THIS IS WHY YOU DONT HIDE THE IDENTITY OF BIO FAMILY EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM. I know a family who the dad turned out to have four other secret families he kept from each other. Two of his bio kid# ended up dating each other in high school, not knowing they were related. Fortunately they found out before it escalated further than kissing but still so disturbing. In the story I’m sharing it’s absolutely on the dad. In the story they’re reading it’s awful that the dad abandoned them but it’s on OPs mom for hiding the fathers identity.
There's a whole bunch of updates and I hate to victim blame but Op's mom did try to tell op. Op just never wanted to listen. Had op said he was gay and showed pictures of who he was dating to either his mother or brother (cause mom told and showed brother what the dad did and looked like) then op would have known David was his father.
The mom tried and her only crime is that she didn't force op to listen. She repected his boundaries about talking about his father and that ended up in his detriment.
Op is hiding behind "we're a secretive family" when it's only op who keeps to himself. Mother and brother talk about their lives together, regularly.

it’s like nick cannon. obviously he’s famous so his kids are likely to know about each other but there’s so many the chances of incest are so high
@Katie Lowery I find it interesting you bring up nick cannon but not sperm donor babies. There have been cases of kids made from donor sperm falling for each other
Nick Cannon and his army of kids are probably never gonna be incestuous unless some Duggar stuff happens which is a whole nother issue.
Plus Nick Cannon so far hasn't abandoned any of his kids so far.
I don't think any of Nick's kids would be in the same situation as op.

I have a cousin whose dad told her she wasn’t allowed to date her boyfriend and had to be pushed into admitting that her boyfriend was actually her half brother that they had never confirmed before. This is why you tell people who their family is!!
That's why my mother was so damn angry at my father for keeping his 2 son's a secret from me and my sister for half of our lives! He had 2 sons with an ex girlfriend before he knew and married my mom and had me and my sister. My mom's biggest fear was exactly this to happen that someday me or sis fall in love with a brother of ours without knowing

i’ve watched the podcast for a while and never commented on this but i’ll do so here because this feels like a good opportunity with this video having a super cool version of the intro. the song that you guys have always used for the intro. i have always thought it sounds like they’re saying “pickle mania, pickle pickle mania” and i literally cannot unhear it and it drives me nuts especially knowing that i think i’m the only weirdo who hears that. idk. i hope i’m not alone 😅

I once heard a similar story on the radio as I recall it, the guy calling said he had a daughter he didnt know about when he was barely 18 the ex never told him about, around 20 years later he's getting married to another woman and on his bachelor night he slept with the stripper (yes he cheated but not the point of this story) a while later the ex (the one from the past that ghosted him) calls him to tell him about the daughter they had had and how she (daughter) wanted to meet him no hard feelings or anything so he agrees to meet (more for closure) as he got closer to the cafe he sees his ex and the daughter from afar and the daughter IS the stripper he had sex with on his bachelor night.
He bolted without letting them know he was there, as you can assume the guy was a MESS and didnt know what to do because apparently the daughter had gotten pregnant from their one night stand making the baby both his child and grandchild at the same time, of course the only one in the entire mess who knew about the whole disaster was him😱😱😱😱

There is A LOT to unpack here but stepping back and taking all the info, the dad was 20 when he split and is close in age to me now. Back then, being gay or bi was not what it is now and while I don't condone abuse of any form, he was likely in an extreme identity crisis and finding out he had another baby coming put him in a tailspin. Both likely gravitated to each other instinctively but what a way to find out. I can't imagine never having seen him at all. I hope they can somehow recover but that really is hard. One of my high school friends found out her dad was gay when he was caught in a prostitution sting operation, they had no clue he was and found out when they had to bond him out of jail. He came home, packed up and left his wife and three kids with no further contact. He now has 6 grand kids who he has never even seen but they have shown the kids pictures albeit old ones because they don't have any recent. Family dynamics can be hard at the best of times butt this one really is!

It's on the dad. Like you know you have a kid out in the whole around that age. Sure you might not recognize them but dude ask questions or don't date kids the same age as your own. I agree with other comments. How did he not know his own kids name?
I mean there are two people to blame for this situation. Sorry but the parents are kind of shitty. How can a mom really let her son get to that age without letting him know his who his father is. He clearly didn’t know his name or what he looked like. And how could this dad go this long pretending he didn’t have any kids out in the world. I get some moms don’t let dads in the kids lives but this dude didn’t even know what his kid looked like or his name? How do you date someone and never realize “they that’s my sons name and my exes last name” this isn’t a blameless situation.

I know we only got to hear a short portion, but I don’t think I have ever disagreed with your commentary more. Starting with this is nobody’s fault, no this is the fathers fault. Fathers aren’t supposed to be in their children’s lives. I know in the story there can be some argument around confusion of a sexuality being a reason he left, but he still had an obligation to help provide for these children. So if the father had done his duty, This would not have happened.
I also do not think the comment that biology doesn’t matter with parents is really disrespectful to birth parents. I know several people who placed children and adoptive families we the became unexpectedly Pregnant at very young ages. This is a completely valid choice for women to make. Those women still think about their birth children daily and love them deeply.

I’ve never understood the splitting things equally it’s a partnership you should want to help your significant other!
My sister got married at 19, he was 24 they had separate finances the first 2yrs but they didn’t do 50/50 it was the same percentage of their incomes so he did pay more I think it worked out 80/20. At 2yrs they wanted to start trying for a child and combined finances. It still was a bit of a split now is OUR money it’s all in together and she’s in charge of everything and he gets spending money and gas money he has to ask because he likes to spend money but has gotten a lot better.
We are in Canada so may leave is 12 months, she wanted to go to work she didn’t want to be a stay at home mom so during daycare years she worked part-time then when she’s in school she will work within school hours. So they decided she would do more of the household cleaning, he can’t cook but he doesn’t complain it she can’t cook he’s in charge of picking something up. They’ve been married 8yrs their child is 6yrs old,it’s a partner ship nothing is split evenly.
