I don't have a garden but I think I could make it work with store bought tomatoes. What about if I put them a few minutes in the oven at a low temperature? The tomatoes would not be dripping, and it would concentrate the tomatoes flavor. Sometimes I eat roasted tomatoes by themselves with a little salt, thyme, basil... absolutely delicious. That crust I really have to try... it must be out of this world.

I use them for recipes like this often - cherry tomatoes are really nice if they are roasted first then make the pie and roast again….helps reduce the moisture a bit & caramelize them because I’m not sure salting cherry tomatoes would work as well as it does on slicers 😊
You would need to buy pie crust that you can roll out. Pastry dough is different and would not work for this particular recipe. I think Pillsbury makes a good store bought pie dough.

Could you use cherry tomatoes for this? I find they have the best flavor for tomatoes from the grocery store.

What’s a good store bought alternative for the dough? Is it pastry dough or pizza dough?
You would need to buy pie crust that you can roll out. Pastry dough is different and would not work for this particular recipe. I think Pillsbury makes a good store bought pie dough.
