I already have the banana leaves & have them in the freezer ! I absolutely love the unique flavor the flamed, prepared banana leaves adds to any rice dish ! I haven't tried it yet... I am overjoyed you took the tomato sauce out. We always had oil with annatto seeds to give it color and put banana leaves on top. Does this change the flavor?

So if you make two huge pot of rice then it should be 7 cups of rice two cans of gandules, 1 big cooking spoon and a half or two big spoon of sofrito, 3 sazon con culantro y achotie, and make 2 huge pots that's good enough for your people. so it is just adding a little extra. Hope this helped.
@@ashleyhaynes4452 That’s the size I use as well. Basically when you add to little water your rice comes out a little hard and when you add to much water it comes out squash. Try it again do the spoon method see if that works out. Hope it does 🥰
Adding to much water makes the rice mushi, a lot of people and I myself used to cook with salsa cause that’s how my Mom taught me but if you eliminate it, it’s not Miss cause it does nothing for your rice!

Did you use short, medium or long grain? It’s deepens what size rice you used you might of added to little water.
