    Even while old and injured Larry Bird grabbed boards and made buckets.

      Yeah but the Celtics couldn't get out of the second round at that point actually they couldn't get farther than the first or second-round past 1988

      After Larry Bird retired the hornets knocked out McHale and Parrish and Robert parish an expansion team for crying out loud but they did have Larry Johnson and a rookie Alonzo mourning who was a beast in his rookie season but no one really talks about it because of Shaquille O'Neal's rookie season

      @@RedGarnett-n2pthat expansion team had two of the best young players in the league. The label “Expansion team” is misleading for those Hornets as they were a very good team. If LJ didn’t injure his back, they’d have been contenders in the East.

      As opposed to leflop james who acts like he got shot before anyone even touches him.
      These two teams were rivals of the "Bad Boy" Pistons & dealt with unbelievable physicality. Then MJ & the Bulls got that followed up with a rivalry with those bruiser Knicks teams in the 90's.

    Bird and Celtics were good still in 1991. They had a deeper team than the Bulls but they just didnt get the job done . No excuses.

    • @rogerahier4750

      Bird only played in 45 games and McHale in 56 due to injury Bird couldn't even sit on the bench. Not much he can do if he is unable to play.

      @rogerahier4750 8 месяцев назад

      @@christiansoldier77 That is just a dumb question. It had everything to do with them not advancing. You don't really think they were anywhere close to 100% in the games they did play. You would have to be a complete m0r0n to think that missing your 2 main players that much in a season with them playing hurt in the games they did play doesn't have any effect on the playoffs. Pleas tell me you are not a complete m0r0n.

    • @elroz1675
      @elroz1675 6 месяцев назад

      @@christiansoldier77 are you pretending or are you seriously not getting it? I watched that whole season. Once Bird went down with bad back started missing a bunch of games, when he did play he was hampered, he didn't practice nearly as much due to the back pain, and was moving poorly when he did come back. McHale was playing injured as well.

    Right there should be a part 3 gonna make me look up who won this game lol this celtics should have faced these bulls in ECF but they blew it against the pistons in the conf. Semifinals never forget that terrible goal tending call on mchale at the end of game 6 .. gurantee the bulls wouldnt have swept the celtics like they did the pistons..

    • @ILoveOldTWC
      @ILoveOldTWC 11 месяцев назад +2

      They wanted the Pistons. Beating them meant more to them than beating the Celtics at that point because Detroit had beaten them 3 straight years in the playoffs. Celtics were still good despite the aging Big Three of Bird, McHale and Parish, because younger players were stepping up like Reggie Lewis (who unexpectedly died of a heart attack a couple of years after this). 😢

    • @elroz1675
      @elroz1675 6 месяцев назад

      Yep. I recall that game. McHale came from under the basket and did a beautiful put back on Reggie's missed shot. The ref made a shitty call. Then D Brown for some reason was backing off Thomas with only 2 seconds on the shot clock - he ain't going to drive with only 2 secs, get on him - and so Thomas banked in a 3 pointer off the glass. Bird was moving poorly due to a bad back, but late in the game he came alive and scored key buckets. The next season Celtics went 4-0 vs Pistons in the regular season.

    • @zap_sigma1
      @zap_sigma1 4 месяца назад +1

      No, the Bulls were dominating anyone they played in '91.
      Everyone knew it was the Bulls time. Hell, even the '86 Celtics had all they could handle with MJ. Add in a breakout Pippen, a solid Grant, plus a supporting cast with a deep bench & the Bulls most definitely could have swept the Celtics, or any East team.
      Keep in mind, this '91 Bulls team were only two threes away from sweeping throughout the Playoffs.

    • @elroz1675
      @elroz1675 4 месяца назад

      @zap_sigma1 86 and 87 Celtics were 6-0 vs Bulls in the playoffs. Yes 1991 Bulls were on a mission and were the best that year. Celtics were 2:2 vs them that season, and eventually they were injured and out of rhythm. Bird, McHale both missed a lot of games and were limited when they did play.

    • @zap_sigma1
      @zap_sigma1 4 месяца назад +1

      @@elroz1675 Tell the WHOLE truth. The 86 & 87 Celtics were 6-0 vs Jordan with no supporting cast.
      Larry Bird got dropped onto a team full of Hall of Famers & those Celtics still barely eeked out a 3-2 Finals record while they & the Lakers ruled the NBA.
      Jordan inherited a Cocaine Circus for the first three to four seasons he was in the League & STILL had a 6-0 Finals record.
      And if you want to say the League was tougher in the 80's than the 90's, think again.
      Only 4-5 teams were regular, legitimate tiyle contenders in the 80's, while FOUR teams were legit title contenders in 1991 ALONE.
      Facts don't care about your feelings.
