for hardening Pharaoh's heart and appealing to his arrogance just as he was about to listen to his ministers to let Moses' people go. I'm not sure what faith you practice, but God is not like another human being to be "convinced" by the limited intellect of man, even a man like Moses. Man cannot change the decree of God. Whatever God decrees, it shall be done.
If you read the original Exodus account in the Bible the relationship Moses had how Nefertiti wasn’t mention in the Bible. This was made up by the director and writers for dramatic affect, the movie isn’t 100% true to what the Bible says. Moses probably wouldn’t have asked god to spare the son of Pharaoh become Moses on behalf of God already gave Pharaoh 9 times before the 10th plague to repent and listen to God. The reason god caused to 10 plagues was to attack the fake Egyptian God they had invented, Pharaoh and his family were the embodiment of Ra’s (pagan god) his children here on earth , they saw themselves as Gods and refused to listen to the one true god. So god used every plague to embarrass and prove he was the only God. In the Bible God used Moses to warn Pharaoh if he did not free the Israelites that the 1st born would die including his own son, but Pharaoh refused and caused his only son to die. I recommend you read Exodus chapter 11
@@aaronmercado8630 yes but Moses was human and may well have been set uneasy by the prospect of any child having to pay such a price for his father's pride

No. She did not deserve Moses. She desired him, but she was nowhere near his spiritual equal, unlike Sephora/Tzipora. Some things are more worthy of receiving love than the temporary beauty and passion of a seductress.

I like that Moses was sympathetic to the Egyptians, despite what they had done to his people. Presumably the Moses of this movie would be satisfied just to take his people and leave the Egyptians in peace.
"About midnight... The Destroyer will come into the midst of Egypt" - still sends chills up my spine. Who, or what, exactly, is "The Destroyer"? One of Yahweh's angels of Death? Or one of Satan's? They seem to work hand in hand.
As it is in 2024, the descendants of Egypt have captured the children of Israel and hold them prisoner, and as a result the capturers and their people experience terrible plagues of war and hunger and fire and loss of life until they decide to just Let My People Go. Pharoah just had to free the Israelites to end the plagues and live in peace, and so it is now. So far they chose Plagues & suffering but I hope they'll soon chose peace and coexistence, as it was 10/6 and as it was in 106BC
It is sad that the story of Zipporah in this movie is not biblically accurate. In Exodus if you read it in Hebrew translation, it says that when Moses was called back to Egypt Sephora refused to come so Moses divorced her and left her and his children with Jethro.

