Finally. Thank you for calling out the fashion industry that is forcing cropped pants on all of us this season. As many of us suspected and you state - cropped pants are a way to cheap out, and they are everywhere. Grrrrr.
My main issue with pants is styling them so that my slight belly bulge is not accentuated when I’m bloated. Zippers over the belly can cause issues if they don’t lay flat. Also, I’m 5’7” and relatively slim so I can look like I’m all legs with really high waisted pants. Not a fan of cropped pants and the chopped up silhouette they create. My version of cropped is slightly above my ankle. Love the wide leg pants with exactly the characteristics you mentioned. Such a fun change. You didn’t cover barrel shape. I like the very tapered version. I’ve been enjoying the slim refined stretch cargo pants from Banana Republic. They don’t market them as barrel style, but they are slightly larger in the thighs and narrower at the ankle. They are too cropped for my taste, so I bought the tall. They are some of my favorite pants and so comfortable!
So much good advice! I prefer wide legs that are softer--stiff wide leg jeans make me look like I'm wearing cardboard tubes. I don't think the current square toe mary jane shoes help with elongating the leg line.
@@NadaManley lantern pants are my best look. I want high quality, so I shop mostly Eileen Fisher. I used to buy Talbots Hollywood waist pants, but they no longer have them. I was just at Dillards and saw an amazing pair of Free People jeans. $150, but I had to buy them! Very funky, lol. Barrel shape, which is pretty much like lantern pants. 😂 I usually buy Agolde jeans on ebay. As long as I have measurements, it works well. I turned 70 this week.
I so agree that, at least for me, a high rise is BEST. I can wear other rises, but, it just ain't as good! And I want to look my BEST - Always! Thank you so much for pointing out that companies/brands are cutting corners (in SO many ways) and trying to tell us its design! Ding, ding, ding! Like, don't tell me a bag is a style! My favorite jeans are AG Deven (high rise wide leg), and Rag & Bone Ruth (high rise ultra wide leg).
I have 2 pairs of linen wide leg cropped pants with elastic waist. I know, bad choice but I need to style them and would like some options in addition to tucking in a top
I have been living in my linen wide leg cropped pants. I love them, comfortable and stylish. I am 5'8 so that probably helps, but I won't be without them.
I need high waist pants with shorter inseams and elastic waist as i have a ... 1) high waist 2 inches above my belly button 2) deep crutch and therefor only 27 inches on inseams for flat shoes although i have equal long legs and torso. 3) wider waist in comparison to my hips
My pants problem is virtually none of them are slim enough in the thighs. If I could afford $300 I could probably find some. Also, I have no hips, so a lot of pants and leggings keep sliding down.
Great video. At 5'4.5 i have long legs. I like cropped wide leg. As for high waisted wide leg pleated, i went up a size and will have them tailored. I bought talbots Weston pants in Red and a dark fuchsia or pink. Knew they were too big but wantef a perfect fit. I was surprised that you didnt mention Barrel leg. Have some from BR. They are odd in my opinion. Cant make myself love them.
What's your biggest problem with pants! I share some strategies for looking your best in pants, plus the 3 most popular and problematic styles in stores right now!
THANK YOU NADA!! I have a 32 inch inside leg and for years +++ I have had loads of issues with pants as a 29inch inseam hit at that horrid length now the manufacturers are trying to dupe everyone else! Personally I love long wide pants in cotton or linen really comfortable (I am short waisted and top heavy / inverted triangle) and very cooling. Great video xxx
Your honesty is just fabulous. I just found your channel and am obsessed already. Thank you. You are speaking "real woman" fashionable dressing.
Love that you show real people in different shapes to make your point!! I feel more confident shopping for pants now❤..thanks
Thank you so much for the comment!
Good advice😊
Thank you! I appreciate the comment!
Love your rant about cropped pants! My sentiments exactly.
At 5’ tall, biggest problem is in the rise. Best petite pants I ever had were from Talbots.
I've given up on petites. I'm 5'2" and her in Canada, petite means fat. I am under 100 pounds......
Knowing my inseem have helped me a lot. Also, I buy a lot of ankle pants. They are full length on me.

lol cardboard tubes!! I know what you mean 😂
You say crop, I say high waters.
lol!
In my opinion, cropped pants of any kind are a scourge on woman kind.
I know what looks good on me, the challenge is to find it!
Finding it is definitely the challenge. Let me know if I can help you find something in particular.

Hey Nada! Just one question about pleated trousers. with a little tummy is it better to have the pleats folded inwards or outwards?
Inwards! Great question! And thanks for the comment

I don’t like cropped pants At ALL!! They always look like the pants are too short. Buy normal pants! lol. This may just be me.
Cropped or hi water pants are ridiculous! They were silly back in the day and silly looking now! Not happening over here! What a waste of money!
I am 5’8” with a 34” inseam. I have always struggled with length and so not like the current trend of pants being the awkward length.
High rise is best for me.
That’s so important to know. Thanks for the comment!

Just tucked in my shirt😂
I am 5’7 but have thick thighs and find wide leg pants make me look huge. Are there any brands you recommend for fully figures.

I like barrel shaped jeans. It is an interesting silhouette but not extreme, , pausing my straight jeans for now.
I was looking at pleated shorts but kind of afraid of those.
CLOSET PLEASE ❤
that tan suit is so so cute
As a shorter person something I found helps with wide leg pants is to iron a crease down centre front and back. It kind of adds vertical lines.
