- A SPECTACULAR WALK from MONT ALBAN to VILLEFRANCHE in 4K. INSIDER GUIDE. History walk, Nice France. On this week's walk I've uncovered the story of the Ruined Belle Époque Villa Beau Site, taken a drone flight over Elton John's villa, looked at why the Americans have such a strong bond with Villefranche and revealed what happened when Noel Coward brought Greta Garbo to the Cocteau Chapel.

Lovely views and lots of interesting info. Thanks Tim. Are you planning on doing a walk in Cannes?
Yes at some stage we will. Any ideas appreciated!
@@MeandMonAmi Le Suquet, perhaps the islands as previously suggested? Let me know if and when, love to meet you and Mr Boo.
wonderful and I am enjoying all the videos (just spent two weeks in VF) - we go every Easter time but to be honest I never knew what was around me until now:)
Thanks Owen. So glad you are enjoying!
Nice, the two red chairs at the end of the video were originally blue ,azur, and were always scattered along the promenade des englais in the 80s
Interesting that they were red originally.
I stil find something year's old which i have missed...
There are quite a few walks. Ten I think
Can you please give me the correct spelling of Paul and Giselle’s last name? Thanks
Tissier
Great Vlog Tim!! Thanks! I love hearing all the interesting stories and seeing all the beautiful place!!
Thanks Maureen!
Fantastic Tim
Your descriptions of the history of the area make it all the more enjoyable well done 🤘
Think John described his style of painting as tattooing.
All the best
Brian
Thanks Brian. I like ‘tattooing’!
Hi Tim, many thanks for all your videos and information on this wonderful area. We’ve learnt a lot, and the sights of Villefranche kept us dreaming over the winter lock downs. Glad to say we’ve just escaped uk to revisit our favourite place for a few days. Trying out some your walks.
Carry on posting and Best Wishes.
Excellent! And thanks for letting me know. Enjoy…
Thanks Tim. I love hearing about the history plus the seeing the spectacular views. Looking forward to the next walk 😃
Thanks Vanessa
What a lovely video. That coastline is really stunning! The views are truly incredible. That old villa looked amazing. What a shame to see it in such a state. Did I see a sign that said it’s being restored?
Thanks Andy. There’s a plan I think. It’s on the market for 8 million with permissions( I think )but the restoration will cost a lot.. I kind of wish it could be preserved as it is and opened to the public as a kind of Denis Severs house.
What a delight your filming is, there is nothing as wonderful as an aristocratic wreck of a French villa with such an artistic history to get the Artistic juices flowing, you have cracked it again I look forward to viewing your offerings ..always Thank-You,Merci beaucoup Indeed! PS the Riviera cliff drops into the azure seas are just beautiful.
Thanks Sarah. There is a plan to restore it but there has been a plan for a decade as far as I can see. Maybe it’s better as it is?
@@MeandMonAmi The way it is is completely charming. But some restoration is unfortunately needed I fear!
At my first visit to the Cocteau Chapel I confused him with Costeau. It was my first month in France. For many years I acclaimed to all my friends visiting how wonderful that this man could paint and film under the sea.
Another more than excellent video.
That’s funny. The wonderful underwater world of Jacques Cocteau!
Ps thanks!
Loved the vlog again.hope you go past my sisters villa wen you go through cape ferrat on the next one 😉😉
Thanks Gary. What road is she on?
@@MeandMonAmi du General de gaulle /down past the old zoo just before the corner going towards the light house...
Wonderful video! I liked the unhurried pace, too.
Thanks James. Me too. (Though I was worried people would want me to crack on..)
Tim, these walks are fabulous - so many great memories. Thanks 🙏
Thanks Fran. So glad you are enjoying
Excellent job you are getting better by the day.
Thanks Brutus. I’m trying!
Fantastic,,thank for sharing 👍😍
Thanks Iphank
Done versions of this walk many times, but never could work out the difference between Mont Alban and Mont Boron. All seem to be the same to me.
I know what you mean. I’d say the fort area is mont Alban and below that where more houses are on both sides of the mountain is Mont Boron
This was utterly brilliant Tim! Love the history and atmosphere of it there! You are great at narrative and make a great host! Keep up the excellent walks and facts! While it’s grey, cold and wet here in Blighty, this is a welcome dose of sharp light, gorgeous homes and blue sea!
Thanks Richie. Glad you enjoyed. I want to do some more like this is the new year. We have plans. We always have plans!;
Well, did you ever get to meet Elton or David?
Great work 😀
Thanks Geir
