Must have been awesome to witness the birth of them. Small intimate club setting. Always been envious of people that got to see awesome bands when they were first starting out. I’m finally going to see Tool in January, can’t wait! Saw APC open for NIN in 2000 in Houston, but never got my chance to see Tool
In 1993 I left the 1st stage at Lollapalooza, to see Tool perform on the 2nd stage..............probably the best decision I ever made.....HAHA. Guy who introduced them said "Are you ready to see the best band on earth", they didn't disappoint that day.
That's exactly how I discovered Tool!!LOL it was the show in Detroit and a guy had came up to us and told us to go check out the second stage he had seen lala in Chicago and said these next two bands on stage 2 you don't want to miss so we moseyed on over and it was rage against the machine and Tool! And I couldn't tell enough people about them the next day. I remember the hair standing up on my arms in the back of my neck when he started screaming the fear and awe that I experienced with those jet black eyes 5 ft away in the intensity that was shooting off of him like energy into the crowd it was electric and that's not an exaggeration I think everyone was feeling it it's a day in my life I will never forget I call it one of the best days of my life. And I'm not being dramatic saying it it truly is and has been one of my life's greatest pleasures seeing them live and getting new stuff from them. Unfortunately there hasn't been nearly enough released I've been dying for a live album DVD etc a box set of old stuff like this because people just don't understand seeing tool live now compared to how it was back in 2000 and before. I'm glad for him that he exercised his demons out of him but that intensity was something to behold
My friends and I only heard of TOOL a couple months before lala in Chicago 93’. The best band to ever grace a 2nd stage!! Changed my life seeing them and RATM and Primus and Alice!!
It's like they had the confidence that they would fill stadiums one day. It would be hard to play with that much confidence in small room as a unknown band.
Saw them shortly after this, at 2nd yr LOLLAPALOOZA, Shoreline Amphitheater, Bay Area, Northern California. They murdered the SAME SET, and they caught me~ hook, line & sinker. I vividly recall seein this transcendent DemonElf, a few feet in front of me, morphing from 5.5 ft to 10 ft Tall, while thunderously belting out a 1/2 minute roar, while holding the note. They never looked back; and from that exact moment, I became obsessed.
This is awesome. It is the beginnings of what might be. It's a call to pay attention. It's a punk rock awesomeness. It's a new way to be yourself and not care. I'm one of Tools biggest fans for Maynard alone first and then the others, and the Music, wow. The drumming ???? Holy Hell!! This, Opiate, is one of the best albums. Once you understand it is live, you can feel the energy and the tightness of the band right away. I am very proud of this band. Terrifying is what the news called this and obviously they don't "get it". They probably listen to Lionel Richie. But, for rock fans, and now, Fear Inoculum, so cool. I can't say enough good things about this band and I am glad I found out about them when I did. It's been a fun time listening to them and going to their concerts when I can.
think about it. Your strong hand should be the one doing the fretwork, not the one holding the pick. Rik Emmett from Triumph is also a lefty who plays right handed

nah it's right there at 8:32 it's always been there. he was born with it.
@@mustardcustard9381😂😂😂
I really love his voice when he sings
I saw them open for 2 nights for The Rollins Band in Atlanta. Blown away! Understatement
Mark Still not with that music, it wouldn’t.
@@johnlemay5501 Yet they did.
Shall we all chip in and buy Adam a new guitar?
Well shit if that's the case, I think slash needs a new tophat
It’s okay guize I gave him a Flying V, we’re all good now
Paul with the Ovation Magnum bass!
This should be trending by now
waw underrated live video befor first EP Opiate.. thnk you for share this man
This band just dethroned Taylor Swift.
4 50 yr old men knocking off the princess is priceless
@@paulwade1473 I just heard she was painted over in a mural in Nashville. Poor Taytay.
would have loved to have been at that show. great intensity. thx for uploading this.
It's not OG until you see a VHS flicker where the tape gets twisted in the recorder.
Adam Jones is left-handed. Playing a right-handed guitar. I have been a fan since high school and just found this out.
think about it. Your strong hand should be the one doing the fretwork, not the one holding the pick.
Rik Emmett from Triumph is also a lefty who plays right handed
@@Tumbleweed_TxIt’s really not that simple. The right hand with guitar playing for right-handed people is dominant, actual force…hence…yeah… Rhythm…
Imagine being able to time travel and meet them at that age.
i thought i was the only one! would literally be the best
Once we figure it out, this is my first stop. Look for me.
I would travel back, find El Jefe, and say "In a few decades I will walk into your wine tasting room and ask to taste a pickle"
Really!
Just realized
Tool sounds phenomenal live
their albums just pale in comparison to their live performances.
And this has been a fact since tool's inception.
Tool fanatic myself, wow they've come a long way. Seen 2 concerts and they were awesome
They have come a long way since then, there shows today are huge
That mic was not ready for him whatsoever
Danny on fire 🔥 🔥🔥🔥
This video has the quality of my recording equipment.
Angry Maynard was a man with nothing to lose in his singing. We all gained in that moment
How wildly different this is than their concerts today. Holy fuck!
That closeup during Sober😱😱
Like a demented Peter Gabriel in his Genesis days!
This was right after the Great MOTHERSHIP Drop Off.... He is coming to form
6:13 Tracking, we meet again. Been a long time, friend.
what a pure anger that never been touched
Trent Reznor...
Jason Dubya-DEEZNUTS Henry Rollins wasn’t a good vocalist though.
@matt matt Did he fuck up the lyrics to Sober, or were the lyrics still a work in progress? This was 3 years before Undertow was released - heck, their Opiate EP hadn't even been released yet. Don't be a casual.

Real and Raw. Man you can feel that energy just burning and pulsating. Live it
1:59 why it's so funny 😂😂😂😂😂 sounds like Tom Scream
LOL the dude with the hugeass camcorder........no iphones back then........poor bugger lol
looking at the runtime, I thought they'd only play one song
That stage presence! ugh I miss this era.
