    5:00 was when I was blown away. That's it, my metal band doesn't need a guitarist anymore.

    • @AlexanderWright

      Haha! Well, maybe not a rhythm guitarist ;) It's a great pedal, and really versatile, so it's quite hard to demo everything without the video getting a bit boring, so I'm glad you found it useful :)

    Hi Alex. I see you haven't been posting for a while. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos. They were very helpful with my intrumental two-piece project. I used some of your ideas for signal splitting and they sound great. Cheers!

    That guy at the end is amasing on guitar... Also I wanna see the californication (lol) pedal vs that pedal. Also more collaboration videos are a must!

      deadstarlights yeh he's not bad is he? Doubles up as a good camera man too ;) OK man, that's 1 vote for the JOYO! ...and yes, more collabs = more fun!

    +Tim Torstensson hi Tim thanks for the comment :) I make the drums myself using Guitar Pro (and drum tabs), export to MIDI and then convert them to something better using a free VSTi called SuperDrumFX. It's not a 5 minute job, but I hope that helps!

    Ever go all out and try this with a Bogner?
    Was thinking Bogner Uberschall would shred it.

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад

      +john vanbruggen no I've not, but the Uberschall looks awesome - I love that boost switch on there, which would give extra control for ramping up the main riffs of the songs. Let me know if you try it out!

    Hey Alexander your videos are amazing. I learn a lot with you. I have one question. Can you show the difference of Ehx Micro Pog and Ehx Pitch Fork? Both pedals have octave up. The sound would be the same? Thank you!

      César Candido thanks man, glad you're finding them useful :) I don't currently own a Pitchfork, but I am also interested to know what they sound like! I'll have to investigate, and then make a video!

      Blue Moon Thanks man :) haha! My theory is that my RUclips ad revenue will eventually pay for them all ;) Seriously though, my tip is to buy second hand and sell them on afterwards - I've actually made a profit on a few...

    hi, great videos btw, I have a the following pedals. polytune 2, crowella animated pedal, a darkglass microtubes b3k a boss ls 2 and a sansamp bass di.
    my sansamp is on always.
    I want to set them up so the Crowella animated is being blended with the sansamp on one of the lines and the b3k and sansamp is on the other line. could you explain what to do. I bought the ls2 second hand and didn't get any instructions. cheers

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  8 лет назад

      +andrew Edwards thanks Andrew, glad you're finding them useful :) if you're seen my video explaining the Boss LS-2 (link here: ruclips.net/video/TtyQBC9DKaE/видео.html ) then quite simply all you need to do is put the Crowella in one loop and the B3K in the other.
      Once you've done that, run the output from the LS2 into your SansAmp so that the both signals are being run through it. It doesn't matter where the tuner goes, but you might want to put it in front of one of the pedals in a loop, so you can use it to switch that loop off with your foot if you ever need to.
      Hope that helps! :)

    Compare with the 2 pedals 2 amps, I have liked that sound best so far and want to see if this new pedal changes my mind... I have two amps and a bass... I MUST KNOW WHAT PEDALS TO BUY!!

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад

      Brandon Brown haha! OK man, suggestion noted :) but remember, even if the GT2 sounds better in this case, 2 amps will always look cooler ;)

  • @bassinitup431
    @bassinitup431 6 лет назад +1

    For a bass player that plays cleaner and wants a slight fuzzy tone and sometimes heavier (I’m sure maybe this has been asked but I don’t want to read that many comments 😑) would you recommend this pedal?

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  6 лет назад

      I would recommend it if you want the versatility of having a large range of sounds - I didn't demo it here, but the Tweed setting simulates Fender style amps (not sure which, presumably silverface), which are much cleaner, but can have a bit more crunch.
      Note that in my setup I have the Boss LS2 to make sure I have control to blend in the clean signal as well, which I find more important to the overall bass sound than the actual distortion pedals.
      The GT2 is very pricey if you already have a single sound in mind, that you could get with a cheaper pedal for a specific purpose.

    • @bassinitup431
      @bassinitup431 6 лет назад +1

      Great! Thank you 🙏 I went ahead and found a used Gt2 in very good condition, and it should be arriving within the week. I did notice the LS2, and I haven’t come across or researched that particular pedal, but I did note the way it interacted with your tone in this video. My drummer is heavy into Royal Blood, so I sent him this video, and I am a huge Tool Fan. Justin Chancellor apparently uses this pedal as well, though not why I bought it. Hopefully I can get my desired tone without too much background buzz!!

