At least in elden ring the two types of magic are so robust that you can have multiple builds within each category. You could build around dragon incantations, carian sorcery, crystal sorcery, holy/lightning, etc.

it's just a shame that there's a total of 1 INT/FTH weapon to use for the stat distribution, outside of just sticking to one stat, and going for NG+ or high level stuff. I really enjoyed that the convergence mod added INT/FTH scaling to death/magma/golden stuff, giving them better synergy with the spell requirements. I'm hoping that Shadow of the Erdtree could maybe give us INT/FTH lovers some more tools to mess around with.
Elden Ring missed an opportunity to bring back Hexes as a new form of magic. Hexes are one of the main reasons I come back to DS2 - they are insanely fun.
are they actually? I never really enjoyed the dual style of both int and faith but maybe I'll give it a try. I also didn't enjoy the idea of spending souls for my damage but I suppose at some point it just doesn't matter anymore.
Hey man I just wanna say thank you for single-handedly inspiring me to pick up DS2 again- it’s refreshing to see someone who actually likes this game besides myself
fun fact, those 2 invaders outside the rottens boss room are 2 different guys, woodland child victor and gully. you can actually get invaded by both at the same time if you have a co-op phantom with you including the npc phantoms.
The dark orb didn't make the lizard slow, it was the special property of hexes in action: every time a hex hits something, it takes away some stamina, enemies in this game don't use stamina tho so their behavior becomes a bit janky when they lose all of it lol. Spells, hexes, miracles and pyromancies do extra damage when you land headshots with them. Npc invader in the gutter took big damage because you had the high ground and all the orbs were hitting her in the head. I sometimes walk around with binoculars trying to land headshots with sunlight spears, crystal soul spears :) Although big boss enemies are excluded from this afaik. Also, Dead Again is the spell to destroy the skeleton lords, worms in Gutter drop the spell if you want to get it before the boss. It is very satisfying to blow them all up.
I really enjoy your videos man, the editing is done so well. You explain everything so well and at a fast pace. Easily one of if not the best souls youtuber. Thanks for all the content.
Bro has anybody tried powerstancing majestic great sword in the left hand with another great sword in right hand ?? It does a super crazy Michael Jordan dunk attack and it’s insane. I’ve never seen it before and I just about shit myself when my character jumped 20 feet in the air and back flipped onto an enemy
You should try the Pilgrim's Spontoon. It pretty much requires the clear bluestone +2 to use, but it opens up a lot of options for hybrid builds. In PVP I would use the spontoon in my left and a sacred chime hammer in my right. The hammer rolling R1 actually causes double stunlock in conjunction with the spontoon's L1s, then you can follow that up with a quick hex. Choose whatever hexes you prefer to control space like darkstorm, lifedrain patch etc. or do silly stuff like casting affinity and the chime hammer's special two hand R2 affinity at the same time.
Proper hexes deserve to come back. Elden Ring's death sorceries just don't cut it. I also feel like there's _huge_ untapped potential in using Souls as a damage scaler. DMC5 has a really fun weapon (the hat) that basically does that: use Red Orbs (that series' version of souls) as a resource for dealing damage. Except it also lets you _generate_ crazy amounts of orbs if you know how to use it, which I feel could be really fun & satisfying in a Soulsborne game.
If your going to do a pyro build u should save the armor guy (forgot his name[forgetable af]) so after defeating the lost sinner u can buy the penal cuffs from him which buffs pyro mancies.
Are you talking about the Crypt Blacksword UGS? Going to require a huge Str investment for a Hexer who’s already investing heavily into Int/Faith. Crypt BlackSword has a 40 Str req.
Damnit… you make me want to replay this game. My first playthrough also was a hex build, but I started with cleric for lightning fun, before going hexes. I looooved the great sword you get from the special rotten sword. My dumbass didn’t understand adaptability, or rather, didn’t respect it, so I had a bad time when I couldn’t just blast enemies lol.
The build I settled on was max out climax casts, and farmed souls of great heroes to ‘reload’ the climax, so I could just fire that off over and over. Most people can’t survive two even through Havel Shield. The ultimate parry punisher.
So this guide is definitely for people who have already played the game right lol I wanted to make my first run of DS2 a Hex build but I'm having a hard time following what the pickups are and where to get them with how fast the text is mashed and the video is cut lol

Hexes are so busted, they really make the game a breeze with the right loadout. Think the early one that reduces defence only works on physical defence but I could be wrong. Good video anyways, was nice to see the Basilisk campfire buddy doing what he does best. Not sure if it's your kind of challenge run but forcing yourself to get past the Shrine of Winter to make Aava the first boss is a weird one, basically planning routes to efficiently genocide everything up til then. Can't use ascetics either since you need to kill a boss to use them. It's not exactly hard, just a matter of planning and logistics. Also having to redo an entire run if one of the Pursuers in things betwixt despawns and refuses to come back.
