- I arrive at Penn Station on the Long Island Railroad, and then walk Hell's Kitchen via 9th Avenue to 57th Street. This area is known for its many restaurants, traffic to the Lincoln Tunnel, and connections to public transportation.

Was born and raised in NY, mostly Hollis Queens. I’ve been living elsewhere for 40 years and your videos have made me fall back in love with my home city. Luv your work!
You're welcome, I really appreciate the kind words!
ActionKid you rode past my old block I grew up on when to rode from 179th st Jamaica to Jones Beach. 102 ave and Hollis Ave! Hollis4Life!
Off from work today so I can sit back an relax watch the whole video 😊😍
41 minutes is a luxury isn't it
Maybe you should think about cleaning the house.

Awesome katrice! One of the best ways to chill! :)
Hope you enjoyed it!
At 22:44 , I guess that lady did not want anyone to see her with that man ! Good work AK . Some people do not the world to see their secret rendezvous .
Thanks so much for taking everyone on a tour of the Hells Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan. You are a great contributor to sightseeing the many areas of NYC especially doing these times of traveling restrictions due to covid-19.
Hello Actionkid, good memories. Never stop making videos! 🗽👍🏻
Thanks, this is probaly one of the best videos I've ever seen. Thanks man.
Just love your films of the city❣️. And your narrative is truly enjoyable....clear speech...interesting content as you stroll along. You capture the “ one and only” New York atmosphere. Ninth ave and 57 th street was my home for many years....thank you for your effort and time to take us along with you.
Hey Ak, I’m glad you acknowledge the poor when you pass by on your way , and you always say it’s Sad but you can can give sometimes! maybe buy a sandwich or a box of Pizza give out some slices and water! Being sad is one thing but feeding someone is everything!
He does,,, he can't feed everyone.
Great footage and narration as always 👏 Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
So much food! I'm hungry just watching the video! Great video and walking location!. I had a great time watching this video and seeing the sights with you! 😀👍
Watching the guy in black pants and white shoes @1:20 come up and help that dude he don’t know with his luggage 🧳... It’s easy to be nice.
It is! Yet so many people don’t seem to know that.
Yeah, I went back to watch that again, people helping people, Awesome! . ☺️✌️🇺🇸
That was very sweet! 🙏🏽💜
So are you people that live in NYC have to wear mask out in the open and fresh air?
Such a nice display of kindness!
Thanks for the video man I’ve been watching these for a long time you’re the first person to talk that I’ve seen I’m definitely gonna watch more might even subscribe
Excellent walk! Thank you for sharing! I hope you have a very nice day!!
Great video Action Kid. Thank you for making theses videos.
Genuine thank you for your channel. I was born in NJ, 40 mins outside NYC, but now live in Pittsburgh PA. I do love NY so much but haven't been there since I was very young. Your videos are the equivalent travelling for this year and it means a lot to be able to see the world from my little lockdown :)
I looooove these video walks.....you do it the best by faaaar!❤️
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS. My wife and I ate at Yum Yum Too when we were in NYC last year after accidently coming across it on a rainy night. My daughter is going to NY in a few weeks and we wanted her to know where it was and how it looked. Your videos are great. They make me miss being there though i'm from the Bay Area so we have it pretty good here too. Keep up the great vids.
Great one ! Thanks for making alot of people's day, including mine!! 🏃✌🙏💙🗽
Hey ActionKid. Thanks for sharing your walking video of Hells Kitchen. I heard of Hells Kitchen due to the tv show but know I know the area thanks to you. Interesting and informative.
Hey, thanks for for the view of the east. Really nice to see NYC in good vibes in the midst of this, well you know. Love it!!! Howdy from far west Texas. 💖
That’s literally me skating to work @3:17 😂 I love it when I see stuff like this.
😲 10:40 B&H! Definitely visiting that store when I come visit. Thanks for sharing! 😀👍
Great video!!!

My ‘hood! And Vito’s pizza is excellent. One of the best in the Kitchen. Love your videos, man! Stay safe!
I’m a person from Connecticut often come to nyc by metro north from new haven Connecticut.
I like your narration. People like me actually listen and learn that massive hectic city. Fun👍🏾
Loved your video, thank you! :)
Great job again !!!😎😎😎
Thanks for video A.K. Good job :)
Awesome video!
You forgot to mention one origin of the name Hell's Kitchen. Back in the day two cops were on patrol and one said "This is Hell!" His partner said "No this Hell's Kitchen!" At one time the railroad also ran up the middle of 10th Ave. There was a guy who road up ahead with a flag warning folks the train was coming. The late Mario Puzo wrote a novel about it. Silvester Stallone was born here and there is a movie "Paradise Alley" about professional wrestling made in this area. Sly starred in it. There were also some RC churches that had masses in French and Flemish. Back in the 1950s/60s there was also a rumble in which some Puerto Ricans the area in restitution for wrongs done to them. It was in the press for quite awhile. Mickey Spillane( not the novellist ) was a notorious leader of the Westies. Ninth Ave doesn't look as if it's been "gentrified" but ....... As for the homeless and hopeless, this is a phenomenon that is plaguing many areas of the US and even Europe. Some of these people even have jobs but can't afford a dwelling. Anyway ... great film! I CAN'T BELIEVE THE PRICES!!!!! YIKES! DOUBLE YIKES! TRIPLE YIKES!!!!!!!!!
Action your videos are spectacular
Ima be in New York for the first time ever during December I hope you’re there so I could meet you to thank you for showing me NYC!