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  6 лет назад

      Well definitely have a look at the LS2 for keeping the low end in your sound. If you haven't seen it already, I have a video on it here: ruclips.net/video/TtyQBC9DKaE/видео.html
      Hope you have fun with the GT2 when it arrives - I'm sure you will :)

    Do you have any video playing the microPOG and the bass chorus deluxe together? I'm very interested in the kind of sound you would get and I am seriously considering buying the microPOG to find out.

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад +1

      Bolt excellent idea! No I've not made any videos like that yet - but have been tempted to do a few vids on ambient sounds for bass (octave, chorus delay, reverb etc). Your question has pushed me from being tempted to planning the videos!

  • @GugaRamone
    @GugaRamone 9 лет назад +2

    The GT2 is an amazingly versatile pedal. I just wish you have played it more without the POG.

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад

      Thanks man, yeh I love it! :) playing more without the POG would have kind of defeated the point of this particular video (fake guitar sounds for Royal Blood style effects), but I might just have to make another video using it on its own :)

    • @GugaRamone
      @GugaRamone 9 лет назад +1

      I'd really appreciate it. Also this reminds me to hunt down a Boss LS-2 to blend the clean signal to the distorted sound. Cheers mate!

      Guga Ramone ok man, I've got a couple of vids on my to do list first, but I'll do a demo of it soon. Definitely get that LS-2 - it's my favourite Boss pedal ;)

    I got the Sansamp! One question Alex: What's the best set up for this pedal you could figure out to work out with the Pog? (knobs and switches). Mine still sounds a little metalish kinda fuzzy sound I'm not 100% happy with.

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  7 лет назад +1

      Hey Juan! I think it the heavier settings sound a bit more metal because they lean towards a more scooped EQ (high bass, low mids and high treble). I put my mic switch into classic mode which instantly helps, and then its a case of taking off the low end, because your bass does that anyway. I generally put mine in the brit / marshall setting with the hotwired setting, and then lower the gain and increase the volume to suit. It really is preference for your own sound at this stage though :)

    I'm curious how you recorded the demo. Do you have a mic on the cab? an XLR out? Both?

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад +1

      nephilymbass1 you know, you're the first person to ask me that! Yeh it's just a simple mic on the cab job - I use the Olympus LS-12 stereo recorder, set to automatically determine sound levels. In this video I've also mixed in the mic from my camera just to get my voice a bit clearer.

    Can you explain your chain?
    I'm a little lost as to what order you have these in.

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад

      ThePustulioFoolio sure, it's all explained here: ruclips.net/video/ouaHxAF5TkU/видео.html in this case I simply swap the SansAmp GT2 in for the Boss DS1. Just ignore the MXR pedals, as they are not used in this video (in my chain, they are after the output of the Boss LS2).

  • @KT-zx8ln

    What is your eq set up like on your bass amp? I have this pedal set up and can't quite get that guitar crunch.

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  7 лет назад +1

      As you've noticed - using the 4 pedal 1 amp setup is a bit more tricky (than using 2 amps) because the amp needs to handle both the fake guitar and bass sound. To try and help bring out the higher frequencies in the crunch, and keep the bass sounding full, I just set the amp EQ flat (everything to 12 o clock). I have the Orange AD200 which really helps keep it simple in this respect. You could always stick an EQ pedal on the guitar effect loop to try and pick out the crunch a bit more. Also, never underestimate how much a fresh set of strings brightens up the tone :)

    +Alexander Wright have you ever tried the billy Sheehan bass pedal or the bass muff deluxe in any of these set ups?

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад

      +Dennis Mark I'd never even heard of the Billy Sheehan pedal until now but it looks like a very impressive and versatile little box! I've had the standard Bass Muff, and used it in my LS2 explanation video, but not for the Royal Blood stuff. The reason I'm not using bass overdrive / distortion / fuzz in this case is that the guitar distortions tend to filter out the lower frequencies, which helps the fake guitar signal sound less muddy and a bit more distinct from the bass.
      Hope that helps! :)

    • @ontheMark72
      @ontheMark72 9 лет назад +1

      +Alexander Wright Yes it does thanks very much for your videos!! a lot of work to help us out.. awesome. Now what I was looking for is to play bass and make it sound like there’s another guitarist peddling along with me on stage. Would that GTS Sansamp give me plenty of guitar sound w/ OD & Dist? or should I hook up another DS-1 or SD-1? I’m not really totally looking for the Royal Blood sound just making a 3 piece sound like a 4 piece. Suggestions?

