Value is very hard to explain. It's worth what someone is willing to pay. It's not worth 8 or 10 million. Maybe the construction and the lots cost that much, but now with the location and the houses prestige, it's worth much more. That's called a great investment.

So they let the customer decide what they want and the Art gallary is an empty space so you could build an cinema/gym pretty easy there. And the target audience probably doesnt mind spending one million more to get a space that fits their needs perfectly. Especially when its reasonable priced at 40m

to be fair, pools can actually act as dampers for earthquakes. I'm not sure how effective it would be on a house this size though as they're often used in high rise buildings, that or a large weight that is able to slide.

to be fair, pools can actually act as dampers for earthquakes. I'm not sure how effective it would be on a house this size though as they're often used in high rise buildings, that or a large weight that is able to slide.

First off: It's beautiful and I love that it's LEED platinum. Buuuut, I see a lot of points of potential failure. If you have $40M to drop on the house, they'll have to hire a facilities manager to make sure all the systems are up and working constantly. Reclaimed water systems, DMX theatrical lighting, a cantilevered infinity edge pool fed with treated water, the car 'Lazy Susan'... maintenance yikes.
