While u r there, yes completely clean every thing. Lube for the engine parts is not high temp grease. It is engine assembly oil and should be used liberally on all interference metal to metal surfaces like pistons, piston rings, etc. The 550 engine has a few areas where silicone sealer is called for during assembly but not much, 1 or 2 bolts by memory. Happy wrenching.
@@mmuller199 Mmm if you mean carbon from piston tops, Chemdip works great. Also any 3M plastic wheel could be used without damaging the aluminum. Using Chemdip means piston removal to submerge the part in the chemical. It removes all and any carbon deposits if soaked long enough. Don't let solvent drip onto mating or bearing surfaces as this will dissolve any protective lubricant. Happy wrenching!
I would sell and ship. $125 + actual shipping from WI USA to Germany. Send a proper address and I will get a total price. You address will not be posted here. R
i know its a long shot seeing as this was posted in 2016 but does anyone know where to get a master rebuild kit for the 1980 kz550 A? i looked all over and cant find a kit anywhere.
I am not sure what you mean by a "master rebuild kit". You can still buy all the parts from Kawasaki or many aftermarket suppliers. www.z1enterprises.com is a great site. For many parts you will want the Kawasaki parts. I would not substitute aftermarket seals and gaskets. In terms of rebuild, I have know idea if you mean carbs, bottom end, top end, valves, etc. You may even need machine shop work if the bike is really worn or damaged. If you do not have a real Kawasaki shop manual, get one. I have a 550A one around here somewhere you could have cheap. Essentially you need to verify every part you want/need and order the parts. Master gasket and seal sets usually suck, get the real manufacturer parts. Good luck.
@@WisconsinTroutFishing i have found many full gasket sets but im basically wanting to overhaul the engine and do a full bottom/top end rebuild ill check z1enterprises again but last time i checked i couldnt find much

Thanks you’ve done a great job.

Pretty sure I still have it. 35$ includes shipping and u can have it. PayPal to me at rrsmsw@hotmail.com.
Do you have a video putting the cam and adjusting the timing? The missing end of the video?
Mmm I do have that. If it's not posted I will look for it. Which model are u interested in?
Did you find it necessary to clean the carbon off the pistons? And is that just regular high temp grease you put on the piston sleeves?