    • @ontheMark72
      @ontheMark72 9 лет назад +1

      +Alexander Wright or even a guitar muff??

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад

      +Dennis Mark I think it's completely down to preference at this point - it's all about how you want the fake guitar to sound. Presuming you want to emulate a simple bass and rhythm guitarist combo (bass and guitar play the same thing), I think the GT2 gives enough control to shape the sound for what you're after, but so will other guitar distortions. I tried the Germanium 4 Big Muff to compare 2 amps to, so check out my comparison demo (playing Figure it Out). Aside from that, you might want to consider a harmoniser to add an extra 5th / octave into the mix so it sounds like the fake guitar is playing power chords...

    • @ontheMark72
      @ontheMark72 9 лет назад +1

      +Alexander Wright well as a bass player guitar effects are all new to me. I really appreciate your vids because it gave me a place to start. I wouldn’t have a clue! So right now I’ve got the GTS, POD mini, LS2, PS6 and an empty bank account haha. I also have a chorus pedal and a Voice Live play electric to somehow put into the mix. Thanks for your replies I appreciate you getting back to me and not ignoring my posts. It’s really hard to read every single comment on every video, even though I did read most of them to not ask something you already posted. My thing is now I have to figure out how to route everything. I have a vocal harmonizer with guitar effects like a flanger I can use too. Problem is I use it for singing so I can’t mute the guitar while I’m singing and playing bass because I use it to sing. All advice is appreciated. Thanks again.

    does the pog has a special voicing or can i also usa a TC Sub'N'Up for the octave up ?

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  7 лет назад

      No, anything that shifts the signal up an octave will do. The Sub N Up is a great choice. If you want cheaper, I found the Mooer Tender Octaver is virtually exactly the same as the POG

    because a tuner?

  • @mkfanforever58
    @mkfanforever58 9 лет назад +1

    I still don't really now what the amp sim does in this but do you think the Zoom B3 could work because it has amp sims in there?

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  9 лет назад +1

      mkfanforever58 all the GT2 does is emulate 3 different guitar amps, which you can set to have high levels of gain / overdrive. The reason I use this over a distortion pedal is that it makes the +1 octave signal sound more like a guitar. If the zoom B3 has guitar amps modelled in there, then by all means give it a go! To be honest, even if it doesn't I'm sure there will be additional EQ settings in there that will let you make it sound more like a guitar anyway.

  • @thedreamstation

    Thanks Alex it's a korg pitch black tuner stomp pedal.Is there a way to do this without the line selector pedal?

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  8 лет назад

      Ah good, then that will work :) It depends how you want your setup to work - if you want to use 2 amps, then you could get and octave pedal with 2 outputs (effect and clean) like in my early videos. I prefer using the ABY pedal instead though if you use 2 amps, so you don't even need the tuner. For output to 1 amp, the LS2 is the best way I have found, but you can split the signal (with the ABY or octave with 2 outputs) and then use a mixer of some kind. Have a look at my cheap setup with 1 amp video to see what I mean (should be suggested by youtube on the right seomwhere) .

  • @thedreamstation
    @thedreamstation 8 лет назад

    would this setup work with a korg chromatic tuner? It just has the input and out put. Your tuner has the bypass and output. Thanks

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  8 лет назад

      To be honest I don't know, but I don't think so - the chromatic tuner range isn't foot-switchable, and I don't know if it mutes the sound from the guitar when you turn it on? If it does, then it will work, but will be a pain to switch in the middle of a song. Something like the Korg Pitchblack will work though - but if you want a cheap stompable tuner, then the Behringer TU300 should work just fine :)

    Great !! What is your amp ? Normal Bass amp ? or others ... ?

    • @AlexanderWright
      @AlexanderWright  8 лет назад

      +Jasonic Newsted thanks :) in this video I'm using an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO III bass amp head and an Ashdown ABM 210T (2x10 with tweeter) cab. A keyboard amp might be more suited to the full range of sound frequencies, but I don't want to buy one! Also, a guitar amp wouldn't be able to handle the bass frequencies...
