I've waited more than 30 years to heard this again. Best World Cup song of 82. Thanks for uploading.
Only age 9, we did top the group ⚽️⚽️⚽️🥊🥊🥊
wow...i remember this...superb 1982 World cup beating Spain in their home land.
I was one of only a handful of Catholics that went to the 1982 world cup in Spain. I was there amongst 5,000 'Norn Iron' fans... I had to keep my wits about me but I fell in with these boys from the Shankill who were great craic and they even knew I was Catholic.
We were there when Gerry Armstrong scored the winner against Spain.... Crazy scenes then and afterwards
Always thought that Georgie Best should’ve won a place in Bingham’s 82 squad
I'm Scottish and I absolutely loved this song. I was 14 and knew all the words 🤷🏼♂️😆😆
Yer Man was Gerry Armstrong!
Oh dear me! I'll give it a thumbs up anyway, just to be kind!
Big Gerry...good times :)
R.I.P. Billy Bingham
brill…hope they be singing this in the stands on monday night!
Oh we're off to Spain with a Hand grenade is what my dad used to sing
When ALL of Northern Ireland supported the national team and ALL the players played for their national team. Not the Republic because they are Catholics. Ironically Windsor Park is a much more welcoming venue for Catholics than it was back then.
Hahahahahahaha...aye alright then.
@@sean3470 well whatever you want to think. I’ll hardly lose any sleep!
@@raftonpounder6696 the problem was the endorsement of sectarianism by northern Ireland fans. Neil Lennon was booed by the fans before a terrorist organisation threatened to murder him for captaining northern Ireland. There was a lot of bigotry on display when the republic of Ireland qualified for the world cup at Windsor park in 1993. These factors alienated footballers from a nationalist background and some of them like Darren Gibson, James McLean, Shane Duffy and others elected to play for the republic of Ireland. When faced with the prospect of losing more Catholic players to the republic the IFA responded by launching a belated campaign against sectarianism. Self interest made them do it.
@@wonjubhoy Lennon was booed because of what he said. Plenty of Catholic and Celtic players have played and continue to play for their country with absolutely no problems. There was sectarianism and bigotry in all of football years ago. When Manchester United went to play Shamrock Rovers in a friendly, Norman Whiteside was bombarded with oranges being one incident I remember. Catholic players and supporters are more than welcome at Windsor.
@@sean3470 now we see who the sectarian muppet is 🤡
Can't wait for the euro in 2021
Absolutely delightful!
"Arconada... ARMSTRONG!!!"
Can a Catholic support Northern Ireland
I mean, yes, if you are from there or have a connection. Supporting northern Ireland in football doesn't mean you support partition per se. I'd celebrate if Nprthern Ireland got far in any tournament because I still see it as part of the Irish Nation. (Irish nation doesn't mean Republic that is the most important thing a nation is a group of people belonging to the same Identity they identify as Irish and British whereas the rest of the island is just Irish.
Im catholic and i support NI… so ye pretty much
I NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE AS FOOTBALL SONGS GO NOT BAD
I lov Northern Ireland 🇮🇪
Que padre que dana cante para apoyar a un equpo
super smashing great
what's a mick from derry singin for NI?
John O'Neill, another one was playing for them
Some Rebels support NI as well bud.
I am surprised Dana sang this as she claims to be irish(republican), even though it has been 40 years since I heard it. 🇬🇧
Sorry but she has never claimed to be a republican
@@gerrybrown9672 Her political views aren’t that far removed from US evangelicals, so in that sense she is a Republican. She’s been a US citizen for over 20 years.
Hi Colin I think we have different views on what republican means in America and what it means in Ireland but as her brother I can promise you she’s not a republican
Doesnt matter as Northern Ireland we should be United Catholic, or Protestant, Irish or English. No none of that irish british shit. Were NORTHERN IRISH. VIVA NORTHERN IRELAND
who is the bloke between Martin O Neill & Noel Brotherston at 1:55?
Uck sure that's yer man.
Billy Hamilton
@@statto74 Thanks for that, I notice that my old newsagent Tommy Cassidy is missing from the shot of the players :-)
This song's even shittier than I remember....