THANK YOU FOR THIS MOVIEVIDEO . MERCI VRAIMENT BEAUCOUP POUR CETTE VIDEO SUPER C'EST VRAIMENT FUN.
Thanks bro, very nice
The wife and I are staying on W40th St in Hell’s Kitchen on July 16th. We are walking the same route from Moynihan train station to get to the hotel. It was nice to see the route we will be taking. Thank you for posting.
I was out here this weekend. Several spots had live musicians and it was a great vibe but hard to get seated as they were full and had to close by 11pm
Thanks for doing these video. I was supposed to visit my NY family this fall and had to cancel due to the virus. So these videos are a nice substitute.
I read the reason this area was called Hell's Kitchen was due to the high crime rate back in the 1970's.
That's correct. The actual name of the neighborhood is Clinton.
WOW! What a difference a year makes! Was at Penn Station a year ago, coming into the city from NC (amtrak) to visit a friend. Normally so hard to navigate around with a suitcase b/c of the hustle & bustle of the people, looks quite easy now. The holidays will be quite interesting in NYC 🤔😷. I see you have a "fan" at that restaurant w/the 6 ft hero's, Lol!! 😁👍🏽
I'm from NC too. 😁
@@KP-vg3zn 👍🏽 Greensboro. My daughter lives in Raleigh
New York, New York what a place! Where I stay is so DEAD really!! Thank you Actionkid! 🤗🤗
that was my route to work when the cruise port at pier 88 was open great for walking, people watching, food and drink etc havent been there since march gotta make a run soon b4 it gets cold
you took me back to my vacation in 2k20 february. i ate 3 times at shortys!
In terms of dining, I agree that Restaurant Row is a better option. There are a lot of interesting restaurants on 9th Avenue, but I'll wait until they can do indoor dining. Thanks for the post, AK!
15:10 New Yuck City...
17:00 Driving the wrong way! 🤦
22:57 "Don't do that"... kind of you to blur her face even though she was in a public area...
I never visited the US. But thanks to you I get a glimpse of New York.
I've been trying to walk every day to relplace the exercise I used to get before WFH. Since it's hard to force myself to walk without a destination, I look for nice-looking street cafes, mostly places that serve breakfast.
B&H, love it ! ! !
I would like to thank you ,AK. This is the third trip i have taken with you. It is very kind and brave of you to let me see the City I love from the safety and comfort of my room.
Y'all hear that dopehead at 2:14 🤣😂
Thank you , I wanted to ask but thought everyone would wonder what I was talking about lol
More than likely he was just nuts.... lol
@@EphemeralProductions he clearly said "smoke dat shi erryday" 🤣
It gave me Kanye West vibes.😏
Very nice ❤️❤️❤️
Penn Station looks empty for late afternoon. I have not been there since February (to go to Great Neck). Last time I took the train to New Jersey was last Thanksgiving. Arriba, Arriba! was the Mexican restaurant at 50th Street. You were talking about the chain restaurants when you walked by Alfie's and Tacuba Mexican Cantina (which is doing a lot of outdoor business) from the corner of 53rd walking towards 52nd. Your camera captured the public litter basket problem -- overflow from reduced number of pickiups and people leaving large bags of garbage next to the baskets. Welcome to 9th Avenue, where the sidewalks are narrow and crowded with people.
When you get a chance, I hope you will do the other side of 9th Avenue, maybe from 58th on down to 42nd. Thanks. At 58th/57th there are the Flame diner, Le Masseria (good Italian), Terakawa (ramen), Burrito Box and Morningstar. Morningstar closes at 4pm and doesn't have outdoor tables. They only just re-opened on 9/30.
Im watching at 3:08am
Love your vids❤
I want to visit New York City in hopes of running into the Action Kid!😀
lov it!
Big hugs 🤗 from Bergamo /Italy
Penn station is HUGE! It actually reminds me of an airport! Damn. lol
"I guess Ill go this way"
Crazy person yelling
alright dude, alright

