A Tip. The long candle wicks that you cut off can also be used for future candles. Attach one end of the half wick to a metal paper clip. Just slide the end between the inner and outer curve of the paper clip. Voila, you have base for the wick. Use just as you did the new ones clamped in a metal base!!!
Awesome tip, thanks for sharing it! I have thrown away so much extra wick that I could’ve used!!
You are so talented!!! I’m so jealous 😊😊
@@carrieavila5713 how to make easy Christmas projects for kids
That is awesome thank you for the tip😊
Thanks for the tip 😁
This was great!
You were informative and I honestly love that you don’t edit out the small blips like how the first hot cocoa wasn’t the right color or when you started whisking your wax too early. I’ve never done anything like this so it’s just as helpful knowing what to avoid and look out for instead of having textbook perfect tutorials where everything turns out flawless on the first go.
Plus, you’re like a REAL PERSON and not just a manufactured content farm.

Love these! I have started dabbling in making candles myself. Finding candles at thrift stores, etc. can also be melted down to make cheap candles! ☺️
Your diys are always so fun and very beautiful. Thank you for sharing ❤
Omg these were all so cute! I will definitely be trying these!!!
Fabulous ideas and directions!
Bethany love you & love watching your channel! You are breath of fresh air! 💕🤗
I love these i have all those Mrs. Clause gingerbread themed Christmas decor I'm definitely going to try some on these candles they are all adorable.
why is it that every time i see your videos i get really hungry lol love yor candles
Can you only use the decorating bag and tip once? I don't see how you can get it clean
For the "syrup" on the ice cream, maybe freeze the candle first, so when the hot wax hits the frozen wax, it freezes in place, like a drip cake. Or possibly let the hot wax set up just a bit so it's thicker.
That’s smart
Bethany, your candles look so great!
Back when I used to make a lot of candles and soaps, I had all dedicated pots, bowls, cups, and mixers. I stored them all in two separate lidded, plastic totes. Not everyone does that, I learned by experience. One holiday season, I attended a Christmas open house and there were some goodies that tasted super perfume-y. A lot of us were kind of baffled and just politely avoided those goodies. It was later rumored that our crafty hostess had used some of her kitchen equipment to make her candles and had later used some of that same equipment to make the treats. I believe the connection was made when the Christmas candle gifts from her later smelled the same way those cookies tasted. 😂😂😂 Y’all don’t poison your family or guests! 😬😎
Great suggestions.
😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣aaww, bless her little hostess heart
😂. Sorry but that is funny!
😆 🤣 too funny, so if the utensils hold the scent would the oven hold the scent as well? 🤔 😆
Glad you credited Kelly Barlow. I have been a subscriber to both of your channels for awhile. 🙂 She needs tons of extra support right now, so I'm sure she appreciates the extra love! ❤️
Im gonna make a few of these candles, I'm much older and I love to see young gals doing any kind of crafts, shes doing a great job and they are super cute. And I'm gonna check out Kelly Barlow.
I had no idea whipped wax was even a thing - thanks Bethany for a great tutorial!
I love making the faux foods, but this is an even better option. Because they can be used as candles/melts as well. Perfect for gift giving 💕 Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing 🤗 xo
My mom used to make candles when I was a kid. She mixed Ivory Snow detergent with the wax to come up with pure white “snow “. Then she dipped her ball shaped molded candles to create a snowball look and topped them with wax holly berries and leaves
Oh I remember those candles from when I was a kid! Thanks for the tip- I want to try it!
I love that idea!!!!!!
A pro tip.. please make sure you are using the right size wick. You can’t use one wick for a candle vessels. You can drown your wax and it won’t melt or you can heat up your vessel way too much and can potential burst your vessel. And some vessels need more than one wick depending on the size of the vessel you are using. For example, the glass mugs from dollar tree requires two wicks to burn evenly.
Yep.. lots of test burns! Wick will make or break your candle. I've had to double wick anything at 3 inches across. Otherwise melt pool doesn't reach the edges... I use Hemp wicks.
I also don't use dollar tree wax because it has Paraffin in it. I use soy or bees. Clean burn
This is why I've never made any like this. I feel like the wick would drown so fast with all those decorations
@@taylornation320 I make candles with wax decor on top, you just have to know the wax and wick you are using to know if it will handle embeds. As long as you wick properly adding embeds isn’t an issue.

