    This was a very informative video. I am doing a mixed methods disertation and will be using NVIVO for the first time.

    These are great videos but the only problem is I don't have NVivo subscription after 1 day my trial is over😭😭

    So I set up my interviews in files and made cases and classifications...I coded in my file interviews, was I supposed to code in the cases? Is there a way to get my codes into them so that I can look up how many people from this location agree with...I really don't know what to do, do I have to start over? The company said there is a way to do it but no real elaboration...did anyone else do this?

      Hi Alex, yes you can add files to existing cases. It won't affect your existing coding, so you won't have to start again. Just right-click on the file and select 'Code>Code Whole Document', or just 'Code' in older versions and browse to the case you wish to add the file to and select the cases under the cases folder as shown in this screenshot: qdacloud.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi/Add%20to%20Case%20R1.png?ssid=d3ccace53fe64bb7a3804a4ca38eff57&openfolder=normal&ep=&_dc=1699306326079&fid=d3ccace53fe64bb7a3804a4ca38eff57 Do this for each file and your cases will then work perfectly in terms on matrices, cross tabs and visualisations.

    Hello, I am on a Mac. I am following all your steps and nothing is showing up in Cases nor Case Classification. I would like a 1:1, please advise. I have watched many videos on Cases and I yet to get my copy of NVivio to allow me to apply these videos.

      Hi Kelly, the video you watched is on Windows. The concept is the same on MAC, but the processes are a little different. I'm not sure if you are setting up one-to-one interviews, focus groups or surveys as cases. So, I've included a link below to 7 short videos that demonstrate the steps for all of these data types: qdatraining.com/understanding-and-applying-cases-and-classification-on-nvivo-for-mac/ Of course you can book private one-to-one sessions at this link: qdatraining.com/book-nvivo-online-one-to-one-training-now/#!/Online-1-to-1-Interactive-Training-per-hour/p/69131111/category=20387330If you wish to book, just change the quantity on checkout to whatever number of hours you feel you need to avail of. Once we receive the booking, we will arrange a suitable day and time to deliver the session(s). I hope this response is helpful, but do let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Hi Ben, just a quick question to you. What's happening to NCapture for Nvivo? It seems that it has become very difficult to capture Facebook and Twitter content as datasets using NCapture due to some API limitations or something. What's your take on the current functionality of NCapture for social media data?

    • @marialexhagen5130
      @marialexhagen5130 2 года назад

      Hi again, The problem with Twitter and NCapture seems to be mostly about retreiving Tweets for a hashtag that is older than 1-2 weeks.

    • @marialexhagen5130
      @marialexhagen5130 2 года назад

      ...and for Facebook I can't seem to get FB to authorize NCapture to retreiv anything as it tells me that the app is not configured and still under development and therefore I don't have access unless I'm a test user.

      @@marialexhagen5130 Hi Maria, First, make sure you have installed all updates within your NVivo release. As far as Facebook goes, if you just accept that message about the app being under development (I don't know why it comes up) you can authorise the app and capture away on Facebook. With regards to both Facebook and Twitter, remember, NCapture is governed by the application interface or API and the rules for what may, or may not be scraped are set by the site, not NCapture. I hope this response is helpful.

    Hi, thanks for the video, it's very helpful. I was wondering if you knew a way for survey responses to questions from an excel doc to display with their case attached to them rather than just the data location? Thank you :)

    • @qdatraining
      @qdatraining  Год назад +1

      Yes, just open the case and all the responses for the case will be there and can be coded, annotated etc from there: See screenshot: qdacloud.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi/all_survey_responses-per-case.png?ssid=1e7026369f364dec92c5dbb58bb3f0d5&openfolder=normal&ep=&_dc=1667987763921&fid=1e7026369f364dec92c5dbb58bb3f0d5

      @@qdatraining Thanks for this! My excel file contains all of my survey data but if I import it in as a whole file when I look at my codes it just says that say, the code for ‘negative opinions on water quality’ has 200 references in the survey, but I can’t figure out how to get it to tell me how many cases those 200 references are split across so I can see how many actual people are referencing this. Eg. to see how many people/cases who did the survey made reference to this code? It’s quite easy to count from the interviews because they’re divided by file anyway and display as such, but the survey is one big file so it’s harder to see a split by case. I hope this makes sense, thanks again for your help.

    • @arabethanlecuyer31
      @arabethanlecuyer31 Год назад

      I'm not too sure if to get it to display by case i would have to upload each survey response as a separate excel doc. As i have about 360 surveys i would rather avoid this if i can.

      @@arabethanlecuyer31 this information is easily available. You will need to understand static-sets (help-nv.qsrinternational.com/20/win/Content/files/sets.htm?Highlight=sets#StaticSets) and matrices (help-nv.qsrinternational.com/20/win/Content/queries/matrix-coding-query.htm?Highlight=matrix) and then you can produce the matrix in the screenshot which shows a series of open-ended questions and the number of cases behind them (drilling into each cell will show you the responses behind the numbers) qdacloud.myqnapcloud.com/share.cgi/Survey-responses_number_of_cases_per_response.png?ssid=59ff9fa228f64e7bb566562acfc3269d&openfolder=normal&ep=&_dc=1667999551169&fid=59ff9fa228f64e7bb566562acfc3269d. Hi, thanks for this vid. It was not helpful for me because you only ran through advanced stuff like importing classifications etc. I'd like to know how to just classify / attribute one file. I don't even have the language to tell you what I need to know here. I completely understand the concepts, but my (apparently) latest version of NVivo looks a little different, making it almost impossible to follow on. AS I say, good vid, but doesn't help me. thanks.

    • @qdatraining
      @qdatraining  Год назад +1

      From 11:30 to 12:40 in the video shows how to set up a single attribute for one or multiple files. You may have missed that piece. If your software looks different, you are not using the current version or are on a MAC. In either case, you need an instructional video for the version of NVivo you are using. You can find out which version you are using under 'Help->About NVivo'. I hope this response is helpful.