Be Careful In New York City
Try Not To Be Out After Dark
Always Watch Your Back and Be Alert
Enjoy !
I haven’t been in the city since March,i been staying in the suburbs for now...at least until they release the vaccine to the public some time next year. But from what i see in the video the Restaurant business will eventually recover what worries me a bit are the retail stores that have closed down or moved on specially the high end ones you used to see in Park Avenue, upper east side, etc. Lots of rich people have fled for other states without plans of coming back at all...that terrifies the heck out of me. NYC needs it’s wealthy tenants to come back,it all comes to state revenue, hotels need them too to survive...hopefully this great city will recover, i pray to god that it will.
Thing about your map. It doesn't show ( or plainly show ) beginning and ending. That would be very helpful
Went to nursing school back in the 70s, St. Clare's Hospital West 52nd and 9th. Lived in the student nurse dorms which now is a condo.
As I watch your Vlog I get the feeling I am watching a foreign country and this is not America....sure are a lot of restaurants, homeless people, lot's of people etc. So glad you know your way around. Be safe. Glad I could not smell all the smells you were smelling..lol!!
And where do you live
Can you please do a walk through Elmont, NY.
ActionKid, you need a bobble head in your merch!
Keep bringing NYC to us since we can’t travel
It's nice to see what the past summer was like. I never went out during the summer because I was in this abusive situation and I fell ill towards the end from the stress.
AJL. Please never let any jerk treat you badly. Been there done that. Appreciate yourself as the abuser was wrong you Are worthy. Screw the mean person.
9th Avenue has so many food spots, never knew that until last week
Inspired by you, I uploaded a NYC video yesterday, my first one :)
Empire is collapsing in real time. Epic.
Great series of NYC videos but I've only visited NYC two times; my first time and my last time. Not a place I want to live in though most of the people are quite nice. I'll take my home sweet home Chicago any time.
AK how many miles do you walk on one if these walks?
Interesting vehicle @ 6:04 Netscout Field Testing vehicle. They monitor and guard client company's digital networks. I guess with these vehicles they can analyze & triangulate threats near their security areas.
Love watching your vids, AK! Very nostalgic for me. Haven't lived in NYC in decades, but spent my "formative" pup years there! Definitely keep the neighborhood name Hell's Kitchen! I hate when the gentrifiers try to rename hoods to take the flavor away and make it sound bland and suburban! Also, gotta say, since you verbally note other cultural "communities" (little Manila, Chinatowns, etc) in your videos it would be remiss to have a 41 minute video on HK and not note that it is one of the main LGBTQ hubs of NYC!
I like the name Hell's Kitchen too. I remember the first time I heard someone call the neighborhood Hell's Kitchen, I was like "What's that?" Not "Where's that?" but "What's that?" Born, raised and still living in New York and never knew that section of Manhattan was called Hell's Kitchen.
You started on a AM track, Where did you travel from?
Do a walk through 38th ST
So is Ninth Avenue the main commercial thoroughfare Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan?.
They call it hell's kitchen because used to be a German restaurant called hells kitchen. Very famous. That's why the call the area after that restaurant.
What???
SINCE YOU DO ALL OF NEW YORK, DO YOUR PLACE WHERE YOU LEAVE INSIDE THAT IS?
Hey ActionKid how is the LIRR. Do you feel safe on it?
well done
Salut ,tu n'as pas parlé du restaurant Marseille 24.57 ville où je vis en France lol
Thanks.
Your Gimbal seems stiff ,anyway happy walking!!
lol new intro for u now:wassup boisssasssssssssss
My dad used to walk at Amtrak a long time ago
It's nice to see New York City in front of the laptop.
I was told the weekend Hell's Kitchen Fleamarket (9th Ave - W39st Street) no longer excist/permanend closed.....Is that true ???
Ruud Mulder NYC-fan The Netherlands
True. Entire neighborhood being developed as an offshoot of Hudson Yards. Its sad. Even the 'Mom and Pops' in this video will be gone soon.
5:52 you can see that the ESB crown is half way through being cleaned and renovated
This is the area I am most familiar with. Also I always thought the Restaurant Row is on 56th street between 5th and 6th avenue (at least traditionally?)
There are still a few restaurants on that block--- more expensive than these near 9th
My neighborhood! I was looking for myself but no luck
Hello there! :) Hell's kitchen is the name of a NYC area? I thought it was a TV show! I'm from Portugal. Best regards
I actually work nearby in Hell's Kitchen. I have to admit, I don't miss seeing the people of that neighborhood. I enjoy working from home.
and who are the "people" of that neighborhood that you dislike seeing so much?
Theres clearly a problem....those streets are always full it looks about 10% of what it normally is
I lived on 53rd and 9th from 89 to 93 and went to PS 111 down the street. My how things have changed.
Not sure where I read this, but the story I’ve always thought gave the nickname was when HK was really bad years ago two officers we’re working the area and one officer said this place is hell. The other officer said this place isn’t hell, it’s like Hell’s Kitchen. Not sure if that’s accurate or not.
I have never been to New York and hope to visit one day.
Its very cool