I love all of these! I didn't know how they got that wax to look like whip cream or ice cream. I learn something new here on RUclips every day. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the candle made to look like a bowl of milk. But really I loved all of them. Awesome job Bethany! I love how you are always so great and giving credit where credit is due! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see what your next video will be of!! 😃♥️🧁
Just when I was starting to stress about Christmas presents~
😂😂😂😂
I always made candles as gifts. I would buy candles at yard sales and the dollar, store and the way I would melt them is on the stove in a sauce pan with boiling water. Worked pretty good for me.
For a darker brown wax, use black and brown alcohol inks. Drip the colors in and stir the melted wax until you get what you think it will be close to when hardened. The alcohol will burn off in the hot wax and shouldn't affect the aroma of your finished candle. Good luck, fellow crafters!😄
I’ve been DIYing all my life (I’m 24) and this is one of the best DIYs I’ve ever seen. Thank you!! ❤
Omg!!!! These came out amazing Bethany!!! I am always so impressed with everything you create?? I just tried my hand for the first time in fake foods and made donuts they came out great!!!!! I love creating new things and now it looks like I’ll be trying my hands with wax lol my craft room is getting fuller and fuller of diy stuff lolol
I never thought about using the oven to melt the wax! I was actually just attempting making wax molds with the Dollar Tree pillar candles. I had those jars in a boiling pot of water for forever and could never get them to melt all the way. Thanks for the tip!!
I did this recently and made candles out of vintage tea cup a saucers so cute and I sell them all day at the artisan local market for 15 dollars each. I even added a tea bag string and tag hanging from the tea cup. I am trying to make lemon wedges to put on the tea also, sugar cubes whatever to jazz it up
You, Kelly, Kathryn, and others always amaze me with y'alls creativity.
Thank You Mrs. Alma Trumble!
@@BargainBethany you're welcome friend.
Not all glass is created equal. Meaning not all glass withholds the same heat temperature, and it can burn a house down with your loved ones. Be cautious everyone ❤
Hi Bethany! I'm a big fan! I love your videos! You are so creative!!!! I love the hot cocoa candles the best! I can't wait to make these as gifts for my colleagues and friends for Christmas! By the way, I made your witch's broom and I made the big foam board haunted house and I took them to work/school to share with my students. I modified the house to be like Hotel Transylvania. It was a big hit with both the kids and staff. Thank you!
Thank you so much. All of the candles are super cute, especially the square mug ones!!! You got me ready to make some for the holidays 😀I cant wait to see the candles you come up with after your classes because you are so creative!
While I’m watching this video with wax and molds you could also do this with crayons, melt down crayons in the molds and make Christmas crayons and gift them as stocking stuffers or gift them to kids in your family!
Those look amazing and I'm so glad you tweaked it for the dollar store candles! Can't wait to see more. Much love! ❤️
Wow, what a great idea to source the wax from dollar tree pillar candles. Wax can be sooo expensive to buy at a craft store! I think I'm going to melt down some of the candles I already have that are boring and make cute candles with them. Thanks for the inspiration.
I am super late to this video but I love it! These all turned out so cute, I will definitely be trying! Kathryn on Do It On A Dime did something similar. Thanks for the oven tip! Super helpful. 😁💜
Ridiculously adorable! Between you and Daveda Lane, I've made so many faux sweets and I can't wait to make these!
Love all of them!! Your crafts are amazing Bethany.
You've done a very good job of creating new candles from Dollar Tree candles. I used to make candles with paraffin and use crayons to color the wax. These days there are so many things that can be made to go along with candles that they're really fun to make.
Awesome ideas! Super cute. I’m just wondering is clean up a nightmare? Everything you use is it just used for candle making? Like the measuring cup, whisk?
I loved them all your work is just Amazing! I think you should open up your own business with all the things you make you could make a killing my friend... Are you the only one in your family that’s talented? You are just amazing I can’t say enough great things about you!!!
I love the idea but dollar store candles can’t be good for you 😅😅
I make faux food candles all the time! Issue is I do all that work and then I feel bad lighting it cause it looks so pretty, but then if I don’t use it, the candle goes bad so what was the point of all that work I just did? At least like faux mug toppers, faux food decor, and even cake-like-costumes, like I’ve made some faux cake purses and earrings for a customized commission which people take to tea parties, but those things you can use and not actually destroy the item while using it. Like a faux whip cream mug topper doesn’t break when you put it on top of your mug, unless your actively trying to break it like throwing it at a wall or something, but the whole point of a candle is to light it, candle melts down, especially free burn candles (which would be the cupcakes that are featured on the end cause there’s no glass or container that’ll hold the wax once you light it- the wax would just melt onto the table or whatever surface it’s on), and now your art has literally been set on fire and turned into a puddle.
