I have just stripped a Seiko 6309 for my first time ever thanks to this video. It was scary but not as bad as I thought. It is so much smaller than it seems in videos. Putting it back together will be the test. It's been a good learning curve though. Thanks for your video 👍.

PUT IT "WORKING" without a professional service your damaging it, after sometime your watch will be garbage, it will never workanymore with precision-

Great work and video. One piece of advice, ditch the kitchen towel, it’s shedding fibres and doesn’t give you a stable surface for doing things like oiling jewels. Master watchmaker George Daniels used a sheet of Bristol paper, but just normal A4 would be better than the towel.

This was the same movement I finished up last week on 1985 diver. It was advertised as a 21 jewel, and i was a little disappointed when i opened it up for the first time...but it was an early purchase in my repair journey and i didnt really know what i was looking at. It was a great rebuild however, and...someone mentioned a timegrapher app, i have one on my phone and love it...the watch is running in the minus 10sec/day range. Ordered some new gaskets for it, and its my daily driver.

Same man, it's odd how when youre on a journey you feel you're doing a great job, but then looking back you realise what mistakes and errors you were making!
Excellent stuff, I'm gonna have to look up this app I think...

    Very attractive and fascinating watch.
With the green, sharp hour markers.
Good work - but should sand and polish up the case.
    It's missing ..
And restore, polish and use the bracelet. Its that det watch is best looking whit.

I heard somewhere a “bridge” is secured, or screwed down, at both ends. A “cock” is only secured at one end.

Tidy rebuild there, looks amazing now with a bit of tlc, I do recommend the app for checking the watch after a rebuild it’s so easy to use and only needs a pair of earbuds with a microphone on them to listen to the watch and hey presto you have a timer graph and tbh it’s invaluable once you start using it. Hope to see more watch builds you have good narrating skills and well documented footage. 👏😉🍻

Men and children sitting barefoot on the ground make these “Seiko” watches mainly from parts taken out of many other old Seiko watches and they use face plates that are made in India that they think looks groovy but for the most part Indian face plates are very colorful and not that very pleaseing to look at by pretty much the rest of the world.

Mumbai Special no chance at all that face is from the factory. It’s a good bet that back plate is from a different watch, who knows what the history is of the individual parts. The Indian watch makers do not know how to service the movement, they merely take movements that seem to work’ish and use them in their builds.

Actually, while you did have more oil than needed, an old watchmaker told me more damage is done to watches by folks that under-oil them. Another tip, try using a razor blade instead of a knife to remove the bezel. BTW, did you count the jewels to see if there were 21?
