- Hellooo, this was very rushed but i wanted to make it in honour of Jessica Lange's Emmy nomination today for her portrayal of Joan Crawford in FX's Feud.
Thanks for watching, hope its okay. Have a nice day.
Song: Saying Myself - Hogu Love OST
Physically there were stark differences but she nailed the essence of Joan Crawford - that's for Damn sure... so mission accomplished Jessica!
I think the biggest difference was Jessica's dark eyes vs. Joan's famous ice blue ones. But yeah, Jessie nailed it.
Yes. She captured who Joan was, which is far more difficult than capturing what she looked like.
jess made me fall in love with joan
this made me cry 😭

Did you have a tissue 4 you're tears
Magnificent. Lange channels the empathy necessary to capture the multi-dimensional complexities of Crawford. She was, after all, human.
I agree
May she rest in peace. She was the Queen of Hollywood
Jessica Lange made Miss Crawford a human being again. Nobody´s perfect, but Joan was a Star and it´s so sad when a book or a one side performance like Faye did, turn a person into a grotesque caricature.
steveaustin1977 Faye didn’t make her a caricature, Faye showed the reality of an alcoholic bipolar narcissist, conveying the inherent traits of such a personality which aligned with reports not just from Christina but others too such as Lana Turner. Just because Faye portrayed the unstable monstrosity of Joan’s rage it doesn’t make it any less empathetic than Lange’s
Weepy and winsome Joan.
Messylin Faye gave a memorable performance and in turn the movie made Joan a grotesque caricature. She herself admits it shouldn’t have been made. Being compared to Jessica’s humane and tortured soul Joan..it most definitely makes it more empathetic.
Faye's Joan was humane and tortured, you obviously didn't watch the whole movie just various clips@@juliettecarter1786
Messylin Oh no. I’ve most definitely watched it through and through. Plenty of times...perhaps you should reread my previous comment.
@@DeepScreenAnalysis ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!!!!
I honestly didn't know much about Joan Crawford until I watched Feud. Joan was not only a beautiful woman but an amazing actress as well and Jessica Lange made complete justice to her role as Joan. Jessica was simply incredible. One great actress playing another. Couldn't get better than that.
RIP Joan. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
What a beautiful tribute to both actresses. I hope Joan is out there somewhere and saw her legacy being honoured after years of ridicule.
I've loved Crawford since childhood... Jessica, she blew me away! I now love Jessica as well
About Jessica and Joan: it takes a star to portrait another.
Thank you for making this tribute!! Jessica Lange was the best Joan Crawford. I wish Joan was here to see this. ❤️
Corey Ristic so true. She portrayed joan as a human and not like a monster. Hope jessica will win the emmy
Corey Ristic I do as well.
Jessica Lange‘s work always hits me in the feels, anyone who says she wasn’t like Joan isn’t seeing Joan as a person at all she’s very much like her in both voice and mannerisms and she was extremely close to how Joan was especially around those years. Beautiful tribute
This is a very moving loving tribute to Joan and Jessica as well. Beautiful! And as much as I enjoyed the work of boyh Sarandon and Lange, I do hope Jessica wins the Emmy because unfortunately Joan's image and reputation as been ruined and sullied. She brought respect, grace and nuance to the role of Joan Crawford. Maybe that will remind people that she was a person, not a caracature. This video does the same.
It's going to be a tight race because Nicole Kidman got nominated too. I do hope the honor goes to Jessica or Susan though and the show itself wins.
Thats true. I will go an admit that I am biased and I want either Jessica or Susan to win but mostly Jessica :) I'm hoping that since Ryan's OJ American Crime swept last year, Feud will do the same this year!
Couldn't agree more. Her story of absolute persistence and work to achieve and to be something greater than her life circumstances is inspiring and that alone, if for nothing else, should be commended.
Completely agree with you. This story showed just how lonely and sad Joan was. She felt she couldn't be anyone but this image she created. Sadly she is only remembered now because of her daughter's horrible book. I gave it more credit than I should have. But let's see Christina is going to do a now 30th anniversary printing after a 20th anniversary printing and then after the initial printing. For someone that hates her mother so much, she sure has made a nice living off her as she continues to re-hash her one sided story again and again and getting paid each time she does it.. It is a shame that Joan was not around to give her side. It is a very bad habit to blindly believe one side in anything.
Christina Crawford actually helped a lot of people deal with abuse and opened up talks about it. Yes, it's a horrible book because it details things nobody wants to think of someone they look up to. I am a huge Joan fan, but I can also see her faults in life. I don't believe Christina was a saint growing up either, though. They had a rough relationship and never found closure. That's the saddest part.
I had to work my way through a lot of great actors' performances before i found my absolute favourite female pin up who is Joan Crawford. She is just an adorable human being.And i am only recently discovering her legacy;
BOOM! Like Toni Morrison said, everyone's story can be told lovingly...
Gosh i cried so much in the last episodes, i really wanted to go back and give a hug to Joan, and another to Jessica!