The internal dilemma is real LMAO 😅😩😂
These are all so cute! When I was a kid I had a candle making kit, but this seem much easier I love your video's Thanks and can't wait for more DT Christmas ones 🙂
Great candles! Hey all, don't forget to check your wick thickness or amount in comparison to your candle volume/ width so it burns evenly😁❤️
Hey Bethany....
These are Great but for those using the wicks from the DT tall candles the cup candles require an extra wick. Using the wick from the tall candle is fine but it's Only made to melt the small circumference of that jar. ... Which is about an Inch or so. Once you put it say in the coffee mug, it's now a much wider size ( about 3, 1/2") so you'll need to Add another wick about an inch apart from each other, Centered. If you want to make 1 in a bowl you'll need at least 3... Those you'll want to center in a Triangle form 1 top center ( not close to the outer wall) then 1 under off to the right, the 3rd off to the left just like a Triangle centered and an inch Apart. You'll find your candles will burn much more evenly and without tunneling. Remember Each wick is only made to burn a specific size circle. Lastly be careful how much icing & Embeds you Add .... Especially if you now have the correct amount of wicks (2/3) your candles can overflow out of your mug just watch the level of your main wax. Hope you find this Helpful!!!! Your candles are Amazing..... Youre already ahead of the game making candles & the whipped wax. I love Nikki too.. I learned how to make my whipped from her. Happy Candle Creating...😍💯👏
Hi little one! I use eye shadows or crayons 🖍 to dye the scented waxed that I sell. Also to make more whippy the wax you can add a little bit of baby oil it will take a little more time to harden. Cheers from Mexico 🇲🇽 😘
I have been seeing this trend a lot recently and I really want to make my mother-in-law some wax melts for either Christmas or her birthday. She is absolutely obsessed with wax melts, like me, but I don't use store bought melts anymore. I order from a family owned business from the state that I live in. I'm definitely going to buy some unscented candles from DT and some silicone molds! I have essential, and fragrance oils, because I send handmade scented cuticle oils/hand sanitizers with my custom press ons, so I'll be able to make her some custom scented melts. Thank you for this!
you did a great job in making the candles. you do not need to take a class just watch a bunch of RUclips videos. I used to make to sell and one thing I can tell you. Never leave your candle directly on the countertop to cool. you need to raise up a bit. I used place my candle on empty cat food can do it sit up higher and not touch the countertop. two reason the first one is the hot candle wax can cause problems for your countertop and the second reason so that when the candle start to cool the top does not sink in.
It can be a expensive hobby but you can get block of wax or soy wax and it would be cheaper in the long run. one big block of wax can make a lot of candle. also please be careful and only use scent that is made to be for candle. Also you should look up on how to do a Ice candle. it very easy to make and it cool. it using a paper milk carton and Ice, wax.
Bethany you are simply amazing with these faux treats! I love it! I love all of the drinks! 😂
That is a really good trick with the whip cream wax. I never knew that.
Oh my! You and your faux foods! So good! Love the marshmallows! I’m planning on doing some candles and want to try the whip. I may be calling you for tips. 😆
Bethany you make it look easy! I am so loving the hot cocoa cups, and the cupcakes, wish me luck lol
Interesting! I always wondered how to do these. You could do tart size mini cupcakes I bet would work!
Whipped, Wax, Whisk, Wicks!!! These all came out so darn cute!!! Keep them coming! I'm finding all kinds of vessels around the house to make candles!
I have really been wanting to try the whipped wax technique. The cupcakes turned out so cute!
You can add crayons to darken colour just a little bit will go a long way and shouldn't change the smell too much.
These candles look amazing! I actually just bought some of those tall candles from DT, and a small ceramic loaf pan and a matching ramekin to try making some decorative candles. I haven't done it yet, but now I'm not afraid to try! Thanks Bethany!
I saw the ramekins and loaf pans and thought they were so cute! but didn't know what to do with them. So thanks for the idea ☺️
These are all so cute Bethany! I love the cupcakes and the hot chocolate mugs especially! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Bethany! All are so beautiful! I love all of your diy candles! I will be making them. Tfs
Happy Monday beautiful talented creative Bethany! Your so creative with your DYI. I love the ginger bread bowl candle! Beautiful cupcakes! Love them all thank you for sharing this inspirational DYI have a blessed week.
