I love working in coffee shops cliché... I know but there is something about the environment and the PEOPLE that I love when trying to get work done! With no alternatives in sight, I turned my DIY thinking cap on and decided to turn my own kitchen into a DIY coffee shop instead! In this diy diary, I create a simple DIY menu board inspired by the George & Willy: Atelier Letter Board version! Now I can write messages, display menus & leave fun affirmations to keep me feeling positive during a pandemic!

Totally agree on a cafe nostalgia. During a break in quarantine we closed our balcony and made a cafe area. Never regretted on it.
I’ve just quit my job in a coffee shop and started my masters degree in occupational therapy. Almost a year in lockdown made me realise how depressed working as a barista was making me and how much I didnt want to go back.
With all that said this is super cute
I had a friend who "was" a Barista and she felt the same way. Good luck!
It sounds like you found your calling! I was a barista for two years and have gone on to my career and miss barista-big every day! Haha
I muss spending time in libraries so much . They are open, but you can stay only for 30 Minuten. Maybe a Idea für my living room? 🤔

You're lucky, here in Germany we have a total lock down. You are only allowed to buy groceries and go to work. That's it.
@@chrissiecrucified4616 I think it is not a total lockdown in Germany, because people are allowed to go outside when they want to, as long as they keep distancing and wearing their mask and they can meet one person outside their household. In a total lockdown people wouldn't be allowed to meet others and other restrictions I don't exactly know. So even though most people often call it a lockdown it is actually a shutdown - at least that is what the news call it (tagesschau for example).
Ours is drive-by pick-up only. 😭

I feel like this could easily be switched for a renter friendly DIY. Since the letters weigh almost nothing and the metal bars aren’t too thick, you could use command strips. On the metal bars, instead of drilling them into the wall you could cut the command strips in half and add them to the metal bars.

I used the same Rustoleum chalked Charcoal on an antique trunk that I restored. Its my favourite thing to look at in my home.

I miss coffee shops too! My husband used to be a barista and we would hang out at his work all the time. And we both miss it so much!! We live in the Tampa area and there are a few really cool coffee shops that were so fun to hang out in.

If you ever need a new 'black', I've been in love with Rustoleum's 'Oil Rubbed Bronze'. You'd think it would be brownish, but it is a really nice flat-yet-shimmery black. I'm using it for EVERYTHING. My parents even asked if they could use a can for their mailbox. They're now in love with it too

Hey Danie! Loved this project. It looks soooo good!! I wanted to mention that I have some letter boards that I purchased from Wal Mart or Target or Michaels.... don't remember which, but I also purchased extra letters for them. For storage I went to a big box store, probably Lowes, and purchased what are called a "Stack-On". I think most people use them for storing screws and nails in their work rooms, and my husband suggested these to me. They are all sub-divided and they work perfect for all of my MANY extra letters for the letterboards. I am not affiliated with any of the stores I mentioned, but just wanted to pass this bit of organizing info along. Again, LOVE your letterboard!! xox Keep up the great content!
And this is why I love your channel. I kept thinking . . . Gold letters and black bars . . . or wall-colored bars with a thin red line on them so it looks like everything is underlined . . . or put the magnets on the backs of the letters but not quite in the same spot on each one so they look a tiny bit jumbled when they are on the wall.
So much could be done with this!

I LOVE "bit of sugar". It's the color in my kids rooms and will probably end up in most of my house when I get around to repainting. It's both warm but still a clean white at the same time.

I miss them so so much too... my husband and I met on our first days as baristas so coffee shops are definitely our thing... we had to buy a Breville espresso machine last summer because of the quarantine lol! Might have to recreate this over it!

Having made model cars as a kid, I could see the painting problem on the wall before you pulled your letters from their mold trees.
Loved the idea of the message board. If I didn’t have the world’s most curious cats and a naughty climbing cat I’d make one for my home. I guess I’ll stick to my chalkboard version. My boy cats would take off with the words and play soccer for days.
I didn’t realize Canada was in a galaxy far far away, but I guess it seems that far if we measure from Texas to where you live.