Crawford came from dire poverty and nobody I can think of did such a superb job in manufacturing them self such as she did from being Lucille LeSueur into Joan Crawford. She must have had the ambition of 5 people and an excellent learning capacity. Her beautifully modulated speaking voice alone (beginning in early talkies) was a miraculous accomplishment for a little girl from San Antonio. She deserved an A+ for being the ultimate female movie star of Hollywood's Golden Age.
Great observation. She was an abused child set up to fail in life. The odds stacked against her.
Jessica Lange's performance brought out the poignancy of Miss Crawford's life that we've been missing because of a book written by a spiteful daughter. I'm so glad Feud was made. One of the best things ever produced for television.
Excellent upload. Thank you.
I still love this after 2 yrs
She’s a legend, I mean both of them Jessica and Joan
Dearest Yanisa,
You have created something beautiful. I loved LOVED! hearing Joan's voice, you truly are talented in this art form. I've seen your other videos and they all are as unique as you are.
I am reminded that the word HOLLYWOOD still means something, not just to someone but to many. I know Joan Crawford will never die.
They are perfect ..Jessica and Joan, both of them are wonderful, talented and powerful.
Thank you for this great video 💐
I’ll always love Joan Crawford 💜
Jessica is impeccable...and a legend.
The legendary Jessica Lange played the legendary Joan Crawford....Two of the most marvellous actresses the world has ever known....
I'm in tears. Thank you for this!
Thank you secondhandroses for this wonderful profil and uploads! Joan deserves it!
Jessica did such a great job with her Interpretation of that 'Mid Atlantic kinda Britishesque-like American accent' that was common during the movie stars of old Hollywood
A phenomenal story. Sadly, Joan is not alone . So many people have been used up and hung out to dry by Hollywood. Judy Garland among them. And I'm sure everyone who leaves comments could name at least one celeb left in the dust by this system. Pretty damn pathetic. But EXCELLENT story!
Fuzzy Bunny Slippers Especially women. They are held to a ridiculous standard and used as a mannequin until the next model comes along.
Marilyn Monroe, Veronica Lake, Kay Francis, Frances Farmer, Anita Page, Hedy Lamarr....
*was*
Very true... But unfortunately, That's how business is done an the reality is they won't be 25-45 forever. So then the next crop comes in an now your the new star's. Out wit the old in with the new, I know it sounds cruel but that's business it's never personal. They make it personal when they forget that it's only business!
Whatever she did or did not do to her adopted children, I am glad we are finally giving some time to look at this woman, this star, this legend. Appreciate her work, consider her legacy and what Hollywood did to her. I can only imagine some of the indecencies a woman like her must have had to endure in those days. From men in power. Can anyone really say they wouldn’t break, they wouldn’t lose it, under those circumstances. i see so much pain when I see her. She clearly wasn’t given the support or attention she needed to deal with her issues and demons, I feel a vast amount of admiration, respect, love and pity for the incomparable Miss Joan Crawford. ❤️
I love Joan Crawford as an actress. I am even impressed by her strength of character after all she was a neglected and disadvantaged child. I think she would have been very impressed with Jessica Lange's portrayal of her in Feud. Jessica showed us the human being behind the facade.
Joan Crawford's reputation had and has been so damaged by her adopted daughter Christina's book Mommie Dearest. Here at least we see her in a different light a complex woman who had good and bad points just like everyone else. She was not the tyrannical figure Christina writes about but in fact rather an insecure person inspite of her great talent and achievements. There are 2 sides to every story. Unfortunately Joan was unable to speak up against the accusations made by Christina because she had passed away by the time the book and film came out.
Christina was adopted by Joan and by doing so she became a famous person and made a lot of money through her Mothers name.
Who would she have been without her mothers name and fame. Two difficult personalities clashing. I think an unfortunate combination.
We didn't live with them so who knows what really went on. The twins did not share the same opinion of their Mother as
Christina. So Who is telling the truth. Joan was a great star and in the end how many of us would pass the test as parent of the year?
Joan would have hated Mommie Dearest.....but would have watched it secretly over and over again...
Perfect! I loved this! Joan would have loved this too.
Jessica Lange's portryal of Joan Crawford made me research and learn more about Joan and I have started to love Joan. She is in my list of favorite actresses.
OMG..everytime I watch one of these monologues, I have to fight back the tears.....
Fantastic job.... Beautiful work
Your work is AMAZING, every video feels like a cinematic documental... PURE GOLD. Now, please do it a "Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis" in honor to her nomination.
This has been brilliantly put together. Pleasure to watch - thank you.
I really love this. Exellant work.
JL should have won the Emmy!
Thank you for this! Very gentle and gracious...and moving. Many thanks.
I hope Christina Crawford sees this! I hope she realizes that no matter what her mother may or may not have done to her and her brother, she did something far worse: she ruined the reputation of a basically good but of course flawed woman and turned her into a monster!
Agreed completely.
Elizabeththegreatest no Crawford turned herself into a monster. Christina just made it obvious.