Very cute! But I would think that getting a hand whipper/mixer (like a Braun), heat gun, a glass measuring bowl, a bunch of icing tips and bags, wicks, a bunch of molds, glasses or bowls for each one, and of course the dollar tree candles, pizza pans, wax or parchment paper (as well as sprinkles or anything else I'm forgetting) that the cost of making these will add up really fast!
I think even more so because once you use these for wax, you really shouldn't use them for any cooking or making.
But either way, yes these are cute. Just costly.
I make candles just for me and a few friends and I have separate cooking utensils and measuring cups ect.
It doesn't have to be costly. The cost for the items shown to make these candles, including the blender and heat gun, if not already owned, would be near or under $60 and the items are re-useable to make more candles. However to purchase from a retailer these specialty candles, it would cost just as much for one candle, i.e. $60; if fortunate; two candles. In comparison it seems more frugal and special, and a lot more fun to go this route, not necessarily costly. But anyone who is a crafter knows that crafting can run the risk of becoming an expensive hobby.
and honestly people should have some of these items... like glass measuring cup... u don't have to buy wicks if u buy the large candles at DT... just reuse them. and you do not have to be sooo elaborate on making your candles too. it's a personal preference...also just wait to buy the molds from DT too. Just think outside the box... these are jist for inspiration
Love all these candles. There are so many adorable candles to make when you get started. TFS Bethany, have an awesome week.
Great ideas as always, thanks Bethany 🕯
Thank you so much April! 🥰
For the cupcakes, if you wanna make them into a candle, you could use the wick as a cherry stem and run the wick through like u did with the ice cream scoops. These were all so adorable
My favorite was the hot cocoa with the whipped cream n gingerbread lil guys on top. Thank you for all these tips. Your awesome. New subscriber here🙋🏼♀️
Oh Bethany you are so creative and artistic. I love the cupcakes and the
mugs. They would make great gifts. Great shout out to Kelly. She is really dealing with some tough times right now. Sending her prayers
Mind officially blown‼️ 🤯 Those are definitely some next level candles Bethany‼️ Wow‼️ Incredible job girl‼️
My favorite was the hot cocoa!! Looked so yummy!!
Hope you’re having an awesome day!!😊
Bethany, This was an awesome video. They all look yummy enough to eat. Every time my Hubby hears you talking he asks me, "is that Chicago girl". 😆 We used to live up your way. He's too funny.
Thanks for giving Kelly a shout out , her personal life is in a sad place right now and the extra love will be meaningful!
I don't know if it's possible, but could you get a wax warmer safe bowl to replace the warmer plate with? A bowl would be large enough for the whole cupcake.
I love how you really describe everything so completely. It helps!!
They are all so cute! I love the little melts you made in the silicone molds. 😺
Are the sprinkles that you put on the top real sprinkles??
These are all so cute 🥰 Walmart has a lot of chocolate molds that are much smaller I used them for my daughters birthday party love them because I can now use them for things like this thanks for the tip never thought of making candles 🥰
Soooo cute!! I love the hot coco ones too! Do you have to be nervous that the glass might shatter due to it getting so hot? I have little ones and would be nervous.
I’m actually not freaking out about Dollar tree candle hacks, so you can modify your title to “most people are freaking out about Dollar tree candle hacks”
Shout out to Kelly because that is the best way I've used, and only way now, to melt the candles! Her cereal candle has been my favorite since I first saw it and was gonna mention it, but of course you showed it😉You did a great job and agree on faves, if...you include the ice cream too🤣Tyfs❤🙏🏾
OMG! 🧡❤️🎄
I am adding this into my business. I make candles & this is going to take my candles to the next dimension💥
Thank you! I was wanting to make candles for my family this year
So awesome Bethany tyvm! Everyone and anyone that knows or doesn’t know for that matter please go over and give Kelly some love she needs as much support as possible right now she is going through some pretty tough things right now tya Bethany your the best!
Loved this video, Bethany! 💗💗💗Just loved how real you were about how the DIYS don’t always go according to plan 😂
Kelly does a great job with everything. Your candles are adorable!! TFS!
Keep Kelly in your prayers. Her son was diagnosed with cancer. She has a video about it.