Amen! GOD is sovereign, just and merciful.
Apparently Moses had an eye for the ladies.
Ann Baxter Una de LA's actrices mas Linda's
When he says "The Destroyer will come," I can only picture the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters.
God did spare him. He has a chance in the ressurection now.
He does pray sort of: "turn from thy wrath Oh Lord" are the next words to come from his mouth
@@aaronmercado8630 yes but Moses was human and may well have been set uneasy by the prospect of any child having to pay such a price for his father's pride
Moses could have at least adviced Nefertiri to bring her son to a small place in the palace, a stable or something, and paint the blood on the door. Then if ignored him , it couldn't be said Moses didn't try
You can’t fool God nor can you fool an angel. !
He should have tried, yes at least.
or at least he could have told her that the only thing that could save her son was to give what the Lord wanted.
anne baxter she was very good .the cast made the movie il think without cedrick hardwick il think it became that good excellent actor..no one could missed from the cast.de mille had very lucky .
What an entrance
0:54 Nefreteri was about to catch a beat down from Sephora lol!
The best story ever told in the old testament about Pharo & Moses was in Egypt. God chose a Royal African country to tell the greatest story ever. You got King, Queen, Prince and princesses and wealth and power. The story is about two countries, two brothers, African Royalty and slavery, maintaining power at any cost. God shows how mighty and powerful he is through the journey. At the end, God Separated the bothers to lead their own people. What a Biblical drama it was. Only God could of set that stage.
"By myself, I am nothing. It is with the power of God..."
Nefreteri deserved Moses more than anyone, she loved him truly. Even after she lost him she tried to save his son
No. She did not deserve Moses. She desired him, but she was nowhere near his spiritual equal, unlike Sephora/Tzipora. Some things are more worthy of receiving love than the temporary beauty and passion of a seductress.
I think you deserve Nefertiti or than anyone else
@@trunkzdbz4355HOW????? stupid can you be, honestly, to suggest a person that GOD made can change his mind??? It's all GOD'S Will right? So how would anyone convince GOD of what GOD'S Will is going to be????
Just like women. Worrying about the wrong sh**. What should be point of note is that while doing GOD'S Will, Moses has NO time for even his own wife. So..........................🤷🏽♀️
"Don't you KNOCK??"
-Sephora
"By myself, I am nothing..."
They could have snuck Nefretiri's son (& Nefretiri) into Moses' house during the quarantine.
LOOOOL. YOU JUST MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD.
Funny how they just barged in, no knocking nor any type of announcement.
We both lost him 😅😂😅😂😅😂
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 👍sephora 😍
Her name was Zip·poʹrah
Unfair
Lily Munster
*Turn from Thy Wrath, Oh God!!!*
They were both pretty, but Yvonne was prettier.
Anne was.
Such a camp performance by Anne Baxter lol.
Actually most of the actors gave camp performances in this film.
3:16
Moses: (After learning of Ramsees' decree) Oh God.... My God! Out of his own mouth comes thy judgment...
Nefertiri: But I have saved your son, Moses.
Moses: It's not my son who will die. It is... it is the firstborn of egypt. It is _your_ son, Nefertiri!
I like that Moses was sympathetic to the Egyptians, despite what they had done to his people. Presumably the Moses of this movie would be satisfied just to take his people and leave the Egyptians in peace.
What they never say here is that it was just every 1st born. It was only the 1st born sons.
does anybody knows the name of the fabric of her dress? it looks like melted silver.
They f ont even politely knock on door. She could have been shiwering..lol
This film made 1956 and I was born in 55
"About midnight... The Destroyer will come into the midst of Egypt" - still sends chills up my spine. Who, or what, exactly, is "The Destroyer"? One of Yahweh's angels of Death? Or one of Satan's? They seem to work hand in hand.
Since it was God exacting judgment I'd say an angel of death, not Satan. Though there are plenty of bible references as Satan being " the Destroyer "
Anne Baxter couldn't hold a candle to Yvonne De Carlo. And I don't mean that in any religious sense.
He is so in love with Nefretiri.
No. He remembers his past life and he has a place in his heart for Nefretiri. But his love now is for Sephora.
Tzipporah*
Big Mean Squeeze it can be spelt both ways :)
The King James Version of the Bible spells the name of the wife of Moses as: "Zipporah."
Neferteri still trying to get Moses!
No wonder the greatest fall of ecey great nan is alwats vexause of a woman, if uou can resist this like moses, nothing can stop you from being great
i'm honestly shocked they didn't catfight lmao
Why didn’t the Pharoh die was he not the first born too.
They were talking about current first born children of that particular year . Not of Pharaohs generation
It is sad that the story of Zipporah in this movie is not biblically accurate. In Exodus if you read it in Hebrew translation, it says that when Moses was called back to Egypt Sephora refused to come so Moses divorced her and left her and his children with Jethro.
That's because it's a movie, not a documentary!!!!!
Zipporah the origin of the name of the Zippo lighters. 😊😁😋
Actually, with Nefertiti loved Moses more than everything, Egypt and Israel. Egypt n Israel are brother. Good relatinship..so Iran and Syria are never attack Israel anymore.
That's NefertARI, not NefertIRI :)
Nefertiri pulled up in 2024 BC Cadillac XT6 chariot.
He told her 3 times
Her name was Sephora
So everybody say Moses instead of Moses we Indians it is Brahma Vishnu Shiva it our God's and the Goddess even great Gandhi says I am Indian like you but the Indians made him great Mahatma Gandhi
My problem with the movie is although beautiful done it has a lot of scenes that are not biblical and if people don’t take the time to read the book of exodus you will only have the movie version and not know the biblical version