Elizabeththegreatest agree
And you only heard from one side. And for Christina to hate her mother so much, she sure has made a very nice living off of that hate again, again and again with her rehashing it again and again. What? I think she is going on her 30th anniversary printing. Sorry, I don't blindly believe her anymore. She has just earned one penny too many over and over.
B Butler she probably continues to receive royalties for the publication for which any author would. Also when Ryan Murphy created Feud he likely didn't consult Christina anyway so the entire issue is moot.
Thanks so much for posting! I love your channel!
Absolutely powerful! Thank you for this video.
Life has ups and downs, but most end tragically if we live long enough.
I've enjoyed this so much!
I love this!❤
absolutely brilliant and thoughtful.
This gave me chills. Excellent work!
Jessica brought it to the table!!! When she screams st Mamacita that she is sorry, screaming it, is some mighty powerful s**t!!! Real or imagined, that scene reverberates like a collosal tornado!
This is so beautiful, yet very heartbreaking! 💔
Love this very moving & deeply touching!X
This was wonderful! Gr8 job!
Ms. Jessica Lange is SUPERB....
Thank you so much for making this, it’s such a beautiful tribute ❤️
Thanks for letting us know this exists!
Thank you for this 🙏❤
Lange should get an academy award
This was amazing
Jessica lange favorite Emmy actress
Very emotional
Very well put together. .....:)
Discipline, Discipline, discipline... She was right.
thank you jessica
Amazing, truly! I hope you also do one for Susan Sarandon.
She just wanted to be loved...😔
The amazing Jessica Lange
Icon. Misunderstood with a harsh personal story... who lived her struggles in public life. Maybe she did not know how to manage all her hang ups in the best way and was not a picture perfect public person (who is?), but she was a top player in an industry that towards the end gave up on people like her. But she managed to stay on top.... I really hope we can all move on from the caricature of Mommie Dearest and appreciate her tremendous talent
Very well done! 🌾
I love it!
Could you do one for Susan Sarandon as Bette?
Yes, please.
How do you stop being the most beautiful woman in the world?
That was really nice
watching feud is exhausting.i couldnt imagine working with them.
living legend
I wish I could forget about Feud so then I could watch it for the first time again
Made me emotional
Regardless if she was a crazy woman, a hasbeen , or a narcissistic bitch, you can't deny she was One of the greatest stars that ever graced the silver screen, she was phenomenal, and Miss Jessica lange did a great job
Beautifully done. If this was rushed....I'd love to see what you really could do. I was sooooooooooooo shocked that Feud Bette & Joan didn't receive even one award.....it was tv excellence. Keep the videos coming secondhandroses......your very talented!!!!!
To all who helped create this film. Thank you.
Sempre me emociono.
I tried looking up the song in the description and what came up sounded way different.
Very Moving, now i would like to see one of Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford, showing this powerfull and affectd woman
Joan í love u
Could you make a video of Joan Crawford to Kylie Minogue’s song “Dancing”? Or to her song “Every Little Part of Me”? I think they really fit her and they are both Aries signs.
WELL DONE SO SAD :/ WOW
I'm quite sure Crawford never reaveled as much vulnerability or regret as they made it appear in FEUD. It would be nice to think she learned from her mistakes, but she seemed more like a steel tank that just keept rolling.
💛
I think Lange is a superb actor and did a fine job. Sean Young could play Joan too I think.
Can you make one of these with Davis and Sarandon ?!?
❤
This was so moving and beautiful. One question: where did you find the recording of Miss Crawford's voice at 0.42sec of the video? Thank you for creating this!
Haley Nichols thank you so much. And it's from this interview archive.org/details/popuparchive-1925809
secondhandroses thank you so much!!!

People say Joan was a monster... She was, but not by her own fault, but by Hollywood. They transformed a beautiful and amazing actress into a devil. Christina just removed the veil.
Is there biography about Joan Crawford?
utube just in time by john bavas
Garbo did it right. She knew when it was over for her, so she took herself out of the spotlight. They just want us to go away. Not just Hollywood either.
What are women suppose to do when they mature and grow older? Hide? Joan may have gotten older, yet, (I don't know how she did it with that drinking and smoking)...she aged gracefully.
@@ThePharaoho You're right. Joan did age gracefully. But Hollywood doesn't accept that. Older women shouldn't hide from the rest of world.
She looks like Caitlyn Jenner in the end
Why portray Joan as a victim.she wasn't.she was one of the toughslest ladies of Hollywoods golden age.imagine being at MGM and having to compete with stars of the calibre of Lillian Gish,Mae Murray,Norma Shearer,Greta Garbo and Marion Davies.not t mention the wonderful stars who came after Joan joined the studio.
She was multilayered and had vulnerabilities and frailties.
I was wondering about, if Joan Crawford died a year later when Jessica Lange played her big role in King Kong, Joan might have seen this movie. Haha, I think she would have never imagined that this girl is going to play her many years later.
What is this movie called?
alessandra y FEUD- BETTE & JOAN