I will pray for Kelly and for her son going through cancer
Please, beware of Dollar tree candles, I watched Kelli, and Sara Jane "chic on the cheap" , and have done these candle hacks, last year I had 3 candles brake on me and Im very careful working with wax, I followed their instructions to the T. I tossed it out and have chooses not to risk hurting myself for these cheap candles.
You mean the glass broke? While you were burning it or do you just mean they're cheap?
@@hinu1987 The glass broke, while I was heating them up and they cracked, thankfully they weren't fully melted, maybe I got a bad batch of glass, I just wanted to pass it on.
OMGosh, Bethany your creativity is so impressive!!! It’s not easy to pick a favorite, but I’ll say the hot cocoa. 🌸❤️🌸
Kelly Barlow is Amazing & So are you♥️♥️♥️ You both are my favorite various crafters 😊
Loved the hot chocolate mugs with the faux whipped cream with the wax figures. So adorable
Your candles are amazing!!! Love them all so much. Your such a joy to watch Bethany! Tfs -christine
If the color is not exactly right the easiest hack that my mom taught me before she passed away for coloring candles the correct or desired color is you just use whatever color you're aiming for of a piece of crayon or the whole crayon and you melt it in with the wax just as you would the wax normally and mix it together it turns into the color that you are more aiming for when you mix them together because of the high amount of pigmented color in the crayons and I'm sure you can probably find a cheap box of crayons at the dollar store I'm guessing or at Walmart or some other store you could probably find a cheap box of crayons you can also do that with plain white or whatever light colored wax you can take it from white to whatever color you want to turn it to with a crayon this also works well for blending a couple different crayon colors and making it all your own color which adds a unique original touch to it and you can come up with some beautiful colors that were not available prior until you made them yourself I've also been able to mix crayons into white wax in two separate containers and then kind of did this marbling effect when I mix them together made them kind of blend a little bit with each other but not fully so it had this kind of marble design to it like when you do water marbling on your fake nails it had the same type of effect and blending just that little bit to make it a unique beautiful design I hope this helps for anybody who reads this comment and is the candle making enthusiast or a seasoned professional candle maker
The whipped wax reminds me of how I make my lotion with different things like shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax. I whip it all in my kitchen aide after it cools, in the fridge, and starts looking solid. Never thought of the molds for my lotions. That might be fun.
These are all so cute! Thank you for doing all of the research.
This is so cool Bethany. I love it. I want to these too now. Thank you for all the great ideas. By the way all your Christmas decorations in the background are so cute.
You have THE cutest stuff you’re always making! You’re my #1 go-to & favorite craft channel! ❤️
YOURE A GENIUS!!! I love bargains and I've never met a Bethany I didn't like, so you get a subscribe from me and notifications set to alll!!! I'm also deff gonna go creep on the candle girl 🤣👌
Did you add edible sprinkles?
The wax isn't drying, it's cooling. 😉 If you need a heat gun, grab a Michael or Joanne's 50% off coupon and you can get them for eight or nine dollars.
If you need to color your wax you can always do the crayon- people will tell you not to you but I'm 60 years old and I've been doing it for as long as I can remember and I have never had a problem, lol. I used to melt just the crayons with absolutely no candle wax, put a wick in them and call them a candle. They worked perfectly... I just buy the white Dollar tree pillars and add some chunks of whatever color crayon I need.
Awesome job. These are great. I love the hot coca ones. I just wonder what about wine glasses or even margarita glasses.? I have a few friends who love wine and cocktails? You are very creative. These look good enough to eat and drink!!🤍❄️👍🙂🌲🌲🍨🍨🧁🧁
Beautiful! Thanks! May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
Bethany I have always loved your personality and you have impressed me with recognizing the people that inspired your ideas. Very classy.
Have you heard about Kelly Barlow's son.🙏
These are so nice and would make great gifts! I am Canadian we don’t have Hobby Lobby only Micheals, I am close to Washington State and have seen them but never shopped at one, I thought it was the same as Micheals. Which is the better store. Thank you for all the wonderful DIYs that even I can do, my husband tells me I am craft challenged. I start project but most times I screw it up.
Newbie here- This is soooo stinking cute! Thank you for sharing with us. Can you add essential oils for scent to the melted dollar tree wax?
True love is unconditionaL when there are conditions thats NOT love ! That woman made Regina miss being loved for years ~ despicable woman Ms Ford was!
I reuse BBW leftover wax for wax melts (purchased molds off Amazon). I re-use everything.
